5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This book has changed the way I think of exercise, of health, of fitness, EVERYTHING! It's excellent! It's a well-written, easy to understand book that teaches you how to work out once a week for 30 minutes and receive benefits all week. I've been an RN for over 30 years and have learned things I had never understood correctly before.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
The slow Burn takes alittle use to if you have been working out for sometime. You will most likly want to rush through the exercises but don't! Learning a new way of pushing the weights will improve your strength.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Exercise Method Really Works
I read this book and loved it and then went to Serious Strength Exercise Studio and it's hard work and wonderful. When I like something and it works I call it "The Real Deal" and this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every low-carber should read this!
Let me start off by saying that I am not doing the Protein Power plan.I'm on another low-carb plan, and wholehearedly endorce any low-carb approach because THEY WORK!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This book is excellent. I'm convinced that the information contained in this book is valid. Not just because the author's provide plenty of relevant scietific information to support the diet, but mostly because after trying the diet plan I immediatedly began to feel healthier. I know there are lots of smart people who might argue against this diet, but I'll listen to my own body before any MD, Phd or whatever. I'd give this book my highest recommendation not only to people who are trying to loose weight, but to people in general.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Protein Powerlife Plan
I really love this health plan!!I have already lost 15 lbs in 3 wks using this plan!!You do have to make life changes by changing your eating habits to keep the weight loss off.I haven't felt so good since I was a young kid in school!!I didn't work out at all and just by changing my eating habits and taking the right supplements, I lost weight and I feel great!!Now I am starting a 30 minute a wk workout program designed by the same authors with the help of a fitness expert and I hope to lose more and tone my body!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for all people serious about health!
It doesn't matter what diet plan you are on - this is a must read book.If you believe in the government food pyramid, then challenge yourself. If you follow another low-carb plan, then learn more.I'm on Atkins but I think the Protein Power LifePlan is a great book.It covers different material than the original Protein Power book (which I also gave 5 stars), so don't think that if you've read that onem you can skip this one!
5-0 out of 5 stars Protein Power Lifeplan
This an excellent guide for health improvement. It isn't possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the method until the knowledge obtained can be put to use over a period of time and conclusions drawn.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent path to better eating and living
I listen to audio books in my car, so my attention gets divided.

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Like Paleo Diet with Some Exceptions
Like Paleo Diet but allows you some more food items that Paleo does not. Makes the same kind of points about the importance of protein and the elimination of some starches and grains.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just too weird for me.
This is my opinion only. This diet is just to far out there. For example it wants you to eat Free range eggs but not really Chicken eggs?Come on.The average person doesn't have access to eggs that are not from a chicken. The General idea of the diet is a good one they just go overboard.Basically it is a low carb diet made more difficult. You would almost have to be a fanatic to have any luck with this diet. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Nuts and Bolts of How to Eat and What to Eat Low Carb
If you don't need or want the science behind "Protein Power" or low carb eating, if you want to eat Low Carb healthy, then this is THE book to get. It's become my bible for low carbing as a way of life.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good-but lots of room for improvement
The recipe index is not very well organized, and the book has several editing errors, but other than that: The 30 day meal plan is good, which is why I bought it, but (like a lot of other books) meal plans should keep the user in mind. Most people on a M-F schedule would prefer the Power Smoothie and Yogurt Cup recipes on a workday and the more time intensive Veggie Frittata and Lighter-than-air-Pancakes on Saturday and Sunday. 5-0 out of 5 stars Low carb and low maintenance
To the writer who is looking for an inspirational story from one who lost...I started the 30 day diet plan on December 1st and have already lost 10 lbs - and this was during the holiday season!I found the 30 day plan easy to follow and easy to stick with. As a carb lover, I thought it would be impossible to give up pasta and potatoes, but the easy-to-make breakfasts and dinners leave me feeling satisfied and hence, no sugar cravings. Not only did I (finally) lose weight after being disappointed with Weight Watchers and low-fat diets, but I'm eating healthier which is the crux of this book.Read more

Recipes are good but loaded with fat and calories...don't use unless you are a strict Atkins's dieter.

