5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended
After reading many reviews, I finally ordered 3 books about premature babies. This book was definetly the BEST. I read through it daily and it answered many questions. Iespecially recommend it if your baby had no problems and was only in the incubator to grow up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable resource for NICU parents
This book contained the answers to questions I had while my baby was in the NICU. As a second-time parent, I was especially concerned with attachment issues with my baby that might arise from being hospitalized. This book, written by the attachment-parent gurus helped to alieviate some of my fears as well as give tips for encouraging attachment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Through many of the medical observations made by the authors, this book provides some interesting ideas about the connection between the mind and body. Even though we all know that stress (which comes from our minds) influences our health, many of us find it difficult to put the mind and body together in one equation. This book is a great attempt to begin making the bridge between the subjective and objective world. It is full of insightful ideas and inspiring anecdotes. Just excellent overall. If you'd like to read about a sound theoretical framework that explains many of these things, I strongly suggest "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato. When I read Sato's book, everything clicked so much is was unbelievable!

5-0 out of 5 stars Faith in God turbo-charges our indwelling healing nature
I think what is amazing about this book is that Herbert Benson states without a doubt that faith in God is healthy for us.While our ancestors took it for granted that God healed them, as Dr. Benson explains, we have been taught to see healing purely in technical scientific terms. Dr. Benson explains that when we repudiated the importance of belief in healing we deprived ourselves of a powerful healing force.5-0 out of 5 stars The Mind/body connection
Dr Benson presents strong evidence for what others have called the "mind / body connection."Mainstream medical science has not yet recognized the importance belief plays in health but, Dr. Benson presents numerous studiesthat validate the major role belief plays in the healing process andwellness. Practitioners of complimentary therapies will find this bookespecially helpful in understanding how many non-drug based therapies canwork. Well written and thought provoking! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Brilliant
These illuminating and illustrious images are vivid and I suspect there is a bit of color healing going on in their design. Simple healing messages that can get deeper as you meditate on the statement chosen throughout the day. Healing begins with the mind and changing our thoughts are one way to fine ourselves in better spirits.

1-0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars For The Artwork, 1 Star For Content
Healing Cards is a beautifully illustrated 50 card deck. The size of the cards are 5.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide--the exact same size as the Archetype Cards by Myss. Artist Janice Fried illustrated both decks, as well; in fact, I couldn't help but wonder when looking at the Healing Cards if some of the images were originally intended for the Archetype deck. The image from one of the Healing Cards is the exact same one that's on the front of the newer version of Myss' Journal Of Inner Dialogue.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Only looking at the cards can bring healing"
