4-0 out of 5 stars Good
A book that teaches the average man about the perils of Viagra and how these can be avoided by using only natural methods. The book explains why Viagra is dangerous to some people and offers a natural and clean alternative for a healthy erection and sex life. A good book but with gaps in structure, i found out that "Volume II - Natural Penis Enlargement: New methods of avoiding and curing impotence, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction safely and inexpensively. ... Book on CD-Rom for PC & Mac Computers" by Platinum Millennium has much more information about sexual disorders and is structured with greater detail than this one

1-0 out of 5 stars Too holistic with recommendations for dangerous herbs!
When a man pays $300 for a consultation with me, I want to be 100% sure that leaving my office his problem will be solved. Dr. Bonnard discusses almost every single way out there which MAY help in one or another way to improve your overall health. However, his approach is too general and he is only scratching on the surface of each topic such as acupuncture, homeopathy, aromatherapy, etc. As a medical doctor, I believe and use only proven and used in the entire world ways to treat erectile dysfunction. Aromatherapy or any other holistic discipline may have some beneficial effect on one's health but this is NOT proven by the medicine.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK...read on
The book has good tips and info that I found helpful reminders I already knew but needed to be refeshed about them I realized. A few things mentioned in the book I found worthy of pen highlighting. However, from the reviews I thought it to have something very outstanding I or most people wouldn't normally or have never known/heard about. Maybe perhaps too on a deeper level this is what I and many others are looking for...a miracle. Perhaps I have to be a bit realistic as well. I think for others who are totally new might find this book enlightening and helpful guide. Having been familar with Perio process first hand, natural heatlth remedies, and veganism...I didn't find the book all that unique or earth shattering. It is a nice, straightforward, primer/overview of some basic things. It is good too for those new to Perio issues that it offers chapter on what happens with a Perio exam what to expect...and so forth. The book explains also what, how, and why gum disease starts. It has a tooth chart but not very helpfull for me in that I would have appreciated an actual mouth drawing like the lay person is familiar with...even having Perio experience first hand doesn't make me an instant dentist. On earlier pages there is a whole run down as to what tooth relates to what parts of the body. However, there is no reference to the fact that a tooth chart exists later on. In fact, the earlier run down has the number and technical name of each tooth..yet not very helpful to the lay person if there is not a useful visual to refer to that corresponds to the numbers and technical names easily. In other words "Tooth Chart for Dummies". The book offers consistant mention of foods that are good for the health of the gums and so forth. It also makes reference to illness and life changes that may involve gum disease...and again it takes the time to mention foods, supplements that can help. The standard mention of the maintainance of good diet, excercise, and such is in the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Important book!!!!!
This is an excellent book! Sandra Senzon shows us wonderful holistic ways to create healty gums, through using healing herbs and many other means. This is an important book and if followed does work! It is curious that more dentist do not use these tools. Sandy Senzon is a wonderful hygenist and a gifted healer. I highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Preventing and reversing gum disease
This is an excellent book written by a very dedicated dental hygienist who does her best to impart her years of acquired wisdom, so that we can take responsibility for our dental health and protect our teeth. The author teaches us that most people lose teeth as they get older, not because of tooth decay, but rather because of gum disease.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Spirituality blends with practical application in an easily-followed guide.
The Western concept of massage concerns itself with muscle manipulation, but Chi Self-Massage focuses on both internal and sense organs and employs Taoist techniques which until recently have been closely guarded secrets. Master Mantak Chia pieces this system into a logical routine any can duplicate, using methods used by these masters to explore the theory and purposes behind Chi Self-Massage. Spirituality blends with practical application in an easily-followed guide.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and understand to empower yourself for better health
Master Chia and his wife have a collection of books based on Chinese healing, specifically dealing with massage, Chi energy or both. This book is an easy-to-use guide even for someone without any background knowledge on the subject and provides a good introduction that is brief and easy enough to understand so the healing can start nearly immediately.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, and easy to use
This is definitely one of his easiest books to use, since it is mostly just simple directions of where to rub for what purpose, and what to visualize as you do it. One night I'd eaten a 2-day old bean soup and was up for hours with nightmarish gas. Finally I remembered I had this book and sat up, rubbing my eyelids and ears and large intestine just the way he recommended. The gas went away and I was totally rejuvenated. Since then I never question anything he suggests! Also, these massages really help me deal with the effects of air travel. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Gaynor Evidences His Own Growth and Acceptance
Healing Essence was highly touted and I purachased it; however, I had a feeling that it was missing something - or I was. Now with this book, Dr. Gaynor, like Chopra, seems to be finding the niche of his essence, and he give the reader the right to find their's.That is HEALING! As a nurse, it was amazing what a sachet of dried lavender attached to a pillow,&backrub would do, or a little music box I carried in my pocket to helpneuro patients calm down. That was the 60s. This book shows the expanse ofsound, and that one's body responds to that which it particularly needs. Having had chemo, the horrors of the traditional rows of chairs and people'yapping,' vs what privacy and sound may have done for me brings tears. Just recently, with a new water 'garden,' I placed it in the living room -discomfort overcame me. It took a week to realize I wanted it in my officenear to me.I do not work such long spells any longer.I integratesounds, and relax! There are so many more options I've yet to try thanks toDr. Gaynor. And, so many practicesI'm going to try to change here inAustin, Texas!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Gaynor brings medicine out of the dark ages
Dr. Gaynor integrates sound and emotion as powerful tools in his medical arsenal leading his patients back to health. His use of the healing power of sound compliments the use of conventional medicine. Dr. Gaynor's guidedmeditations have helped achieve living miralces in "terminal"patients. This book reaffirms anything is possible when we discover whatmade us ill and how we can rebuild our lives during and after illness. This book is a priceless road map to self discovery and joy.I wish Icould give it six stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, Page Turning, Mind Boggling
One of the most fascinating books I have read in the last 20 years (and I've read thousands). The author just presents brief histories and study results (well foot-noted so you can look them up yourself) of different kinds of alternative medicines or energy therapies...you are left to draw your own conclusions.Really makes you think outside the box where traditional Western medicine is concerned....what if we've been barking up the wrong tree all this time...what if there really is something to magnetism, homeopathy, etc.??Can health be that easy and simple?A page-turner I will read again and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! A must-read book!
"In the world of vibrational medicine, illness is thought to be caused by not only germs, chemical toxins, and physical trauma but also by chronic dysfunctional emotional-energy patterns and unhealthy ways of relating to ourselves and to other people" writes physician, metaphysician, scientist and seeker Richard Gerber.4-0 out of 5 stars Very informative, but marred by some silliness
There are two ways to look at reality (and they are mutually exclusive): matter creates life, consciousness and self-consciousness, or consciousness and life create matter. The first isphilosophical materialism, the second is idealism. Transferred to medicine, they are mechanists and vitalists. Modern day medicine is materialist/mechanist (and because of this false premise the medical establishment had to admit in July of 2000 that doctors are the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. Personally I think it's worse than that.) "Vibrational medicine" is idealist/vitalist; it's based on the premise that we are, in a sense, "solidified energy" (which modern physics has proven), and as such, can be treated with various "energy" medicines, e.g. acupuncture and homeopathy. The author covers these two, along with others such as treating disease with light, flower essences, and 'laying on of hands' healing. These parts are informative and useful. Sometimes, unfortunately, he strays into New Age nonsense such as "channeling." Except for these lapses, this is a very educational book, and I would highly recommend it for people who are interested in their health, or the health of their loved ones. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Foundational Reading
This book was shared with me by a college girlfriend who was taking a graduate Biology of the Brain course at the University of Iowa.I confess that I only read it out of love and admiration for her, as I expected only a dry, clinical text. But this book grabbed me with its honesty, its openness, and its accessibility.I found it impossible to put down as I explored a range of substances that I had only heard of, but often wondered what they were and how they worked. The book is written with soul, conscience, great depth of understanding, and honesty.I am grateful to her even today for sharing it with me.I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to understand these substances which are all around us in our communities, like it or not.

