5-0 out of 5 stars The best Inspirational program I've ever heard
You can't go wrong with this one. I was clinging to every word he says and found an inner peace I never knew I could have. So much truth and so little to do with religion, I find it very inspiring and recommending it to everyone I know. Whether you beilive in God or not this will truly make you think about your purpose on this earth and how you can control your future here as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Surprisingly good"
I get a little put-off with metaphysical mumbo-jumbo, and to be honest, a lot of Dyers beliefs conflict with my own.For the most part, this 7-disk set of CDs was just a plain joy to listen to.I admire Dyer for attaining the level he has--considering his humble beginnings. He also lets it all hang out in his presentations: singing, humming, repeating mantras, etc..I felt a high level of peace, and did a lot of soul searching as I listened.I highly recommend the CDs.I don't know whether there's a book by this title or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Works!
This is one of the first books that pointed the way for me to create a deliriously happy life. This book is a tremendous blessing. It may not have been perfectly edited, but I found the information contained in it highly valuable and life-enhancing. I count Lynn among my angels for writing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excuse Me Your Life Is Waiting
This book is exceptional!I have been a personal development student for decades and this book is the beginning of putting it all together.Lynn Grabhorn and her series of books have advanced my life in such a way that now anything is possible for me to create.
1-0 out of 5 stars Excuse me, I wish I was still waiting... before
... reading this book. Had I known Ms. Grabhorn's affiliation to people who claim they can channel 35,000 year old warrior spirits I would STILL be waiting, and I would be $17.00 richer for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BOOK TITLE SAYS IT ALL

5-0 out of 5 stars Believing is Seeing
I read this a few years back when I thought I had reached the 'zenith' of Spiritual development...I don't know why I felt this way, I guess I just thought I was 'pretty hot stuff' and I didn't think I needed to know anything else...very naive on my part...but this book blew open the doors to new levels of spiritual awareness...it made me realize at an even deeper level that nothing in our lives is ever by accident...EVERYTHING has a meaning and a purpose and a reason no matter what it looks like. Is this always easy to put into practice? Of course not, but like everything that requires some degree of effort, it is well worth it.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good book - very readable - assumes certain mystical notions
I'm a complete sucker for Wayne Dyer. I like his more `practical' writings more than his increasingly spiritual bent but found lots of good stuff in this book. There's much truth to the idea that you make your own success and this book outlines many of the best ideas for creating the person that you want to be.The book focuses on your inner self rather than on exterior things and is based on the idea that thought creates reality. He assumes a certain belief in mystical notions of soul and being but I think the book is useful for anyone looking to `know thyself' better. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Art of Detecting Serial Killers
This book explains his career as a criminal profiler for the FBI. John Douglas solved unusual kinds of crimes done by those who kill or rape or torture because they enjoy it. Profiling requires "creative-type thinkers", not accounting or engineering types. They must work well both alone and in groups. They need good judgment based on instinct, which can't be defined in an objective nature. Douglas says serial killers are mostly made, not born. Most come from broken or dysfunctional homes, and are victims of some type of abuse. Real-life killers were used as models for "The Silence of the Lambs", "Red Dragon", and "Psycho". The modus operandi is what the offender does, the signature is why he does it (that doesn't change). Virtually all multiple killers are male. Chapter 2 gives an example of solving murders where there was only a vague eyewitness description.
4-0 out of 5 stars Sequel to Mindhunter
John Douglas continues showing the inside of the criminal mind in Journey. High Profile cases like O.J. Simpson are included.Other cases are also included that are not as well known such as Suzanne Collins, a Marine killed by a civilian on post.As with the first installment, not for the faint of heart or anyone offended by graphic descriptions or language.Well written and easily to understand, a real page turner.

