5-0 out of 5 stars The Premier Coaching Text
This book is THE book for anyone aspiring to coach. If you have the desire to coach but lack the knowledge, buy this book now!It can be a bit dry at times, but so can coaching. The bottom line is that it teaches a lot of things and teaches them well.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a MUST for all aspiring coaches.
When you coach any particular sport, are you fearful of sending improper messages to your players? Do you feel that your players respect you as a coach? Can you say the right thing to your players to help motivate them toachieve success in the sport they play? Do you need a book to explain howto do all of the above? If so, this is the book to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for All New Coaches in any Sport
This is THE best coaching book for beginner to intermediate coaches I haveEVER read.I think so highly of this book that I feel all coaches shouldbe handed a copy as soon as they sign up for a coaching job. This is thebook that basically made me the coach I am today. When I first begancoaching high school hockey, I sought coaching education in all the books Icould find. But for a beginning coach, many of these books fell short withthe simple fact that new coaches need to learn from the bottom up. This book not only remembers to teach you all aspects of coaching you willneed to get started in coaching but hits on a lot of the aspects that youmay not even have considered. This is the first book I read that hits uponthe idea that coaching is more that X's and O's.Many coaching booksfail to realize that organization is the key to successful coaching. Practice and season planning are covered in a way that a new coach canbegin planning their season immediately.Physical conditioningplanning and teaching plans are covered in a way that no matter what thesport is that you are coaching, you can apply the lessons taught. From howto make up your season outline to how to set and reach your team objectivesare covered to the point where you can gain the confidence you need tosucceed. But also covered are things such as how to avoid legalproblems, how to deal with parents and how and when to run meetings withboth parents and players. These are the very details that most hockey orcoaching books seem to leave out.And these are the very things that allnew coaches need to get information on BEFORE they begin. And aftercoaching for four years on the high school level, I have needed ALL of theinformation I gained from this book.I can not recommend this bookenough.EVERY COACH IN EVERY SPORT SHOULD OWN IT. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars life-altering
This book has changed my life.I read it for the first time about 8 months ago and continue to re-read and re-read it.It is one of my two favorite books and I use it as a guide to everyday life. You will absolutely love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent education for the relational imagination.
Dr. Moore is an artist when it comes to these things, a master artist.A person will probably learn things they will take with them their whole lives. I highly reccomend this book for learning about relationships of all kinds, i.e. writing letters, marriage, friendship.

2-0 out of 5 stars Thomas Moore Books
I read this book a few years ago, along with another one by the same author, Care of The Soul.I found his books informative, though difficult to read because of the writing style.Since, I have read many other books that address the same issues in a much "simpler form."I noticed that the price for used books is very low, this should tell you most of what you need to know. ... Caroline Myss, who's billed as "America's Leading Medical Intuitive," explores the connections between mind, body, and spirit by defining how stress and emotion contribute to disease, suggesting ways to harness our inherent spiritual powers and ultimately giving hope to patients whose illnesses have failed to respond to conventional treatment. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Caroline Myss Audio Collection: Spiritual Power, Spiritual Practice/ Who People Don't Heal/ Spiritual Madness
This collection, by Caroline Myss, has been an awesome experience: one that has caused me to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I now experience peace and contentment in a greater abundance. I no longer operate in fear. I practice staying in the moment. I willingly face my shadow and am not afraid of the lessons to be learned because of my confrontation with my inner self. This series is one that I listen to over and over again, without becoming weary of the new found messages that I receive. I'm letting go of my expectations of myself, God and others. I'm grateful for this encounter

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Program!
I bought a second one and gave it to a friend who's recovering from cancer, and she loves it!It really brought to light to me how I can be in charge of my life, as pulling all my energies into the present, and away from useless wastes of that energy. These CD's are teaching me how to be close with the divine, without all the associated dogma of my Catholic beginnings.