Today I bought The Healing Cards. This deck is astounding beautiful. I own otherdecks like the Louise Hay and Dr. Wayne Dyer; but they are not as beautiful illustrated as this. I was very disappointed as the only credit given to the artist "Janice Fried", is at the back of the case, in very little letters. I found this incredibly odd, as the cards are a beautiful metaphor of the words, only "looking at the cards can bring healing".I don`t know why the publishersdid this, It seems someone does not give importance to art as a healing tool."Janice Fried" images are of a very spiritual nature. With naked innocence, the illustrations transmit the words of Caroline`s essence.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I believe that this book is a good guide for parenting and is a great resource for parents!Give it a try and come to your own conclusions.
1-0 out of 5 stars CHILD-CENTERED AND NOT CHRISTIAN AT ALL
As a Christian, I found this book to be very apalling and offensive.I don't know how they can call this book "CHRISTIAN parenting".The authors take Bible verses out of context to support their own views--views that encourage making the child the center of the family (at the expense of your marriage), only doing what makes your child "feel right" (whether that means not disciplining your child, not making them sleep in their crib, never letting a baby cry, etc.) The authors are entitled to their own opinion, but they should not call their views "Christian" when it's clear to me that many of their views go against what the Bible teaches.God calls us to do the right thing, whether it FEELS good or not.God calls us to lead our children, not let them control & manipulate us, like this book advocates.Following the principles in this book will lead to a chaotic, child-run, sleepless household. On the contrary, if you want order in your home, great sleep at night and a great marriage, follow the principles in "On Becoming Babywise", "Babywise II" and all the books in that series. They are awesome, God-honoring, practical books. All of my children have slept through the night by 8 weeks old and are healthy, happy, well-adjusted and secure, largely due to the healthy guidelines in the Babywise series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
With our first child we read all the Sears books except this one. I didn't discover it at B&N. Now, with our second we're delighted to see the context of attachment parenting through the lense of our faith. I highly regard this book as a treasure for parenting. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book was a God send for me...
I am 45 years old and perimenapause hit me like a ton of bricks last September. After a lifetime of being a "happy go lucky", positive and upbeat person, I suddenly felt extremely anxious, depressed, had difficulty sleeping through the night, suffered from night sweats, migraines, and was basically an emotional wreck.I felt like I was going crazy.I still have monthly cycles, but they have become much milder.Anyway, I went to see my doctor and he put me on anti-anxiety and sleep medication which made my condition much worse. After talking to some friends about natural remedies, I decided to do some research and found Dr. Gittleman's book.Just changing my diet alone (getting rid of the "bad carbs" and eating protien at every meal) made a tremendous difference in the way I felt.I am taking the supplements and the oils, along with the progesterone cream and I am feeling more and more like my old self every day.In response to the person who wrote about the diet not being enough to "feed a hamster", once your body adjusts to eating protien vs. bad carbs you find that you do not need more than what the Dr. recommends for serving sizes.I cannot tell enough women in their 40's about this wonderful book! It's at least worth a shot before taking hormone replacement!

