5-0 out of 5 stars Very Explicit, Detailed and Valuable!
Paget's "How to be a great lover" provides a lot of explicit and detailed instructions, and descriptions. She discussed a broad spectrum of topics from sexually transmitted diseases to oral and manual stimulation. My husband and I are experienced and for us most of the information was not something new. We did learn new things however and it was nice to read a book written by so experienced and genuinely interested in sex woman. We would like to recommend as well scientist Ritz' bestseller "Scientfically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex" because it provides breakthrough information, which made a great difference for us in bed.

5-0 out of 5 stars I liked it
This is a very good book which I liked and recommend to everyone. It contains a lot of information that I am sure you will find interesting and valuable.

5-0 out of 5 stars worth reading
I just bought this book a few days ago after reading the positive reviews. It was definitely worth reading! The best part about the book is the tone she uses.It really does come across as girlfriend-to-girlfriend.It's not clinical (which is a turn-off) or condescending in tone - she doesn't act like a sex guru speaking down to the plebian undersexed. She's very encouraging and her main goal is to give you confidence as a lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars incredibly well written...inspiring
I highly "suggest" this book for all hypnotherapists interested in the process of regression and the possibilities of radical healing implied in the transcripts. This is NOT a book for those interested in past-life regression, but intended for those clients interested in healing underlying causes and secondary gains issues. Very helpful for those who have not gotten what they wanted out of direct suggestion hypnosis. Mr. Churchill's style of therapy is warm, friendly, engaging, and at times sweetly humorous. He challenges his clients to bravely confront the past while soothing them with his intuitive and supportive style. More geared for the advanced hypnotherapist, or those who would like to advance their training in the future.....

5-0 out of 5 stars An innovative text, rich in wisdom and compassion
This is easily the best text on the subject and practice of regression therapy that I have ever read - a must for the library of any practicing or prospective hypnotherapist or counseling professional. It is surely destined to be a classic.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars find another book
Makes a few accurate observations about boy behavior and its origins, however, the book leans a little too much toward "feminization" of boys in preventing behavioral problems. This may be the politically-correct way to help boys, but not the productive way.The book is also on the new york times best-seller list, this is significant, because that publication is notorious for being the most anti-male biased newspaper in the united states.

4-0 out of 5 stars Are you raising boys today?
If you are raising boys today I suggest reading this book before they enter the school system! Is he in school and saying things like, "that's gay" or "fag"? Sure he is, we raise them that way and don't even know it.
3-0 out of 5 stars You don't have to read the whole thing
The author makes some fantastic points in the first hundred or so pages in this book.He then makes those points over and over again until they have lost all meaning.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great public speaking in one easy lesson?
In a single short cassette, containing the bare essence of the book, Roger Ailes distills the advice he has given countless politicians and business people about communicating. His advice is not terribly complex: be yourself, be interesting, be likable. The book title tells it all: you -- the totality of who you are, speech, gestures, tone, persona -- is as important to the mesasge you convey as the words you utter. The book makes perfect sense. But the problem is that speakers often don't know what it is about theiemselves that makes their speech unpersuasive. That's why folks like Ailes are in buisiness, to provide the objective feedback that breaks through the curtain of self-denial that many of us weave around ourselves.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
The book is very well written and the content are absolutely useful. A must-have to strengthen your communication and leadership skills.

3-0 out of 5 stars Read this book before appearing on the O'Reilly Factor
I read this book very carefully, particularly the section on talking to the media, and I took every word to heart.I made sure when I went home to greet the throng of reporters waiting for me at my apartment (after I returned home from my temporary Accountant position) that I would take control of the situation and not let the news media bully me around.I immediately addressed the first reporter, simultaneously addressing the question and taking control of the situation by firmly stating "our performance has been stellar, our revenues have increased markedly and so has our marketshare, making our company an even more attractive target for institutional investors..."