4-0 out of 5 stars Caroline Myss audio collection
Originaly I bought this audio set to use the daily meditations, however I find the other two tapes are the ones I use most often.Onthe meditation tape some of Carolines wording is too harsh for me and so the tape has been very helpful as a guide for me to create my own daily 'program'.I work at a job that allows me to listen to audio tapes (with earphones on) and I use Carolines tapes often. They give me broader insights into daily life and the wacky world of work. Two of Carolines (true) stories always inspire me.They are from the life of David C.Paladin, a man who went through a living hell and was forced to save himself in an amazing way.The other person had his everyday world crumble in one cataclysmic day and found his way into a life he couldn't have dreamed big enough to imagine!END ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great intro to Hillman
Always provocative and challenging, Hillman is one of today's greatest thinkers in my opinion. This is a solid introduction to his ideas edited by one of his biggest fans. If you haven't read Hillman, this is a good place to start. Hillman can be a little hard to read, so these short excerpts make it a bit more manageable. I also highly recommend Inter-Views, a series of conversations with Laura Pozzo and We've Had A Hundred Years of Therapy (and the World's Getting Worse)-conversations and letters betweem Hillman and Michael Ventura. These last two works are Hillman at his most readable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful and engaging. It gives pause for reflection.
"Blue Fire" is an anthology of selections from James A. Hillman's major works, including "Insearch: Psychology and Religion,""Suicide and the Soul,""Healing Fiction," and others, including journal and magazine articles in such diverse publications as "Spring," "Utne Reader," "Institute Newsletter," and "Loose Ends: Primary Papers in Archetypal Psychology."This should not scare you away.On the contrary, the reader will find that "Blue Fire" is quite readable and understandable. The selections in this book challenge you to think.Thomas More (editor) did an excellent job in assembling and introducing the selections in the book, tying them together so that they show a logical continuity of thought. If youread "Psychology Today," you should have no trouble with this book. You will find it delightful. If you have a deeper interest in'depth psychology,'Jungian Psychology, or archetypal psychology, you will find this an excellent read.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Book of hope
This book gives lots of case stories of adults with ADD.The book is long, but easy to read. There is lots of information about ADD, its diagnosis, and the newest treatments for it.But most of all, this book offers lots of hope for adults with ADD, that they can have happy and full, productive lives.

As an adult with ADHD, I really appreciated this book's frank approach to all the sides of having ADHD. The authors have it too, which helps, because they are successful professionals. Editorial Review

Everything will be okay ... once you admit that Dr. Laura's always right. This companion volume to the radio advice factory's 1994 bestseller (which tackled the stupid things women do) serves up plenty of the no-nonsense, old-fashioned morality that her legions of listeners love. Brutally reductive--but not necessarily wrong--this book chalks up men's problems to trying to save "damsels in distress," refusing to admit to a healthy dependence on others, climbing the career ladder to the detriment of your relationships, denying the duty and pleasure of child-rearing, and many others. Whatever your personal reaction to her brassy, unapologetic style, Dr. Schlessinger is a refreshing antidote to the wishy-washy "everything's relative and everyone's different" trend that held sway for a time. 5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Dr. Laura
I bought this book several years ago but only recently got around to reading it. I kept telling myself I would read it when I started to get the hankering to get married. Well, that time is here, so I pulled it out and read it. It is classic Dr. Laura all the way. I've been a very big fan of hers and have listened to her radio show off and on for the last 10 years! So I pretty much already know where she is coming from. I skipped over the chapters for men already married since it didn't apply to me. Since they pulled her radio show off the air here in my home town, this is the only thing I have left to guide me by. I will come back to it for the times when I feel like I need to hear what she has to say on certain "guy" issues. Always nice to have a woman's view on guy issues. Definetley a keeper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chapter one should be required reading for every 14-year-old
Brought up in a strong Christian tradition, I felt obligated and eager to give whenever asked and pretty much offered myself as a sacrifice for whomever came along...espcecially the Damsel in Distress.Such attitudes brought me to a place of usefulness in my career (physician) but also exposed me to the "Stupid Chivalry" trap.I lost a few fortunes and much sleep before I finally got slammed hard enough to be a little more careful with offering myself and the fruits of my labor. This book helped me see when I was about to make a useful sacrifice and when I was about to waste time or money (Stupid Chivalry) that might be better directed toward another person (How to know when I'm playing the Knight and when I'm playing the Fool).
5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Educational Tool
Like the book for women, this book is also used as an educational tool in the juvenile facility where I volunteer my time. It is an excellent book for young men to read, and hopefully follow. ... Read more

Editorial Review

When Jimmy Carter left the White House in 1981, he and his wife, Rosalynn, had to face the same questions many elder Americans encounter when retirement approaches: "How could we accommodate the unpleasant circumstances that had been forced on us? What were our assets and abilities? What were the dependable factors in a good life, and how could we recognize and develop them? Was it at all possible for us to be as satisfied in the future as we had been during some of our most interesting, adventurous, and successful times? Did we have anything much to offer in the years ahead?" In the years since, both Carters have become internationally recognized for their work as authors, teachers, and humanitarians, but as Carter amiably insists in Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How to enjoy being an old kokker
Simple, plain, clear good advice enlived by personal example and story. This is agood book about aging wisely, retaining one's powers as best as one can through the senior years. Former President Carter involuntarily forced to retire at fifty- six faced a double - crisis , identity and financial. He almost lost the family land and farm, but was savedwhen his peanut holdings were bought by a large consortium. He and his wife Rosalyn became active in new ways, as university teachers, writers, volunteer builders of one home for a needy person each year.