4-0 out of 5 stars Right time - right information
I'm a 38 year old, who has been fighting panic attacks and weight gain, as well as other "stress related" issues.I've gone to the doctor, joined a Curves and followed the best advice I could find. But this book was able to point out what I've missed in my diet and exercise. It makes sense and she provides plenty of documentation for her findings.I started taking a few supplements and adjusting my diet and with in two weeks my anxiety was WAY down and my skin was improving!I'm not gaining weight even though I've increased my calories (and FAT intake) and I'm finally feeling full and happy with my meals.I'll know more in a few months but so far it's been fantastic advice.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing... simply amazing
When I hit 40, my hormones went haywire. Instead of hot flashes, I started getting cold flashes. Instead of a reduction in periods, I started getting mine... every TWO weeks. Really bad cramping and bloating too, like I hadn't had since I was a teen. Since I have lived 40 years in great health by shunning the Western medical society and their dope pushers (the pharmaceutical companies), hormone therapy wasn't even a consideration for me. But suffering for five days every two weeks was no way to live either.

5-0 out of 5 stars You will need to listen many times to Deepak's life changing views
In my continuing quest to unearth the best authors who impact the mind, body and spirit, Deepak Chopra has become a favorite.I received the CD set of The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire some time ago and zipped through all five CDs.I remember telling a friend that the CDs seem like Deepak is speaking Farsi (the national language of India, his home country).A few weeks ago I continued listening to the CDs and all of a sudden, ILLUMINATION!I can actually understand the powerful messages from the author, WOW!
5-0 out of 5 stars Happiness is the key
I was sent an offer for CD's at a much higher price. This was an easy convenient read from an author I have followed for many years - the best yet. I have found the quiet time for daily meditation a problem so have not reaped the full rewards. However the book has reinforced my belief of what is possible and belief is the bedrock of achievement.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Information on Becoming One With the Universe
While it goes without saying that it's unlikely that a person could achieve enlightenment through a single book, I think this work is an excellent introduction to manifesting your desires through Unity Consciousness. This book has good, practical advice on Meditation, the use of Mantras and Sutras, and the utilization of the Vedic spiritual tradition as a mean of becoming aligned with universal intention.I have yet to find a book that gives an understandable account of the link between Quantum Physics and manifestation of personal desires. This book makes a good effort and is interesting, but I remain, sadly unenlightened.Maybe it's more about the journey than the destination. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another great in the Powertalk Series
Using the mentality of "henry1983" all the great classics ever written by the greatest authors that ever lived deserve to be rated "one star" because "you can find them in the library" as if the rating system has anything to do with where someone obtained the content! Books here are reviewed by people who *read the book* regardless of whether they got it from the library, a local bookstore, as a gift, or at Amazon. It's almost embarrassing that this needs to be explained to what I assume is an adult--so this person may have some kind of ulterior agenda. The very fact that he rated it one star for that reason and then stated in his writing that it actually deserves 5 stars, means he invalidated his own rating and should therefore be removed (and take this paragraph along with it).
5-0 out of 5 stars Why buy?
Hey Henry from Hong Kong...News flash...copying this tape set is illegal!! That is why you should buy it. Besides it is a great set of interviews.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
Nice job from Tony, but Prechter lacks deeper knowledge of the basics of finance and macro-economy to be able to make such affirmations. Not to mention that he over-simplifies all matters to make and re-make his point. Of course, his pessimistic view may still prove to be right and then he will be called a guru again. But how long has been since he declared these points and nothing happened? Some months, right? As he also agrees, TIMING is key to make or not to lose money on financial markets, so to me this book is 3 stars: not bad, but no good either. ... Read more

Our beliefs createpatterns in the mind revealing a path eventually manifesting itself intomaterial reality. 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful!
This book as one review most aptly put is "an inspirational recharge that will bring you closer to a holistic sense of personal effectiveness and purpose."Probably the most effective way of absorbing the principles is to see him speak live. I have heard him in his audio version of the seven habits book.He is excellent because he comes across as an average guy, not arrogant, trying to give you the most useful advice possible. He is very much like the fictional character from my book "Stark Contrast" named Dr. Tom Kelstone.
4-0 out of 5 stars Helps One to Stay Focused
In this followup up to the original book by a similar title, Dr. Covey provides insight on how to work the plan. Each day has an inspiring excerpt that is easily grasped. Consider, for example, the December 5 entry where he reminds us of the need for continual rewewal. He writes: "Habit 7: 'Sharpen the Saw' is personal Production Capability. It's preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have--you. It's renewing the four dimensions of your nature--physical, spiritual, mental and social/emotional."5-0 out of 5 stars Supporting the 7 Habits
First, the reviewer from Falls Church, VA makes the statement that Covey makes reference to pages in The 7 habits....If the person read the sub-title "Living the seven habits"one would expect Covey torefer to his other book. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dynamic and varied.
I just bought the book, and I was really surprised by the many different ways one could utilize the ball and band.I have clients who only have an hour to get into the gym, change, workout and change back into their work clothes.I find these workouts convenient, because we get to focus on the training instead of looking for different weights and equipment-especially around lunchtime!

