3-0 out of 5 stars TOO COMPLICATED
WAY TOO COMPLICATED DIET TO FOLLOW
5-0 out of 5 stars common sense or not?
I lost 5lbs the first 2 weeks. I regularly eat very heathy, but need to exercise more(or at all), so i was suprised that i lost the 5lbs just from eating a little healthier and have managed to keep it off. I think it is a good book if you are interested in learning better eating habbits, if you eat poorly. Alot of it is common sense about portion size and eating the right foods for your body to function properly. I don't think you need all the suppliments that she wants you to take, a good multivitamin doesn't hurt though. I didn't follow through after the two weeks because of my schedule, but i do plan to give the rest of it a shot. I think if you need something to jump start you to eat healthy and get rid of all the junk you eat than this is a good way to go. If you really like your junk food than this book is not for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ann Gittleman is great.
This doc really knows her stuff. While you might need to have a high IQ and time to digest.... She is very very informative.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy resource
First off, I am on the Fat Flush Plan, and enjoy it very much. However, several things about the plan and this book in particular really offend me:
5-0 out of 5 stars Lose weight, lower cholestrol & cleanse your Body!
After my sister was told that her cholestrol was 319, I asked what she was doing about it.She told me that she and her husband (who lost 35 pounds: she lost 23 pounds) were doing the "Fat Flush Diet."I asked what that was and ended buying the book. After 18 months my sister's cholestrol was 198 and our family history points at heart disease.I read the book avidly, did the 2 week 'flush' and lost 12 pounds."The Fat Flush" food plan was how I usually ate anyway, however new ideas from "The Fat Flush Cookbook" (which I have since purchased) for making 'good for you' foods was welcomed.Try it as a lifestyle! It makes sense! You are what you eat!

5-0 out of 5 stars Profound reading!A 'must-read' for doctors and everyone!
This is a phenomenal and shocking book which everyone should read, especially and including doctors.Parasite related disorders (and there are many) in North America are skyrocketing, contends the author Ann Louise Gittleman, and has become a hidden epidemic and cause for much mis-diagnosis.Since 60% of U.S. households alone have either a dog or a cat, the chapter on pets titled 'Mans Best Friend' is worth your attention alone. You will never let your dog kiss you (lick your face) again!Of course, parasites can invade your body in a myriad of ways ignored by most people, whether you have a pet or not, and can live inside you for up to 30 years and cause many symptoms and discomfort, or worse.Ignore this book at your peril.

4-0 out of 5 stars What you don't know could make you sick - or worse
Ann Louise Gittleman is doing all she can to raise awareness of the danger of parasites in our lives; it is, she argues, a silent epidemic. We've all heard of outbreaks of E. coli and the like, but such disturbing stories quickly fade away from the public consciousness. Most people don't want to think about all the really nasty things that might be oozing their way throughout their bodies.Gittleman clearly makes the case, however, that parasites are a growing danger, and the fact that many medical professionals aren't especially knowledgeable about the subject only exacerbates the problem.Few medical students take a single course on parasitology, she says, because such courses are usually found under tropical diseases - and we in the United States still tend to think that parasites only affect the lives of those in impoverished and/or tropical nations.Gittleman's objective in writing this book (now available in this revised version) is to educate everyone, layman and medical professional alike, on the extent of the parasite threat.By doing so, she is able to offer advice and guidance on protecting yourself from the myriad of invisible threats parasites pose.
5-0 out of 5 stars parasite paranoia
I enjoyed the information in this book. It points out the numerous ways we are getting parasites inside our bodies, what they are doing to us, and how they affect us in so many ways. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book was a God send for me...
I am 45 years old and perimenapause hit me like a ton of bricks last September. After a lifetime of being a "happy go lucky", positive and upbeat person, I suddenly felt extremely anxious, depressed, had difficulty sleeping through the night, suffered from night sweats, migraines, and was basically an emotional wreck.I felt like I was going crazy.I still have monthly cycles, but they have become much milder.Anyway, I went to see my doctor and he put me on anti-anxiety and sleep medication which made my condition much worse. After talking to some friends about natural remedies, I decided to do some research and found Dr. Gittleman's book.Just changing my diet alone (getting rid of the "bad carbs" and eating protien at every meal) made a tremendous difference in the way I felt.I am taking the supplements and the oils, along with the progesterone cream and I am feeling more and more like my old self every day.In response to the person who wrote about the diet not being enough to "feed a hamster", once your body adjusts to eating protien vs. bad carbs you find that you do not need more than what the Dr. recommends for serving sizes.I cannot tell enough women in their 40's about this wonderful book! It's at least worth a shot before taking hormone replacement!