THE VIRTUES OF AGING by Jimmy Carter
1-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps he's aged too long
Jimmy Carter used to be my favorite ex-president. Now, it seems he has aged beyond the point at which he can reason clearly. He goes on Larry King to criticize a former colleague (Zell Miller) for standing in support of the President, AND writes a book, for which he will probably make millions of dollars, to do more of the same. He is using his roles as elder statesman (well-deserved) and Nobel Laureate (well-deserved) to undermine our country; but seems to have forgotten that he was impotent while our hostages were held in Iran for 444 days. You know the saying: "them what can't do, teach". If one of the virtues of aging is exploitation of public opinion for your own advantage (or that of your party), Jimmy Carter is VERY virtuous. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, I loved it
Marrianne Williamson's work is both real and honest.Rather than couch things in a concepts that are alien or extremely religious, she talks to you about the realities of existing.Of how things will not always be easy, about how you will lose your way, and honestly how to see people clearly.Growth is messy, it's not neat, maturity is not easy, nor is spirtiuality delicate work, but with assistance from a tape like this you can see yourself clearly and how to bridge yourself from concept to human to spiritual being.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Stellar Performance!
Marianne Williamson has a way of shaking the Universe upside down and letting all the stars fall out and into your heart. She quotes often from "A Course in Miracles," yet this work isn't "sermonious" or demanding. It is nourishing and easygoing.Miracles are to be expected, and forgiveness applies to oneself first.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Anxious Billy-Bully.