Editorial Review

This is not a collection of encouraging essays on simplicity, nor is it perky advice on how to get by with less. Timothy Miller, a clinical psychologist, sets out to uncover in recent scientific studies the roots of the insatiable appetite of humans. After establishing our instinctual need for More, he pursues its destructive consequences and then he outlines a methodology for transcending the cycle. His infinitely pragmatic advice centers on his elaboration of Compassion, Attention, and Gratitude. Here is perennial wisdom transformed into practical science. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Flawed Tone, but Solid, Livable Strategies
I first read How to Want What You Have many years ago, and I remember being incredibly excited by it. Miller's advice for practicing compassion, attention, and gratitude has stuck with me since. Upon re-reading it, however, I noticed a subtle dogmatic preference for Cognitive Therapy that turned me off just a little. Don't get me wrong, I have loved and used Cognitive Therapy in my own life ever since I discovered it in David D. Burns' Feeling Good. But I've also found other methodologies like Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Behavior Therapy, and Positive Psychology to be scientifically rigorous and just as effective. Whether a function of bias or simply the fact that a lot of progress has been made in these other areas in the 10 years since its publication, Miller's book seems to rely too strongly on Cognitive Therapy-at the seeming exclusion of other strategies.
5-0 out of 5 stars Practical advise for the hectic modern world we live in
this is some very basic insight to living a simple, content, fullfilling life -- Miller points out, in humorous, interesting ways, the things we already know to be true, but in our haste to live up to marketing hype that surrounds us, we forget.
5-0 out of 5 stars Modernized Buddist Wisdom
Loved it! A thoughtful, wise, and uplifting modern reiteration of the best of Buddism, IMO. I read it years ago, and still treasure it today. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Book of Persuasion
The Psychology of Persuasion is a fun read. It is written so that you can be more influential with your kids, your boss or your business dealings.Another very nice benefit of this book is the subject of collecting intelligence.I promise if you buy this book you will never see people the same. You will really understand how they think, how they decide things and how they buy. It's not boring mumbo jumbo like a college text. It's readable for real people.I got so many ideas between the book and the presentation that I'll be working a long time and making even more money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This is an easy to read book, as any other book it uses many examples to understand the objectives. Something unique about this book is that it uses exercises; this is great for people who learn by repetition or practice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Golden Nuggets
Often I have a difficult time remembering various techniques that I read about in my pursuit of knowledge. This book gives such useful information, that I felt compelled to make index cards illustrating the concepts. I carry one index card with me each day as I attempt in incorporate that day's golden nugget into my life.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Topic - Terrible Presenation
Well, I just had to try another Dr. Phil book, since it has been a number of years since I read Life Strategies. To be honest, even though he can be a polarizing figure, I have nothing against him. I think his TV is a source of help and inspiration for thousands of people.
4-0 out of 5 stars Getting There
Haven't finished the book yet because unlike almost every other self-help book I've ever seen, this one requires a lot of hard work -- and that's the only way to get results.
4-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Phil...
This book was an interesting read; I enjoyed hearing all of Dr. Phil's amusing personal stories. I guess this book could be helpful if one actually had the motivation to get through all of the exercises. However, discomforting is the fact that most of the concepts in this book, actually every concept in this book, is largely stolen from other prominent psychologists such as Maslow and Erikson. There is no credit cited for any source used in this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring
I love Christiane Northrup's holistic view of our bodies, minds and spirits. As someone who has felt alone and crazy at 47, I am grateful to feel validated and reassured. Not all things in the book apply to me at this time, but were very interesting and I am glad to learn new information about what is coming. This book is great for anyone who is ready to believe in the power they have to manage thier own health.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning
Do not buy this book unless you have a very high tolerance for new age gibberish. There is factual information here, but it is buried in gushy self-absorption.I bought it for psychotherapy patients who are going through menopause, but I'd be embarrassed to lend it out.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not far enough
The Wisdom of Menopause provides an accurate description of what happens to a woman's body during and after ovarian failure (menopause). This book describes in detail the negative effects of menopause (ovarian failure) while still describing it as a natural and normal process to embrace. I don't believe we should be so willing to allow our ovaries to fail, instead we should look for ways to help them work better and for longer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Different View of Enlightenment
Anyone on the path of enlightenment should add this course to their studies. It can be daunting at first to understand where Stephen is going with this technique. But as the listener continues on this tutorial, the stories he shares can be enjoyed while gathering information during his discourse for use in the normal meditation disciplines.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not very good.