4-0 out of 5 stars Right time - right information
I'm a 38 year old, who has been fighting panic attacks and weight gain, as well as other "stress related" issues.I've gone to the doctor, joined a Curves and followed the best advice I could find. But this book was able to point out what I've missed in my diet and exercise. It makes sense and she provides plenty of documentation for her findings.I started taking a few supplements and adjusting my diet and with in two weeks my anxiety was WAY down and my skin was improving!I'm not gaining weight even though I've increased my calories (and FAT intake) and I'm finally feeling full and happy with my meals.I'll know more in a few months but so far it's been fantastic advice.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing... simply amazing
When I hit 40, my hormones went haywire. Instead of hot flashes, I started getting cold flashes. Instead of a reduction in periods, I started getting mine... every TWO weeks. Really bad cramping and bloating too, like I hadn't had since I was a teen. Since I have lived 40 years in great health by shunning the Western medical society and their dope pushers (the pharmaceutical companies), hormone therapy wasn't even a consideration for me. But suffering for five days every two weeks was no way to live either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, an answer to my problems!!!
After suffering for many years from acne, dry skin, hair falling out, anxiety disorders, occasional insomnia and hormonal problems like bad pms, I have finally found what the causes of all these problems were; Copper toxicity! After reading Gittleman's book, I had a hair mineral analysis done and my copper levels were 5 times the normal limit! I have been following the advice in this book for 3 months and I feel like a totally new person. A very overlooked problem that could be the cause of many health problems especially for women. Go buy the book!

To Melissa Diane Smith and Others....5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!
Love her!Copper overload will not be everyone's reason for fatigue, of course, but it's possibly true for many people. She explains why the copper/zinc becomes imbalanced and what to do about it.My hair analysis of 8 years ago showed this syndrome, but no one knew what it meant. In fact, it was not considered "abnormal" nor did it merit any red flag whatsoever.I'm feeling better since implementing Gittleman's advice.Easy to do on your own.Copper can be like a toxic heavy metal for some of us.I'm less anxious, noticeably more relaxed. This was great just in itself, even if the fatigue does not improve (but it has, slightly, too).If you think this could be you--Try it! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars The Fat Flush Journal and Shopping Guide
Nothing great about this book. Follows the same patterns as many others I have read.Simple common sence guidelines but nothing amazing or new to the readers.

1-0 out of 5 stars mostly blank pages
Be aware that "journal" means lots of blank pages. Not much of a bargain for all that space.Could just as well have been a pamphlet!

2-0 out of 5 stars Journal part OK, Shopping Guide is a joke
The journal content is good, but the book is a typically-bound softcover which does not lend well to journaling (spiral-bound books which lay open flat or fold back are much better). The biggest disappointment was the Shopping Guide section which, according to the front of the book, "features shopping lists for fat-flushing foods". They are merely bulleted lists of foods used in each phase of the plan, grouped by category (vegetables, proteins, etc.)It would have been more helpful to have actual shopping lists by week, based on the plan menus. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Really Works!
I read this book at about the same time as Ann Louise Gittleman's "Fat Flush Plan," and both books were very similar, and very effective. Ms. Gittleman takes the time to explain - in layman's language - how food is used by the body.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works for Me!
As a veteran dieter I am slow to jump on new diet plans. However, I quickly learned that Fat Flush is not just a new approach to weight loss but an attempt at a higher standard of nutritional health and well-being.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gittleman's Greatness, Then The Title
As usual, this book is very informative, so I give her three stars in that respect. Her books in general paint a splendid natural way to eat for health-conscious people that harkens to a time when organic food was the norm. Sometimes I slap myself when I realize what brave new world we exist in now when eating organic food is a luxury. Who knew that one day we would have to pay ridiculous prices to avoid eating hormone-pumped chickens allowed to sit and fatten in cages under artificial light while being fed animal byproducts to boot? "Organic" food now costs two to three times more than conventional food.

5-0 out of 5 stars She knows her fat!
Ann Louise Gittleman is right on the money.I found this book the most important book about dietary fat I have ever read.5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book

I bought this book thinking it would explain about blood testing and how I can learn more about what each blood test means.5-0 out of 5 stars An Easy to Understand Guide to Improving Your Health
This book is an incredibly impactful and easy to understand guide to taking control of your health. It does a great job of presenting the details of blood testing and preventative medicine without getting too technical. The case studies were compelling and the reference material in the back is a very helpful guide to blood testing.I read the entire book in one sitting and found myself wanting to tell everyone I met about it. Definitely read this book if you are interested in learning how to become more proactive in maintaining or improving your health.

5-0 out of 5 stars Taking control of your health
Great book. There's so few options for actually taking control of your health and "preventive medicine" options which give you useful information. The book makes a strong argument for why you need more information than you get with a test from the doctor. There's also great information on some of the symptoms which could be the result of deficiencies in certain nutrients. Some of them hit home. I love being in control of my health and I'm ready to take the next steps and obtain the tests detailed in the book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Detox Book
I really liked the way this book was organized. It make it very easy forme to identify my most toxic personal areas to work on likesugar andheavy metals.I have lost over 10 pounds and am having my fillings changedPLUS I no longer take aluminum-filled antacids thanks to Ms.Gittleman'swonderful book.I hope to read her others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Read and Very Enlightening
Sure I didn't want to face my sugar cravings, parasite fears, heavy metal woes or radiation concerns but Ann Louise Gittleman sure has a way of making it all palatable and readable.Somebody's got to sound the alarm so we can stop aging and feel better in the process.