1-0 out of 5 stars "Dear god please think of the Children" or "Falafel."
Amazon truly did you all a favor by mercifully offering you an excerpt of ten whole pages of Mr. O'Reilly's book. This was a luxury I was not given, and now I can't help but feel it's too late for my poor soul. I stomached the whole enchilada, and I warn you this is one Mexican (or wet-back, as Mr. O'Reilly ocassionally refers to people of Mexican origin) dish you do NOT wish to tackle. The first ten pages alone tell you exactly what kind of person Bill O'Reilly is. It is obvious that this iteration of this children's edition of his wildlyasinine "The O'Reilly Factor" is just another attempt to gouge his enamored viewers for more money. This book offers no real advice that cannot be already garnored by the occasional disney channel blurb or the elusive "common sense." It takes him two precious pages to explain to his obviously mentally ill readers that "real friends" are not anything like those on the show "Friends." Being a fan of the show I have to agree with O'Reilly, but then I'd be forced to ask "What the hell Bill?!" He recently settled a lawsuit pressed against him for a rumored $10 million by a Ms. Mackris for sexual harassment. He attempts to teach our children about sex, but is himself a barely disguised chauvenist and borderline deviant. His previous "The O'Reilly Factor" has it's own section on sex. Here he shows just how little respect for woman and boastfully describes many of his "sexual conquests." In his fiction novel "Those Who Tresspass" he self inserts himself as an irresistable and dangerous womanizer. Feel free to use the main character in this novel as a personality guide for O'Reilly himself. He is desperately and consistently seeking admiration from his audience. It's both sad and sickening. He barely alludes to his "rambunctious" childhood misadventures with his friends, trying to pass by his readers what he "learned" from those experiences. However, both his massively (depressingly) popular cable "news" show and his series of near toxic books reveal a man borderline insane. He's rediculously angry at the most obnoxiously inane things, a chronic liar, and has the memory span of an 80 year old hamster with alzheimers. He will literally make points in this book and provide evidence that counters his own argument. His show is no different. He will make wildly offensive comments. When his callers call him up on it, he has his chronies "replay the tape." Of course, in the year 2006 we are completely unable to actually replay this tape on modern television for viewers, as you can see when his chronies shout back off camera a completely different statement. He has never apologized for his actions, only grunting with simian aggression and angrily moving on to the next segment. This man cannot hold multiple marriages, yet he attempts to teach children about relationships. Mr. O'Reilley is to televised journalism what pornography is professional photography. Any person who truly consider themselves a conservative should be horrified by how he represents the demographic. A recent example is of a jewish man who called into his show to make his case that having Christmas during school as he grew up made him feel uncomfortable because he felt constantly pressured to be more Christian. O'Reilly responded by telling the man that if he didn't want to live in a Christian nation he should move to Israel. Any truly religious person whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or Buddhist should find a comment like this wildly offensive. Well, perhaps the Buddhists will let that one go. In a country where religious freedom is one of it's main tenets, perhaps O'Reilly would be advised to know that a marginal amount of secularism in public and government institution is necessary for religious freedom. The founding fathers considered religion a largely personal matter, as did Jesus. "Render unto Caesar's what is Caesar's."
5-0 out of 5 stars During breaks in bingo....
...I read this book.I find it a pleasant diversion (like Mr. O'Reilly himself) as well during those all-too-frequent shuffleboard lulls. If he'd been born a century or so earlier, Bill would've been one of those "shoot from the hip" type of fellows; pity then that he wasn't.I like Bill. That's a clear as I can make it.So I figured I'd turn my kids on to him -- sounds innocent enough, right?Wrong. See, my kids hated this book.Mocked it.Made it an ongoing joke at every dinner table since."But Bill has some good advice," I pleaded with them over chips and salsa one leathery afternoon, "he's a real shoot from the hip guy, kids".Doh! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great personal and professional growth tool
As owner of a corporate training consultancy - PICKS Training & Consulting - and 20-year sales manager, I found 'EI' to be extremely beneficial to me in both my personal development and my profession. For anybody who is interested in better understanding their emotions and harnessing them for good instead of trauma, I encourage you to read this book and practice its principles.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thought-provoking read
You know the feeling--your spouse says something that strikes you the wrong way, and involuntarily you tense up. You can almost feel your blood pressure rise. Without thinking, you respond emotionally, and soon what may have been intended as an innocuous comment has sparked a full-fledged marital battle that may leave as its aftermath lingering feelings of anger and resentment.
4-0 out of 5 stars The importance of emotions
Daniel Goleman has written an interesting book about the physiological and social consequences of emotions and our ability to control them.He makes a convincing case for emotional competence as perhaps a greater prerequisite for success than intellectual brilliance. Many of us can probably corroborate this for ourselves by recalling very intelligent people we have known who have a tendency to sabotage themselves through their inability to deal with other people appropriately.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth reading
This book has a lot of very good material on enthusiasm and goal-setting and attitude. I highly recommend it for that. However, Zig gets a little preachy when he starts telling us we should spank children to discipline them, as well as his religious views. The final chapter is basically just thrown in to tell you his views. The main problem I have with the book is how Zig refers to homosexuality as a "bad habit" and how he equates "homosexual" literature with pornography. If you can overlook his homophobia, you will probably enjoy the book and get a lot out of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars America's motivator!
When I first heard Zig Ziglar, I was not a fan. To me, he came across more like a carnival barker. I really preferred Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Denis Waitley, Earl Nightingale and so on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Power of Full Engagement - The Choice is Yours
An extremely practical guide to full engagement through the management of personal energy. The book explains in detail how to get the most of life through the choices we make.It is heaped with case studies to illustrate the dynamics of personal energy. It provides a holistic approach to getting the most of life through an awareness of physical energy, emotional energy, mental energy and spiritual energy. An easy read that will engage anyone interested in living a fuller life.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rest has had a bad rap!
This book reinforces the importance of rest. The authors speak of managing energy rather than time and eschew the benefits of taking strategic breaks all day long. When I do this, I am more productive, more energized. When I plow through a day from morning to night without a break, my ability to complete tasks lag. The Power of Full Engagement explained why this was so and gave me helpful coping strategies to manage my wavering energy levels.