I don't know how many times I can listen to this guy ask "If you don't use your thoughts, memories, emotions, associations, or perceptions, how do you experience X". I don't know what this question is supposed to do for you or why he thinks that asking it over and over for different experiences does anything for anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Is cancer preventable? Most is...
General Content: Cancer is one of leading causes of death in our world and contrary to what many people believe, most cancers are preventable. Proper diet plays a key role in preventing cancer and this title by Dr. Hatherill is one of the best resources I've seen for building a cancer-fighting diet. The beautiful part about the recommendations in this audiobook is that they won't just help you to prevent cancer. They'll also help prevent heart disease, strokes and a whole host of other maladies in addition to helping you to shed excess weight. Perhaps most importantly the book contains information on helping to reduce the likelihood that your children will contract cancer.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, Informative Read
This book is an eye-opener. Lots of very interesting information and a good tool to eat healthier, and glean an understanding into eating properly.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only dietary guide you'll ever need
My copy is out on loan (as it often is) so I went on Amazon to get the publication details for including this book in the recommended reading section of my own new book, Younger by the Day (HarperSanFrancisco, December 2004). I was shocked to see only four reviews and that they weren't all 5 stars. This book is fabulous, truly the only guide you'll ever need for disease prevention, nutrition---even weight loss, since if you eat all the health plant foods Dr. Hatherill recommends, you'll lose weight while you protect yourself from cancer and other degenerative diseases. Not only is Eat to Beat Cancer comprehensive and packed with valuable information, it is useful and practical: you can take its ideas to the grocery store and the restaurant and use them in real life every day. When I first read this book three years ago, I typed up Dr. Hatherill's list of the 8 cancer-fighting food groups and put it on my refrigerator. To this day, I know what to include in my diet on a daily basis; so do my husband and daughter. Please: Do yourself a favor and buy this book. And I should buy another one---one for me, one as a loaner. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Implications of SHAM for behavior when the permanent energy crisis strikes
There is a great deal of talk in Peak Oil circles about how we're going to all have to band together and cooperate if we're going to get through the coming energy crisis with an intact society. If we don't localize and form strong communities, we risk sinking into chaos, crime, fascism, and worse. But do we have what it takes? 5-0 out of 5 stars Some very irresponsible people here!
Wow--what's up with all of the UNINFORMED negative reviews here? People are actually complaining that Salerno bashes homeopathy? You've got to be kidding me! There is NO evidence that homeopathy works, at all. A recent, very thorough, and representative meta-analysis of ALL the research on the topic concluded that homeopathy is just a placebo effect. Sorry if such news conflicts with your a priori, unsupported, ideological stances, but reality is reality. We should let the evidence shape our beliefs, and NOT let our beliefs shape our interpretation of the evidence! And, by the way, reality is that which doesn't go away when you stop believing it (also, something doesn't all-of-a-sudden exist just because you think it does). Further, the entire self-help movement IS a sham. It's NOT based on science at all, but is rather a money-making racket similar to Watsonian advertising principles: convince people they've got a certain problem they really don't have and then sell them the remedy for it. Psychiatry could be thrown in the mix as well; it's the victimization of America, got a problem? come purchase friendship at a steep price; it's what happens when we let business models treat personal, existential problems in living as catalysts for marketing and product selling. We've accepted the campaign too; most of us DO believe that we are victims of something or another. If we've got problems it's not OUR fault, it never is! It's our parents' fault! (Even though research shows that children of alcoholic or otherwise abusive parents really are no more likely to have problems as adults as children of other types of parents.) If you refuse to believe that self-help gurus offer advice that is not scientifically supported, that they really don't have your best interests in mind, and that your money is the only thing they're after, then go ahead, give them your money. They'll gladly take it, believe me. Same goes for quack peddlers of alternative medicines. Woe to person who bashes science and puts FAITH in treatments and remedies untested in rigorous, controlled experiments, many of which are not only are a waste of money but are actually DANGEROUS. Go ahead and ignore robust findings that show that acupuncture and chiropractic don't work, at all, and put your faith in these disproven procedures based on your own statistically unrepresentative, anecdotal evidence, and, give your money to someone shamming you. But don't do so and then write reviews denouncing someone who relies on actual evidence, when you yourself have no reliable evidence to back your claims up! You are foolish AND irresponsible, and if you've actually seen the evidence, then you're also intellectually dishonest.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sham isShameless
I agreed with many of Salereno's points about the current self-help gurus. They do perpetuate the need for themselves and often sham people. However, that is about the only sane thing he has to say.