'There is none who is worthy of my love or hatred'. -Krishna, Bhagavad Gita.
5-0 out of 5 stars On furthering the truth about mind-altering "drugs"
I first was introduced to this book when a medical student in l976 in Arizona.Presented is a very expansive look at all mind-altering substances used in all cultures, with new definitions of those socially acceptable and not in our own culture. This belongs on every library shelf.I very quickly learned to see the many new insights into behavior vis-a-vis effects of all substances on the mind.I happen to be a fan or Dr. Weil's contraversial health information, but for those who have no interest, this material is fairly unrelated and more of a contribution to our understanding of culturally prescibed and proscribed mind altering substances. As an abstainer from cigarettes, coffee, alcohol, chocolate and recreational drugs, I was better able to understand the behavior of the majority who do use the above. This is also an excellent book for parents of teenagers, to further understanding on this vital topic. We need, as a nation to rethink our policies on a lucrative industry which is not taxed due to not being legal and also to look at the consequences of youthful consequences. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Gathering of Flowers
In the foreword to this book, we are told that the word anthology "literally means a gathering of flowers." The editors of this remarkable collection of essays asked healers from various perspectives to share their ideas, in order to define and foster the "common denominator, or 'golden thread,' that unites all healers and healing methods of ancient, current, and future times."5-0 out of 5 stars Concise summaries of thought from contemporary healers.
Designed "to search for the common denominator......that unites allhealers and healing methods", this book pulls togetheralmost 40relatively short essays by various authors noted for their work in healingbody and soul.Because of this approach, some chapters have more relevancethan others, depending on the interests of the reader.Reading the ideasof a particular author can spark a desire to read more by that person, soin that sense this is a nice overview course on the breadth of attitudesheld by contemporary healers, both traditional and alternative.Itprobably should be included as required reading by all practitioners of thehealing arts.

