Great public speaking in one easy lesson?
In a single short cassette, containing the bare essence of the book, Roger Ailes distills the advice he has given countless politicians and business people about communicating. His advice is not terribly complex: be yourself, be interesting, be likable. The book title tells it all: you -- the totality of who you are, speech, gestures,tone, persona -- is as important to the mesasge you convey as the words you utter. The book makes perfect sense. But the problem is that speakers often don't know what it is about theiemselves that makes their speech unpersuasive. That's why folks like Ailes are in buisiness, to provide the objective feedback that breaks through the curtain of self-denial that many of us weave around ourselves.

I read this book very carefully, particularly the section on talking to the media, and I took every word to heart.I made sure when I went home to greet the throng of reporters waiting for me at my apartment (after I returned home from my temporary Accountant position) that I would take control of the situation and not let the news media bully me around.I immediately addressed the first reporter, simultaneously addressing the question and taking control of the situation by firmly stating "our performance has been stellar, our revenues have increased markedly and so has our marketshare, making our company an even more attractive target for institutional investors..."

Help for the common man and woman
I picked up Dr. Hallowell's book about three years ago. I was in a horrible job with a demanding and verbally abusive boss and thought I had died and gone to Hell. On more than one occasion I seriously considered driving my car into a tree just to avoid having to go to work another miserable day. I was in counseling with a psychologist at the time who, though quite a funny guy, was of no help to me. I worried about a lot of things. I worried about everything: how to survive in a rotten job; how to regain joy in my life with my wife and newborn son; how to stop self-destructive behaviors; how to get back my lost sense of humor. I was, needless to say, desperate! Then, while browsing through the "Self-help Section" of the bookstore, I was grabbed by the title of Dr. Hallowell's book: "Worry". I bought the book and read case studies all about myself. People who suffered exactly like I did. I learned that I wasn't a failure. I wasn't crazy. I wasn't destined to live out the rest of my life as a miserably unhappy man. I talked about the book with my wife and told her I thought I was depressed and really needed help. I went to a psychiatrist who said I was suffering from Major Depression. He prescribed medication and long term therapy. The change in me was dramatic. I felt better, mentally and physically, enjoyed my family, regained my sense of humor, and, best of all, I quit my job. Of course I found another job and I'm still in therapy. I'm no longer depressed. This book literally saved my life.

very informative book on worry
I was very happy that I bought this book.As a person who suffers from worry/anxiety (learned from the best of them....my mother) I turned to this book to help me understand the reasons behind worry and what can be done to help the person suffering from it.Dr. Hallowell does an incredible job discussing the different forms of worry (including the differences between good and bad worry), the possibility of genetic reasons, how worry fits in with other mental illness (depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder), etc. He then talks about the different ways that worry can be dealt with.I was pleasantly surprised to see that he is not an advocate of just giving medication.He discusses a well-rounded approach of therapy, medication (if necessary), and things a person can do on their own. He discusses the various types of medication and how they work with different types of mental illness. The last part of the book talks about various things a person can do to help themselves deal with worry. If you feel you worry too much, you might like this book
"Worry" by Edward Hallowell is an excellent self-help book to read for people who feel they worry too much. It is also great introduction to the academic and clinical treatment of worry. Read more

I've read Think and GRow Rich at least 20 times, and now Read this one at least 2times going on Three now..I received Spiritual blessings because of these principles that cannot be measured in money or material things.. only in the eternal. Excellent program by Dr. Waitley
Dr. Denis Waitley has always been my favorite personal development trainer. I have many of his books and audio tape programs. Reading his material is great; listening to him is even better! Too many anecdotes
I have heard a lot about Denis Waitley, but was disappointed with this set.It was padded with several lengthy anecdotes, to which I wouldn't want to listen more than once or twice.I didn't find much of interest oruse here.

A Long Lost Favorite
When I was in Jr High my friends mom used this tape, we borrowed it all the time we loved it, and that was back in 1978-79.My point is I am so glad it is still out there for me to buy. I now have a daughter with ADD and it is next to impossible to get her to sleep at night, or to relax her when she gets really stressed out.This tape did it for me and works wonders for her.I am so glad I found it.This should be a staple in everyone's library.The muscle relaxers are absolutely great even young children can do this and benefit from it! (Especially in these crazy fast pace times)

Great for stress!
I am a mental health therapist and I have used this tape in the past to give to my clients.It always ends up disappearing, so I have to buy another.This is probably my 7th copy.It is a staple in my treatment of stress, anxiety, and depression.A must have.