5-0 out of 5 stars Moving from Chronos to Kairos Time
From the back of the audiotapes:
4-0 out of 5 stars A Myssian look at our spiritual journey
Carolyn Myss fills six audio cassetts with witty conversation in dialogue with a live audience. Her objective is to show us a way to think about our spiritual journey by using Jungian archetypes as they appear in our "sacred contract." This helps us define and understand our heroic journey into consciousness on a symbolic level. Our goal is to discover our "charism," a Greek word used in the Catholic catechism meaning "special or unique grace." Dr. Myss implies that we each are given a special or unique grace by God (or perhaps the Holy Spirit). We incarnate with a "sacred contract" which tests who we are as we proceed in search of this charism. Our task in life as we choose to become conscious is to learn particular lessons which are delineated in our sacred contract. We have choice points along the way. If we do not choose to learn the lesson in our contract through acquiescence to our surrender points then we must forever keep meeting up with the same archetypes (i.e., universal life patterns) until we make the choices which allow us to learn the lesson and thus to move to higher levels of consciousness and understanding (i.e., our minds are transformed so they serve the spirit [our higher self] as we liberate ourselves from the tyranny of our tribal mind). Our journey helps us refine our charism which in turn refines us so we may continue to refine our charism to give something of value back to the world before we go home (i.e., place of origin of our soul). Dr. Myss illustrates her ideas using a Jungian archetypal approach to the telling and analysis of Dorothy in the Wizzard of Oz and Annie Sullivan's young blind and deaf charge. Dr. Myss focusses on the "universal" archetypes of child (orphan), prostitute, victim, and saboteur. The tapes are fun to listen to. The material is complex and deserves several sessions of listening and relistening for maximum understanding. A novice will find the material confusing as Dr. Myss's verbal style is circular and integrated rather than linear.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too many distractions
The information in these tapes is very valuable and as usual, Dr. Myssdelivers her lecture with great depth and humor.Unfortunately, due tosome unexplained shenanigens on the sidelines with a woman named Robin,Myss is quite distracted through the first 3 tapes. It appears that Robinis doing something to make the audience laugh and Dr. Myss keeps having toask her to stop.I found this extremely irritating and distracting and Iwas very surprised that with all the lectures Myss delivers each year, theywould decide to release tapes with this kind of thing taking up so muchspace. If you want some good tapes, try her lecture on The Fundamentals ofSpiritual Alchemy. It is much better (I am a big fan and have many of hertapes) and there are no irritating distractions. Also on the archetypestapes, Dr. Myss spends a great deal of time writing out diagrams which shedoes not explain for the benefit of her listening audience. The lectureitself is good if you have the patience to sift through all of the otherparts that weren't well thought out or executed. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Too short to be used by itself
Before deciding to buy this tape set I was already very familiar with the whole silva concept, having read three books about it. What I was looking for from these tapes was the necessary exercises that would shorten the necessary standard exercise set that is to be used by people who have not been able to directly particapate in silva's courses.Unfortunatly this tape tried to merge the theoretical aspect of the silva program and its practical exercises together, the result having been that neither one of these concepts is fully clarified or explored. The theoretical part consists of short recorded parts of the full lecture given by the author to his classes in California. And although DeJong's way of explaining consepts is very clear, the space constraints of the 2 tapes did not allow for full explanation of the silva concept. You will definitly have to read the other books about this program to better(fully) understand what it is about. As a result the space for practical exercises is also limited. There are 4 basic exercises her