4-0 out of 5 stars A different perspective. Yet quite knowledgeable and helpful!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you don't believe in yourself, then who will?
"Confidence is the key to success", ok that is not a secret, but how to gain that consciousness of our inner power could be a tricky quest.
4-0 out of 5 stars Comments on what individuals can do rather than causes
Anderson, editor of Parade magazine, offers advice to help people become more confident, win friends, and influence people. His tips include taking responsibility for your behavior, "doing" versus "trying," and acting in spite of fear. The book does not address the lack of confidence in the workplace felt by many people today due to the effects of incessant change.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book

5-0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary
This is one of the most unusual, in-depth and extraordinary books I have read recently. Robert Greene is definitely into the know how of "the art of seduction". I agree that this is quite controversial topic and no wonder that some people are reluctant to explore this area of knowledge. Unfortunately, the reality nowadays makes it a must read. Why? Companies try to manipulate people, medias try to channel your opinion and mindset, and if you are successful and good looking man then there may be many women racing to capture you exclusively for themselves. I am thankful to Greene for revealing that seduction is an old art that is relevant more than ever and it is better to know as much as possible about it. Of course, if your intention is to score better with women then I strongly recommend in addition the bestseller scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex. The ultimate goal of such books is to give you an edge over the others, the competition. If you have it, then it will be easier for you to advance and have fun along the way. Otherwise, you may be one of the left behind by someone else who knows the pros and cons in and out of bed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes it is an art!
Greene has clearly drawn out the ways of the seducer. Most of the men and women in here are naturals at seduction and are not consciously doing the principles taught. But those that tend to mess up their seductions can learn quite a few things from these people. With everything i teach at my site The Seduction Bible, i still believe that this book is excellent for those looking to score that one special girl. Those wanting to learn how to go out to a bar to pick up a woman are better off on sites like mine. But this book deserves 5 stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting read.
I thought this book was a very interesting read but wonder, will it really work in real life? There are principals to apply and prehaps morals to leave at the door, which seems to be what others are concerned about. However, it probably will work, if you can deal with the fallout that might happen.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am about to start reading this book
Yes, I already gave it five stars, because I read one of her other books "Tapping The Power Within...." When I was about 14 or 15 years old, I was in a afterschool class, and the instructor gave us each a copy of "Acts of Faith." The title of the book was very powerful to me, and I tried to read it then, but I was not ready. See, thats the thing about most self help books like these, you must be READY to read them.I actually got "Tapping the Power Within..." last month from my counselor, thats when I realized I still had two of her other books. My aunt also bought me one of her books when I was of the age 14, because I was going through a tough time. The book was called "Don't Give it Away." Which I am now in my THIRD YEAR OF COLLEGE... YAYY ME, and I passed the book down to my sister.(Also, I wanted to leave this portion of my message for a poster on here named Tigress "JD": Do not feel stupid for buying a collection of her books. Actually, I had just did the same thing. I am about to buy more of her books). Its quite hard choosing which books to read. I am currently reading the "Acts fo Faith" day by day, and I have finished reading "Tapping The Power Within" Which is helping me a lot.The following books I already have purchased was already shipped to me is "Faith in the Valley," "Living Through the Meantime," (which I started to read, but I was not sure if I was ready, after reading a couple of pages through)"One Day My Soul Just Opened Up (which I am debating with "Living Through the Meantime"), and "Yesterday I Cried." So I have about seven of her books. I am going to purchase more right now. I hope you all remain strong, and I hope the books will help you all a lot. (sorry for all the typos its 3:12am in the morning in NYC and I could not help it, but to get back online and purchase some more books, plus I cannot fall asleep).

5-0 out of 5 stars Iyanla touches my soul
I am a big fan of motivational and self-help books. I have read many in my lifetime. Mostly good, some so-so. It is important to read a book relevant to what one is going through at that time to get the full scope of things from the book we read I believe. Iyanla's books are one of them and one of my favourite authors. The first book I got from Iyanla's collection was "Yesterday I Cried" and that had helped me through the ditch I was going through at that time. A friend of mine recommended a book of hers "One day My Soul Just Opened Up" which at that time I had already knew about her and went on to search on amazon her other publications and purchased the whole series of her books. Yeh - crazy me! But hey, she's good! I like her approach in the way she writes and conveys her message. It's real. I can relate to her. I have almost the whole collection of her books that she has published and reading them one by one as I go through my life's ups and downs. For the past few months I've been going through many valleys, I started reading "The Value In The Valley" which has given me many insights into my own valleys that I am going through and have gone through and approach life and my valleys in a different light. I have just purchased the Audio CD version of it to listen while I drive or at home. Can't wait to get it and the rest of the motivational goodies I just got from other authors. :) Thumbs up to this book as well as Iyanla's other books. Thank you Iyanla for all the insights your book has given me. :)
