5-0 out of 5 stars An indispensable book for everyone interested in homeopathy
A very well-researched, readable, and personable book on homeopathy.I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to know more about how powerfully effective homeopathy is.

5-0 out of 5 stars a fabulous book on many levels
Amy Lansky's book is so engaging and it's an inspiring, informative read! So many people are becoming involved with homeopathic practitioners in spite of the "haughty disrespect" still expressed by many in medicine and pharmacology. (Ms. Lansky quotes the biographer Rima Handley, who describes Christian Hahnemann, the creator of the homeopathic system, and the the "haughty disrespect" paid to him by medical authorities in 1810!)
5-0 out of 5 stars Discover homeopathy!
Anyone considering using homeopathy ought to read this book first. I am a tireless promoter of Amy's wonderful book because homeopathy has done so much to heal me and change my life. I have been cured of IBS, post-partum depression, insomnia, post-partum infection, and a variety of minor ailments, all using this system of infinitesimal dilutions of natural substances. Amy clears up much of the confusion that tends to cloud the reality of this powerful and, indeed, life saving alternative therapy. My favorite chapter is chapter 9, in which about a dozen dramatic cure stories are shared. Read about the full reversal of advanced Alzheimer's disease, a rescue from certain death from Arsenic poisoning, and many other examples of the body's ability to heal itself. Please do read it and discover homeopathy, the safest, most complete medicine available to mankind. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Some concepts are dated, but overall, a good health guide
In the book, Mr. Kloss said of all diseases, "God has invented the cure and is waiting for man to discover it."The longer I practice as a pharmacist, the more I realize he was right.
3-0 out of 5 stars Informative
Good information but I find many of the treatments brief or outdated, I prefer The Little Herb Encyclopedia by Jack Ritchason. Together they make the perfect herbal library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Helpful advice for people with bad medical insurance benefit
I have used this book as a reference guide for everything between athelete's foot to zinc and I have found it to be very useful. In fact, I loaned the book to my brother and he refuses to give it back. I boughtanother copy for me and a few more for gifts. Editorial Review

For thousands of years, people have relied on the gifts of the earth: nutritious food, clean water, natural light, medicinal herbs--and an active lifestyle to stay healthy. Now the gifts of the earth have been compromised: we eat highly processed food, bathe in and drink polluted water, work by artificial lighting, and take pills when we're sick and depressed from living this way. Natural remedies can make a drastic positive change in your life, says James F. Balch, M.D., in Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars natural remedies that can save your life
This book is rather indept concerning just one of the remedies,5-0 out of 5 stars We are all in agreement here!
This book does the job of explaining WHAT our bodies need and WHY theseTen are the most important.Balch has helped us by picking the Ten NaturalRemedies that are the most important ones. That way we can keep our focusa little better.Taking too many supplements throughout the day can get alittle overwhelming. There are also combinations aimed at covering theseareas of need.A site where my family has had great satisfaction in bothservice and product choices/quality is PapaNature.I feel the same wayabout praising them as I do about praising the work of the Balches.Theyalso have additional documentation that exactly parallels Balch's topics inthis great book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for every house
I couldn't put this book down once I started it. It is really wonderful, and I have already started taking a few of the supplements the author suggests. I say "a few" because I found that the author couldhave done a much better job expressing/analyzing his ideas (that's why thefour stars). For example, I am under 25, and there are a few things whichleft me in question as to whether I should start using them or not.If youare not sure of something, like me, you should see the book with yourdoctor and then proceed. If the author could expand a little bit more onhis ideas, it would make the perfect book. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Way too difficult for anyone not deep into homeopathy
I was sadly misled by all these glowing reviews. You'd have to be a herbologist or a wizard from Hogwarts to make these remedies. It's annoying how they keep calling the dog or cat "your companion." And there was nothing in the index about spraying or behaviorial problems.
4-0 out of 5 stars Homeopathic pet care
Good book. Fairly basic or moderate beginner level.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nearly all you need to know
I purchased this book a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the simple way it was laid out.I have just ordered another 2 copies, because my holistic veterinary surgeon 'borrowed' the book and decided to keep it, and an animal naturopath also requested a copy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quackery
I bought this as my first book on homeopathic medicine in order to learn more about it.My conclusion is that there is woefully inadequate evidence to support the theory.
4-0 out of 5 stars Unusual claims require unusually good proof
Homeopathy was pioneered over 200 years ago. Practitioners and patients are convinced it has the power to heal. Today, some of the most famous and influential people in the world, including pop stars, politicians, footballers and even Prince Charles, all use homeopathic remedies. Yet according to traditional science, they are wasting their money. The basic principle of homeopathy is that cures like: that an ailment can be cured by small quantities of substances which produce the same symptoms. For example, it is believed that onions, which produce streaming, itchy eyes, can be used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever. However, many of the ingredients of homeopathic cures are poisonous if taken in large enough quantities. So homeopaths dilute the substances they are using in water or alcohol. This is where scientists become sceptical - because homeopathic solutions are diluted so many times they are unlikely to contain any of the original ingredients at all. Yet many of the people who take homeopathic medicines are convinced that they work. Has science missed something, or could there be a more conventional explanation?
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best home based homeopathy books
Each time this book was reprinted since the 1980's, I've bought the new editions and liked each one even more!I give it to all of my friends new to homeopathy. The chapters focus on specific ailments (sore throats, accidents and injuries, headaches, digestive problems, etc.) and have leading questions to ask the patient to help you find the correct remedy for the acute ailment. There are cautions about when you need to call a health care provider for an illness. And there are enough remedies described that you most often will find the one that will work. It's just a very helpful book and a good introduction to the wonders of homeopathy.I have shelves of homeopathy books, but I often start with this one if one of ourfamily is sick. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
This was a good collection of home remedies with a lot of good information on herbal supplements. When I bought this book, I was specifically looking for more "home remedies" that our grandparents would have told us about. Such as using simple household items that could be found in anyones house at any given time for many different ailments. My grandma had a cure for just about anything right in her own pantry. That kind of information is not in this book, but all around, an informative book.