5-0 out of 5 stars A real Journey into Darkness
I have been an avid true crime reader for several years although this is the first book that I have read by John E. Douglas. This book makes you see the darkness that a lot of people seem to have inside and what they are prepared to do to realise their fantasies whatever the cost. I was not able to put down this book even though it filled me with anxiety and sadness because the title is true - he really does take you on a journey into Darkness, although John Douglases telling of these brutal cases is masterly. He explains even the most complicated of theories in a way that is understandable to all. After reading this book I have already ordered his other books and can't wait for them to be delivered. Gripping stuff!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Maddenly Engaging
Another Ridley home run! He's batting a thousand. Not bad for a popularizer of science.
4-0 out of 5 stars Genes taking their cues from the environment
This is a great overview of the current understanding of the role that genes play in the development of our personalities and behavior. The book is written with the general public in mind and Ridley does a nice job of condensing complex information in a clear and concise way.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very articulate.Great explanation of "The 4th dimension"
The fourth dimension being time.Genes are turned on and off, sometimes multiple times, over the course of one's lifetime.A given gene may do different things at different developmental times, as well as different things to different parts of a developing body. This, explains Ridley, explains why a parsimonious 30,000 genes can manage the creation of an organism as complex as a human being.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT meditation intro!!
This book & CD combo got me started meditating and I believe could be helpful for mediators of all levels. In this book/CD, Jack Kornfield reviews different types of mediation and different areas to focus ones attention.I find it especially useful to read some of the theory behind the mediation and then put the theory into practice with the guided CD. This book and CD had the right amount of information for me to start out, not too much to overwhelm me but enough to give a foundation of understanding. Also, for me, Jack Kornfield, does a wonderful job of integrating eastern wisdom into the (crazy) western lifestyle.
2-0 out of 5 stars could not connect
Sorry, this guy's voice gave me the creeps. He sounds like a preacher. Who can meditate without the ability to respond positively to theleading voice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Non-intimidating introduction for people who never meditated
I like this DVD because it's a good introduction for people who have never meditated and for people who might not be the typical audience for such topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spirit First; Success Follows: Winning the most and best through playing for the team and not strictly for the win!
"Leading with the Heart: Coach K`s Successful Strategies for Baseketball, Business, and Life by Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K) and Donald T. Phillips provides provocative, real-life anecdotes that capture the meaning of the spirit of winning for the team.Coach K shows that through the spirit of playing FOR the team - and not strictly for the win -- and with the spirit of those who can be considered "the HEARTS of the TEAM," possibilities become boundless. It's not the win that defines success. It's the spirit first, through which the success follows.Sometimes the team stumbles and sometimes the team loses.Every team and every human being goes through these trials and tribulations. What defines the spirit of success, as taught to me by Kirby Thibeault, author of a book of inspirational poetry titled Wealth, and reflected in the teachings of Coach K, is the ability to overcome psychological obstacles, to see and strive for the most positive possibilities, to never give up, to look outside the "box," to look within, and to discover the true meaning of winning.Kirby Thibeault, author of Wealth, expresses a similar perspective in his forward titled "Wealth" when he writes "It's realization is like that of the discovery of the divine. All that was unknown and limiting becomes clear and liberating. What was once feared becomes friendly.... It's an awakening of the spirit."Coach K delivers tips that help define the winning attitude in teams, in leadership roles, in success, in defeat, in life, and in considerations of humanity and love."Susanne Cardwell, owner/operator of Advert Marketing Solutions and avid supporter of the spiritual views of Kirby Thibeault, author of book Wealth.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great story
This book is written by one of the best guys ever in college basketball "Mike Krzyzewski" he has been the face of Duke basketball for many years.Throughout this book he talks about his life and how he became who he is.He talks about how he builds mentally strong kids and how he has trust in everything they do.If you play sports or coach a sport this book would be great for you.I play soccer personally and this book relates to what I am told every day by my coaches. You need to play as a team and if you do you will win.
5-0 out of 5 stars a great book to read through the summer
Leading With The Heart is one of the best books I have ever read.Mike Krzyzewski does a wonderful job talking about the important things in life.Such things include leadership and the importance of family.Krzyzewski set up the book in a fun way that makes it easy to read.He starts with the preseason, goes to the regular season, then postseason, and finally all-season.His use of basketball terms is like a metaphor for life.He also gives an outline before the chapter so you know what you will learn, and then gives a short summary at the end of each chapter to show you what you did learn. The book mostly talks about leading a team, whether it is in basketball or in the real world. The awesome thing about it though, is that he puts so much more into it than just how to lead.He dedicates his heart into this book, and every other emotion to truly make it a masterpiece. This book is defiantly worth reading. My reactions to this novel are tremendous.Krzyzewski has really taught me something, and I have never met him in my life. You will truly get something out of this book, even if you read just a paragraph from it.It really gives you determination to lead in what ever you do.Krzyzewski is one of the highest, most respected coaches in the history of the sports world, and you certainly will know it by reading this book.Krzyzewski really puts things into perspective, and he makes it so easy to understand. If you are interested in being a leader, or just want to get a lesson on life, or a life lesson, then you should really pick up this book and read it.I guarantee it will impact you in some way. ... A must have , great easy to listen beautifully narrated, excelent tips one of the best, perfect for every level, highly recomended. Defenitely worth every penny.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you are a pro, there is still some value, if you are new it is good stuff
I would not say The Art of Closing Sales has any ground breaking secrets that you cannot find in other sales books or courses. I will say the presentation style worked well for me. The information is not flying by to fast nor does it drag on and on. I would say for a professional seller who has been doing this for years will find a few points that maybe of value. Someone who is getting into selling should find this helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars An appetizer, but not the ful meal
This tape set by Brian Tracy is an abridged version of the program by the same name that Brian did for Nightingale-Conant and his fabulous seminar.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff - worked for me
I have been playing golf for a long time, but have had a psychological barrier about playing "too well".I knew that the mental / confidence part was as important as the physical/practice part of golf, but I really didn't have an approach to improve my mental game. Until I read this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars It really helps!
I just want to say that this book was very helpful in increasing my confidence in my all around game.We all have rounds where we hit the ball extremely well the front nine and blow up on the back or vice-versa.Though it doesn't really give instructions or tips, it's what you take from it that is so beneficial.I played a few days after reading just the first few chapters and what I took from it was to "stay in the present".Every time I found myself getting ahead with my score or dwelling on a poor execution, I would say to myself, "Just stay in the present" and I played one of my best rounds ever.I would very much recommend this book to anyone who has ever "blown-up" during a round.