Critics after life after death...?
I have no way of understanding how someone could not love such a life's work as this one. An artist might have to die to get famous, but what about those who die and come back?
EXCELLENT BOOK
I read this book initially several years ago just before my mother passed away.I found it very comforting.I give it to people who are dealing with a death in the family or an illness of their own.

Good for Mormons
No doubt most Christians will be entertained by this read.Eadie asserts that all people may not come to know Christ as the savior in this life but that they "must" accept his love in the next.The implications of a continued denial are not addressed (along with many other things she supposedly gained insight toward).I don't necessarily disagree with or discount Ms. Eadie's account, I simply find it to be overtly biased.Her explanation of our ability to reconnect with past lives with the usage of hypnosis is in a word, weak.She explains it as "cell memory."This I've never debated but, she goes on to assert that reincarnation does not exist, which left me wondering just what are we remembering then.She contradicts herself greatly here.

A cheerful, easy to read book.
The coping strategies in this book are refreshing, and there are a lot of novel ideas that are truly helpful. Dr. Potter seems to know her stuff, and the book is informative as well as pleasant. I've been a fan for a while
but these tapes may be the best place to start with Chris Northrup. I found them a bit more spiritual than the 2 books of hers I've read, maybe it's just having the sound of her voice, but still full of the same balanced health information. I love her honesty and feminism.

A Classic From America's Foremost Satirist
Christopher Buckley's brilliant satire of get rich quick books and self help muck that might strike a bit too close to home, mocking catholicisms wanning prevelance in society and its eagerness to catch up with modern culture as well as the books themselves. Some might think it as obvious, and thus chastise it for being superficial. I like to think that it's blunt, and a little more truthfull to a somewhat touchy public making it less popular, as is common for true satires to be. Critics sometimes want satires to be subtle and vague, but Buckley once again presents his readers with the obvious hilarity rather than the mundane and snobbish.

Ignore the bleating of sheep!
If you're at this site, then chances are you're sort of sick of business books. Probably, that's a kind way of saying it. Seeing another book by Stephen Covey or some other idiot spouting out laws, truths, and platitudes in big print, wide-margined, brightly colored business books inscribed with fulsome praise from every other author of big print, wide-margined, brightly colored business books probably makes you ill like you just ate something slimy that fell out of the nostril of a leprous hippopotamus. I guess I'm firmly in the growing Christopher Buckley fan base, and so I'm not sure how objective I am when I write a review of one of his books. Suffice it to say that this one -- written with collaborator John Tierney-- has the same crisp writing, the same kinds of unusual story lines and plot twists, the same kinds of colorful characters that made Mr. Buckley's other novels wonderful examples of worthwhile light reading.Read more

Good but a little hard to relax too
This Cd is good but for me it was kind of hard to relax to because it kind ofhas the same tone pattern throughout the cd which made my mind wander. I really want to try one that has speaking on it. I think it would provide a better guide for me. But all in all I use this occasionally when I need to just try to chill, but I like yoga better!hehe :) Hope this was helpful.

Makes (almost) miracles for your concentration power
I must confess something (hey, is my manager around?) - I kind of became unable to focus at work in the last months, so much stress took its toll on me, and I'm now trying to get all the help I can. I saw this CD recommended in a Listmania, looked over the existing reviews and ordered one. You know what? IT WORKS! I am now able to do much better, since I work listening to it all the time. After a few days on this CD, I started getting some lecithin help, and the effects apparently combined. I hope that I will improve even more, I'll continue these and also try other relaxation techniques. Anyway, I carry this CD from in my bag, to have it available both at home and in the office. Get yours!

Excellent for studying!
I cannot sit and study without having this CD playing through my headphones. I swear this will help you read smoother, understand what you're reading while your reading it, retain information longer, and enhance your study sessions. I simply put the CD in my player, put on some large 'noise-cancelling' headphones, and start reading my textbooks.