4-0 out of 5 stars if you only purchase one homeopathy manual... choose this.
as an avid student and patient of homeopathy [18 years and counting] this is still my favorite lay manual of homeopathy. ms. castro provides clear physical, mental and emotional descriptions corresponding with each remedy in a tone and language which is both in-depth and intellegent. you will benefit from her insight into the origin of each remedy as well as the remedy's symptoms/"picture." my well-loved copy is literally falling apart.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good reference book for acute illness
This is a good reference book. When my child is ill I look in this book as well as several others to try to get a picture of an appropriate remedy.Because homeopathy is somewhat complex I think it is better to consult several reference books to gain a good picture of the illness. This book is catagorized by illness ie. common cold, cough, fever etc., which makes it easy to pinpoint the section I am interested in to get an idea of appropriate remedies. It also has a section in back with a more complete picture of many of the remedies mentioned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for those who believe in homeopathy
Well written; easy to read and you can find remedies to match symptoms easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book that could change your life....
One day, I looked up and saw this book sitting on my home bookshelf. Don't ask me how it got there, but the timing was perfect: I discovered that just a few days hence, the author would be teaching at a local bookstore, and I already had the text in hand. It was just one more step on an amazing journey I couldn't have even begun to have predicted.5-0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the teacher's edition!
As a SSR Master Teacher, I've been using this manual for my own Sekhem/Seichim/Reiki practice. The atunements in the back of the book are especially powerful and filled with love. For anyone interested in energy work, I would consider this required reading. Even if you have never been exposed to Reiki before and are interested in learning more about it from one of the best teachers out there (she attuned the woman who attuned me), this is a great book for novices as well as seasoned professionals. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great, compact source.Best for beginners.
I have had this for a number of years. It was the first homeopathic book I bought. My copy is slowly disintegrating from hard use and its weak Indian binding.5-0 out of 5 stars Amazon is selling the Indian edition
This is a great book and indispensable for the lay and professional practitioner alike.Note that Amazon is selling the Indian edition. The American edition has better binding, clearer print, is not as thick and costs more--a forewarning to those of you who expect the Amer. version, which is most common in health stores.Nonetheless, a great reference.

4-0 out of 5 stars My over-all favorite
I have been studying homeopathy for 30 years & when I do not have time to fully repertorize an illness (which is almost NEVER with anything acute these days!) this book is my first resource. It seems to cover most acute illnesses & is especially good for treating colds, flu, stings, gas, teething problems, sore throats, etc....
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent home reference
This is an excellent book overall and is the text for the National Center for Homeopathy's study group course.Dr. Panos gives verbose, anecdotal images of the differences between the different remedies for a given ailment, as well as good general background on homeopathy.