4-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!
As a counsellor, I have heard couples express time and time again, "there just isn't enough time."We all have twenty-four hours in a day; how we choose to spend those hours is our choice. In today's hectic, fast-paced world, we have a lot on our plate.Careers, children, parents, friends, chores, community activities, the list of priorities seems endless. So often we make the mistake of allowing life to control us, rather than taking control over our life and often the people who fall last on the list of priorities are your partner and yourself.Through all our daily turmoil, it is important to remember that happy, fufilling relationships do not just happen, they need to be nourished and tended with loving care so they will continue to flourish and grow. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Tarot Handbook
Of the 9 tarot decks I have this is the one I use. Many decks are strongly masculine, and a few are strongly feminine. Angeles Arrien has a nice balance of masculine & feminine. She covers the traditional "doom & gloom" cards in a way that helps look at the information presented and use it in day-to-day living. For me this isn't a divination system as much as a way to get in touch with one's own inner workings and live more fully. My recent purchase was the fifth or sixth replacement after giving mine to friends. We have three in the house as no one wants to share.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
When I first got this book I was hesitant to read it. I bought almost all the books on the Thoth deck and they all seemed like the same- just more interpretations of the cards. But then as I actually read them all they all had interesting spreads, even if it was just a lot of contradictory or roughly the same meanings. This is one of the better Thoth books and easy to read as each card only has a few pages to its name, and the minor arcana only one page each card. While I view Crowley's own Tarot Divination and Book of Thoth (especially Book of Thoth) as the best choice and wisest of all the Thoth tarot books because he's the one that made it and he attempts to conceal the mysteries of the cards with arcane, poetic and cryptic writings, he ironicly never really gave the user of the deck any way of actually using the cards. When I got Crowley's own Tarot Divination and Book of Thoth I still didn't really know how to use the cards. Now I'm close to being an "expert" and definately proficient at the deck and all tarot careds. If you really want to use the Thoth deckfor personal, ritual, recreational or group/coven use, but at least a couple books on the Thoth deck like this. The Thoth deck is popular enough to have a lot of books on it. Have fun with your use of the tarot and don't approach it too seriously.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding
The Thoth tarot deck was the first one I ever bought many years ago, and despite Crowley's dubious reputation in some quarters, I still find it to be the most compelling and to contain the most symbolism.Though I have dozens of other tarot decks, many of them beautiful and fascinating, I always return to this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully done...Highly recommended
Listening to Deepak Chopra's resonating voice, accompanied by subtle background Indian sitar music, is a healing experience. Also, his brief explanations of the verses is illuminating.I find I frequently play the CDs while working or resting. It is even relaxing to play while cooking :-).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Answer, This is it !
I have lost weight all of my life. I have lost well over 500 pounds. (20 to 30 pounds per year) Gain, lose, gain lose; I took comfort in knowing the bears do it. The only problem as Deepak notes is that there is scientific evidence that yo yo weight control is not good for your health. With the exception of those who are clinically obese, over 25% above the normal weight for your body type, the yo yo'er is a big risk. I have successfully done just about every diet out there. The only problem is that each of them is based on excluding a food group out of your diet. After a while you crave that food group.
1-0 out of 5 stars Not-So-Perfect Book about Perfect Weight
This book was less than helpful for me.First of all, the section on figuring out your body type was confusing and I did not come up with a clear-cut answer.Although this book contained some interesting theories and ideas, the majority of the techniques and suggestions are completely impractical for anyone with a normal life, schedule and job.For example, I work from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and most days without a lunch "break".I eat in the car on the way to my next client. So how am I supposed to eat a large, hot meal at a specific time, made of freshly cooked food and not leftovers?Really, unless they invent microwave ovens for cars, it's not going to happen. Also, some of the other ideas were just downright unappealing to me, bordering on disgusting (drinking boiled warm milk and sipping hot water with ginger all day while eliminating cold drinks). This plan may be very effective for the independently wealthy who are able to sit meditating in a beatiful natural setting and have a personal shopper and chef to wait on them. But for the rest of us, this book does not contain much practical advice for people with busy lives.I know myself and this is a weight loss program requiring too many radical changes and impractical ideas that I would never get past the first week.I found this book to be a not-so-perfect weight loss theory.

2-0 out of 5 stars Low-Fat Diets Are Dangerous For 25% Of The Population
Right after a massive heart attack, my cardiologist put me on the Ornish Program.Yes, my total cholesterol dropped, but so did my HDL (good cholesterol). My LDL (bad cholesterol) increased. Most alarmingly, in less than a month, my triglycerides more than doubled! My cardiologist had no explanation for this phenomenon. So, I ate even less fat (down to 5% of total calories). My blood chemistry did not improve.5-0 out of 5 stars Saved my life!