5-0 out of 5 stars Golf Is A Game Of Confidence
I started reading this book three days ago. Today I competed in a small golf tournament and won. I shaved a good five strokes off and had the funnest round iv played in a long time. 4-0 out of 5 stars Insightful!
Although James J. Mapes's self-help book is stronger than average and includes some colorful stories from the author's life, it offers essentially predictable advice. Mapes uses the physics metaphor of quantum mechanics creatively, to show how you can make major life improvements, freeing yourself from the fear and inertia that may have held you back in the past. An actor, clinical hypnotist and corporate speaker, Mapes also includes a valuable section on how to encourage better teamwork. The material on visualization is strong, and we recommend the volume to both self-help devotees and newcomers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on the subject and may.........
Tony Robbins and Zig Ziglar right behind. This book is intended to improve Your Self -Steem, -Knoledge and -Confidence to its very roots. As you realize that to be true, it will become mandatory as a reading.

1-0 out of 5 stars How Much of an Expert is he Really?
I bought this book and then did some background checking on the author. Seems Mapes's PhD is from a "diploma mill" - a phony and now defunct outfit that purported to be "San Moritz University," but is really just a printing shop. In fact, San Moritz is one of a group of unaccredited "universities," many of which were closed in an ongoing effort by the FTC. Since San Moritz claimed a UK address, it is not a recognised body as described by the UK Education Reform Act either. San Moritz was famous for giving out academic qualifications, transcripts and phoney reference letters to anyone, sight unseen, just for a few bucks. Do a Google search on San Moritz University, and you will see what I mean :-). ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the time
A sophisticated and brief set of fifty-two disciplinary observations and requirements for better control and less confusion.A good book - but not as thorough and enlightening as I had hoped for -but then, I hoped for a lot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as his other book
I was disappointed with this book because it isn't significantly different from the author's book, Getting Things Done. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Personality Plus
I read this book quite a few years ago but I really enjoyed the updated version. She has so much wisdom about this topic.I teach school and I have my students take this test. It really helps me to understand them and plan accordingly. It has also helped me to understand my kids and husband.I highly recommend it to parents and educators. Very enlightening!

5-0 out of 5 stars Elementary foundation usually serves us best
Reviewer Pascal Schoneburg complains, "If you're totally new to personality theories and or psychology as a whole, this book may be for you - if you have aquired a knowledge foundation in psychology this book feels almost like an insult." Well, Pascal, I have a master's degree in clinical psychology and I find Littauer's simple, foundational explanations the easiest to explain, illustrate, and understand one's essential personality. Go ahead and work with other systems that give you a possible fit in 16 categories, or 9, or whatever--and see how easily you remember what you've been taught.
2-0 out of 5 stars Level 1Reading
I have used their personality test sheet which I really liked so I bought the book to deepen my understanding. This book speaks to the reader at an elementary level, like talking to a child. I found it a bit upsetting and discontinued the book after chapter 1. If you're totally new to personality theories and or psychology as a whole, this book may be for you - if you have aquired a knowledge foundation in psychology this book feels almost like an insult. It made me feel like the authors think that the readers are like little dumb children that need stupid 'real life' examples after every single point... This book should in fact be in the children section or maybe young adults. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finding Your Authentic Self: A Fine Book For Men As Well
It is a sad reality that so many people have their identities molded by the wants and needs of others. And I think that few would dispute that this is more likely to happen to women. There are powerful social and perhaps biological reasons why this might be. But the important point is that there are millions of people who are not fulfilling their potential. And there are many men who are stuck in the same bind.
5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Lose Yourself to Other People
Women have had it especially hard for many centuries. Only in the last 100 years in North America have we been able to be ourselves. However, through social dictation ... women fall prey to living for others. This is a fascinating account of how to bring back one's self after many years of being lost in others' agendas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Give this book and yourself a chance...
If you are standing at your own edges, sometimes desperate--sometimes numbed, please get this book. And if you can, get A YEAR BY THE SEA first and then A WEEKEND TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