5-0 out of 5 stars An empowering book for everyone
Of all the homeopathic books written for the general public, this is one of the most useful. If you've suffered a minor injury, or come down with a cold, flu or earache, or if you are having an upset stomach, this book willquickly guide you to the correct remedy. It is easily understood by themedical layperson, and it will give you solid knowledge of how to treatyourself and others in a safe, natural way, without the risks, side-effectsand costs of conventional drugs.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wood deserves recognition for this text
My review of this book is written primarily for those who know they are in a spirit(ual) situation and need herbal (life-transforming) assistance. The Book of Herbal Wisdom provides living examples of conditions and living remedies to resolve these conditions. There is a broad scope of subject content, so its somewhat difficult to summarize this book in a paragraph. If you like ethnobotany, you have no excuse - read this book. If you are lacking a degree of health and feel a calling toward Natural remedies - read this book. I personally would go as far as advising you to order each herb listed in this text to use them in homeopathic or tiny dosages while you read about them. It may prove helpful in bringing this text to another level. It is in my opinion fairly high level reading but eloquent and smooth.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece, A Classic, A Literary Goldmine for the Herbal Miner of Truth
As a student of Western herbalism though not Homeopathy specifically or soley, I still found--continue to find--this book one of my greatest literary assets in understanding the contexts, traditions and mostly importantly the herbs I am studying.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best from the Best
Matthew Wood is one of the herbal mentors for my own herbal mentor who is an AHG recognized professional herbalist.Within her herbal apprentice program, this book is required reading, and it is a very good thing that it is. Matthew Wood discusses not only the medicinal values of the herbs but the energetics, almost to the point of the magical.

No Complaints- this is an awesome book, and best of all it is organized by disease. Thorough, unmatchable, and evidence based. Excellent foundation for CAM!Highly recommended for everyone who wants to practice holistic medicine.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!!
I got this book as a gift and have found it to be of great value. Rakel does a great job explaining the options of integrative medicine. Well worth the money!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too much bias
After reading, I am not sure if this book is an objective description the constitutional types or a ranking of Phillip Bailey's personal favorites. It is easy to pick up on a theme that the author has some kind of personal problem with the idiosyncrasies of the majority of the consitutional types. He goes on and on about silica, sulphur and phosphorous which he loves and basically trashes most of the others. It comes off as very judgemental.
5-0 out of 5 stars Homeopathic Psychology
As a Homeopathy student I have found this book extremely helpful as I thought it would be.
5-0 out of 5 stars A very in-depth book about 35 constitutional remedies
This book has written out of the author's own practical experience and his deep descriptions makes the remedies types "come to life" in front of you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear and concise
At first I thought that eating clay was crazy. After reading this book I am a true believer. The author takes a step by step approach that is simple to understand and creates a strong argument for the benefits of this substance.Nature also uses these healing benefits and we are just getting back to our roots of the earth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great source of information
I read this book and it was very helpful to me. It helped me to understand the very mysterious habit of clay eating. With some good anecdotes, and straight-to-the-point writing, I was certainly pleased with the manuscript. There are lots of clays on the marketplace and the author helps the reader to categorize the various clays and choose one that is right for him or her. Not to mention that there are so many different delivery systems for the clay!5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and Interesting
I have always been interested in clay eating. It is such a fascinating topic. I like the book and was able to finish it in good time. It is good easy reading and straight to the point. I just started eating the clay andhoping for good results!Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone
I bought this book for a reason. This is not a reading book it nor it can teach you homeopathy. It wont help you become a homeopath. If you have experience in homeopathy or doing some 2 or 4 years course in Homeopathy. This is the book for you. It will help you to choose the remedy. Basically this book is a list of all possible symptoms and for each symptom their are more than one homeopathy medicine. It may sound tempting but by just buying this book you may never be able to find the correct remedy. The first step (I didnt take this advice seriously) is to read and understand the art and science of taking homeopathic cases understanding words like Rubric, Modalities work with more experienced homeopath. Master the technique of understanding and individualizing the symptoms; then we are talking. I wish someone had given this info before...

2-0 out of 5 stars Great content - Very Poor Quality
The text is difficult to read, and is smudged in some places making it impossible to read. The index markers are not consistent in any way. Some have a tiny font size while others are much larger. In fact the fonts throughout the entire book vary in ways that defy logic. Some change in the middle of a sentence!
