    I like this book very much ! I followed this diet with a friend and she an I were trying to lose weight . Guess what, THE DIET DID WORK ! The book tells you what you have to eat threw the course of the day with foods that are low in carbohydrates. You can decide which meal of the day you choose to have your goodies (TREATS).For EXAMPLE: If you want a Treat for breakfast it can only be with that meal. You can decide when you want to eat your treat, either it be lunch or dinner its up to you. But It will only be that one meal of the day that you choose. You CANNOT eat your TREATS in every meal. Of course, we incorporated EXCERCISE which also helped in the process to lose weight. I'm the type of person who likes VARIETY, so I have many books on diet and nutrition. So when I get bored with one diet I can choose another. When I do find the BEST diet for me, I will tell all you readers out there about it! Stay motivated and be forever fit!

    I picked this book up on a whim and am thankful I did.The quote that grabbed my attention was on the back cover, "If you can't face one more slab of meat or chicken...[This book]can help."This book just may have been written with me in mind!What I like best about this book is that it is informal, light, and is an easy read.I appreciate that people on any low carb diet could benefit from this book.I see how this book would help people who are just beginning to diet, or who have fallen off track, however, this was not my case.I was really just looking for some added motivation.I did read the chapter about just starting or getting back on track but especially loved the later chapters about continuing success and hidden carbs.This book left me feeling more knowledgable and charged to continue on my way to a lighter me!

    This book shows you how to get back on the low carb bandwagon. But they have spent and entire book on something that could've been a magazine article. Basically over 7 days just adding back in more protein, then salads and low carb veggies, and weeding out the bad carbs that you have let creep back in. It is not rocket science but for people that need a boost back on the wagon it may be helpful. Actually it could help someone get on low carb eating for the first time easier than doing it cold turkey.

    Once you've fallen off the low carb wagon, getting back on track can seem a daunting task. This book offers a sensible, gradual plan for easing back into the low carb life. It worked to get me successfully into a struggle-free induction when induction was always a major challenge before. The information about hidden carbs, artifical sweeteners, and other challenges low carbers face regularly is also a great asset.     This book supplies an interesting twist to the low carbohydrate approach. The essence of the Carbohydrate Addict's diet is that most carbohydrates are only allowed during one meal a day which is known as the Reward Meal. But they must be eaten in a balanced manner. The meal starts off with two cups of low carbohydrate salad vegetables. After this each plateful of food is divided into thirds. On one third of the plate is another serving of low carbohydrate vegetables. On another third is a protein dense selection such as meat, poultry, fish, cheese, eggs or tofu. The last third contains the dense carbohydrate selection such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, corn, carrots, fruit, fruit juices and indulgences.The meal must be consumed within one hour.

    I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.I followed the program this book advises.My blood sugar levels have dropped to normal ranges, 85 to 110. My blood pressure is back to a normal range also.I have even had to quit taking Amaryl because my blood sugar levels were getting too low.I have also lost 22 pounds in about five weeks.The program helps you from giving up because you may eat a reward meal with a high carb food once a day.I'm telling you it works!

    OK...so over the age of 50 I noticed that perhaps I had put on a few pounds.I still run and skate and workout.But I also eat.Many years ago I used the Scarsdale Diet if I needed to lose a few.Today it does nothing.So...I started to try Atkins.I saw the damn thing on the best seller list every week so I figured it had to have some credibility.5-0 out of 5 stars Not quite understanding.
    I have read this book and am extremely impressed with everything in it except there are some parts that I don't understand.     I started on this way of eating a year ago February.Every one on my Mother's side of the family are large people. I have tried every diet that was ever made and nothing worked. I have lost over 25 lbs and keep it off ,since last Feb 99.I will stay on this the rest of my life.     This is an excellent, simply written, but well researched, book on the dangers of bad carbs. I found it extremely enlightening and wondered if it was more than coincidental that Dr. Barry Sears, writes in an amazingly similar vein, in his book "Enter The Zone". It seems that more and more scientists, and doctors, are discovering that we suffer from an overabundance of bad carbs in our eating, and it's also imbalanced versus protein and fat intake.I would heartily recommend this book, and for more scientific corroborative data read "Enter the Zone". Combine this with the sensible exercise program outlined in "Body for Life" byBill Phillips of EAS Inc., and you will do yourself a very large favour.
