5-0 out of 5 stars great for the hard to motivate
I have always been the type who has a hard time sticking to an exercise routine. After the birth of my third child, the pounds didn't melt away as easily as with the others and I got Kathy's postpartum DVD with Cindy Crawford.I got addicted and loved Kathy's down to earth approach-she gives reminders about form but is not overly exuberant like some trainers. After several weeks I loved the results so much that I checked out this book from the library. There are parts that are still extremely challenging for me,even after about 6 weeks, but I am doing her daily routine faithfully. I ended up purchasing the book from Amazon after enjoying my library copy so much. She really stresses fitness as a lifestyle and gives some great advice and recipes in the book. Plus I can't help but love the celebrity tidbits.

2-0 out of 5 stars Anticipating mental fatigue...
I returned the book. Cumbersome. Not what I expected after a promo on TV had gotten me interested. Signed up and doing Jazzercise instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excersizes that work, and easy to do at home
Great book, I recommend it.There are a lot of excersizes that I'd never tried before, as well as some old but good ones.Really tageted the muscles that are the most troublesome, and hard to get to, like back of thighs and arms. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This book really shines with it's postnatal exercise program
The book includes exercises for the entire 9 months of pregnancy plus a 5-month postnatal exercise plan. The exercises in this book are easily done at home with minimal equipment (some exercises require light handweights.)There are plenty of photos (though not every exercise has aphoto) and good explanations on how to do each exercise.I found theexercises challenging, but not too difficult to do.The prenatal exercisesare good, but this book's strong point is the postnatal exercise section. You are virtually guaranteed to get your body back if you follow the plan! The book does a lot of name-dropping and tellsabout various celebritiesand their experiences trying to keep fit during pregnancy. It's supposedto be encouraging, but I found it kind of annoying. This book is strictlyabout exercise. There are not a lot of pregnancy tips like you find inDenise Austin's pregnancy exercise book or physiological information (seeEssential Exercises for the Childbearing Year). If your'e serious aboutgetting back in shape after baby, then this book is worth seriousconsideration. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for Beginners
If your New Year's resolution was to start exercising but you have no idea where to start, Real-World Fitness is worth checking out. This book is a great starting place for someone new to the world of fitness like me.If you are an experienced exerciser, you're bound to find some great ideas in here, but some might be a bit basic. The theme of the book is that a little exercise is better than none at all and once you get started, you'll find it easy to continue.3-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners...
I have been a fan of Kathy Kaehler for a while, so I was very excited to see this book.I was a bit disappointed because it was very basic.I did find a couple of new exercises that I have incorporated into my regular workouts.I was annoyed by the way that she throws around the names of all the celebrities that she trains. The pictures and directions make the exercises very easy to follow.Overall, I would recommed this book for beginners but not for advanced exercisers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tips for the REAL WORLD
This book is packed full of exercises you can sneak in here and there. The card trick is amazing! Also, a section dedicated to helping a certain body part is super helpful. The wire binding is a necessity for a workout book--you can place it flat on the floor or counter when going through exercises.VERY happy with this purchase--have had it for quite a while. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great, but not the best

5-0 out of 5 stars She got me exercisiing
I enjoyed reading this book, and the 6 week program takes you from begiinner to knowing you can do this. I had done the program for 3 weeks in a row, hardly missing a day until my life got so busy. I felt stronger in those 3 weeks than I have in years. I have three girls to run after and I did feel more energy, and flexibility. I plan to continue my exercises with her and I ordered her Real World Fitness book as well. Don't dish her for using the celebrity's names. We all want to look a little like them, so lets read about them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nothing special in here.
A perfectly fine safe exercise program. There is nothing special in here, but there are no false claims (except for the implication that you can look like a star) either.I too found the style of the book to be corny.Thereis no diet information at all.Personally, I would recommend DeniseAustins "Jumpstart". That has an easy to follow diet plan, adecent exercise plan (for beginners only), and her encouraging thoughts ofthe day.

3-0 out of 5 stars The exercises are good, but same as her video
I already had the Target and Tone video by Kathy Kaehler (and I absolutelylove it!) and I ordered this book to have something to alternate with byher. The book, though, is almost entirely the same exercises as the thatvideo tape. The "Hollywood" format with stories of celebrities iscute but corny and doesn't seem to inspire. I don't seem to rememberClaudia Schiffer or Michelle Pfeiffer having to lose weight (or ansubstantial amount of weight), but they are used as examples of dedication.Who among the "real world" will rise at 4:30 a.m. to exercise?Anyway, if you have her T & T video, skip this book. If you need agood, safe routine to start with from scratch, it's $12 or so well spent.Read more