3-0 out of 5 stars limited, but easy to use
I am still looking for a really good complete carb counter for home cooking. Because I would use it mostly at home, I am not so concerned with the size, but more with the ease of use (meaning that I can find the info I want quickly) and having a large variety of the basic forms of foods listed. 5-0 out of 5 stars Enlightened menu planning
I'm so grateful to have found this book (from which the PBS series derives). The doctors Eades have new (to me) information I've never seen elsewhere, despite reading diligently on nutrition news. They steer us to nutrition-packed products, like almond meal and whey protein powder, I've not tried before, which produce excellent results, while explaining their effects on the body. This book is for anyone wanting to improve their diet, while at the same time learning about the hazards of processed, devitalized foods.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey, South Beach Dieters
From the PBS TV show! Two MD's change everyday favorites to acceptable South Beach type recipes and add other health related changes we could all use.I used their "pie" crust recipe and it was a hit with my dieter. The doctors are very smart when it comes to which oils to use and EVEN tell how to make a simple syrup from Splenda--unheard of until their book.Cocktail recipes are also in the book. Mexican dishes, fake "potato salad" and much more.Keeps things interesting with the pounds still falling off.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Low Carb creativity
I first started the Atkins diet in 2004, when low carb was getting big.Suffice it to say, I did well on it but 2005 didn't work out too well, as it hasn't for others either, since the low carb "craze" seems to be gone. However, I wanted to get back on track. The problem is, Atkins doesn't excite me anymore and has a lot of don't do this, and do this but with products and specialty products that either are too expensive or don't exist anymore!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Only Low-Carb Cookbook Worth Buying
The secret to low-carb dieting is to focus on what you CAN have and to have recipes that are so delectable and imaginative that you don't miss what you're cutting out. This book fits the bill exactly. McCullough draws from cuisines as varied as classic French, North African, Thai, Mexican, and American comfort food and the results would not be out of place in the finest restaurants. Yet for all their sophistication the recipes are unintimidating and easy to follow for the average home cook. In addition, you will learn many clever tricks for mimicking the foods you miss, from using oven-roasted eggplant slices in "lasagna" and "pizza" to superb cauliflower "potato salad" and divine blue-cheese flavored turnip "potatoes au gratin." Then there are the desserts. Yum. This cookbook is so good that I would use it even if I didn't eat low-carb. But as it is, I've lost 11 pounds in two weeks eating "dinner party" food that took little more time than broiling a piece of fish and making a salad. One of the best cookbooks in my collection of 50+.
5-0 out of 5 stars exquisite, well developed recipes
I love this cookbook! I know 5 stars is the highest rating. Here's why it has earned all 5:
2-0 out of 5 stars Low Carb, But High Fat
When I ordered this book, I was expecting something along the line of high protein, low carb meals with no more than 9-15 grams of fat per serving.I was disappointed to find that a majority of what the book was recommending was 28+ grams of fat per serving.I commend anyone that has lost 60 pounds on a diet, as I have lost over 100 pounds myself, but if you are wanting to look like a model from a fitness magazine, I don't think you will achieve such results on this particular diet. It does, however have some neat suggestions that you could modify to a lower fat version, and could be a very good diet plan if your doctor has told you that carbs are causing medical problems for you. ... I first used the diet in this book to lose my after-childbirth fat. From time to time, I return to it when I have become inattentive to my diet and weight.
3-0 out of 5 stars Thin So Fast...reveiwed
This book has a program that is comparable to Optifast, which is a diet that was popularized by Oprah Winfrey in the eighties. The difference is that you get one regular meal a day. This book also offers a transition phase and a maintence pahse, which are comparable to The Atkins Diet. There are many delicious recipes and helpful tools to help you lose weight and keep it off. I found this book interesting and helpful. And... did you know that there is a flour like product that is made from wood. Strange but true. And last but not least.... if you are looking for a lifestyle change and a low carbohydrate diet this book will help you to take off the unwanted fat and help you to keep it off. ... Read more