The author's reverence for health and life shines through; the 1977 edition gets pulled off my shelf every year for a review, as it has for many years.Ms. Berkson was ahead of the wave by integrating reflexology, yoga, nutrition, herbology, acupuncture/acupupressure, and imagery/meditation -- a lovely synthesis from a loving spirit.I haven't seen the re-issued edition yet, but it may have updated information regarding some of the nutritional information. 1-0 out of 5 stars Review of Textbook of Complementary and Alternative Medicine
For me, this textbook is probably one of the worst books for natural health professionals that I have come accross. The 33 chapters cover some very basic concepts, but are generally too vague and often don't display a real understanding of the natural therapies involved that could be useful for natural (and perhaps also medical) practitioners. Each chapter contains loads of references, however, it appears as if some of the authors may not be too familiar with many of their own references quoted. As was stated in the Preface, the book may be useful for medical physicians who want to know the very basics of CAM, but may be of little further use for any other type of health practitioner.

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Bible for Cancer Survival
Margie Levine's very personal and inspirational story offers hope along with pragmatic steps to empower one's self to take charge of their own medical challenge. I read this book because I have several friends who are dealing with their own struggles with cancer. After completing Margie's book, I felt it most certainly would give them a new perspective on coping and taking charge of their own situations. This is a terrific book and I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Use it Daily
I've had this for a month now and use it daily. I find it quickly and simply gets me to a place where I feel the meditation is working to get insights I haven't accessed before. I read a review of it on merliannews.com: "...the author has designed this system to overcome the anguish and bring about deep healing....You may feel an immediate shift in the first reading/meditation, or a sense of the old wounds loosening and softening. If you continue for several days, more good effects continue to roll in - the colors are by turns soothing, energizing and healing." That convinced me to work with the book and I think it is simply fantastic!

The Diamond Color Meditation is a revolutionary approach to meditation by one of the world's great pioneers of holoistic medicine. It is deceptively simple, so much so that I believe most anyone could do it and benefit. It certainly does not require any previous experience of meditation and, indeed, is very different from the usual "passive" Eastern-derived approach.More important, the benefits are immediate, long-lasting and profound.

4-0 out of 5 stars Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia & Lyme Disease
Overall it is very informative. However, it was lacking in areas such as how to manage low blood pressure which is found in 70% of chronic fatigue patients. In fact, the tilt test which is used by the Social Security Administration (for disability claims)as a marker for the syndrome is never mentioned (my blood pressure dropped to 56/33 during this test). Dr. Cheney and Dr. Bell as well as other leading doctors/researchers who were/are the pioneers in identifying and treating CFS/FMS have protocols for low bp which would be helpful to CFS patients. There is little attention paid to the real leaders in this field. Although Teitelbaum, Chaitow, and Lapp were mentioned, other leaders were forgotten. There is serious research being done (and findings) at the University of Oregon and University of Miami that was totally neglected. In place of referencing these leading doctors, physicians like Dr. Haimes are referenced who is skilled with hgh therapy for anti-aging but who is not very knowledgeable with CFS or Fibromylagia nor does he claim to specialize in CFS/FMS treatments (the two syndromes I suffer with and subjects of this book). So readers have to take care not to use these physician references in the book as referrals to doctors who subscribe to the protocols/insights of this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably thorough and right on the money!
Holy Smokes!I have been looking for the answers to my environmental illness/fybromyalgia problems for nearly 3 years, and have just been diagnosed with Lyme Disease as well. The answers to my remaining questions were found IN THIS ONE BOOK!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well documented classic
The previous reviewer who said this book was just a compilation of anecdotes and imagination didn't read carefully.Dr. Valnet includes several medical case studies as well as detailed anecdotes. The medical establishment is notorious for discounting "common wisdom" when it comes to herbals, and yet this information has been passed on for generations. Dr. Valnet, as a medical doctor, includes the uses as well as some warnings. His writing is sometimes difficult to understand, as he uses a lot of medical terminology, some of which is European. But the glossary in the back helps tremendously.I'm just beginning on my herbal education road, and I chose this book because so many other herbals refer to it.It's challenging getting through the introduction and the whys/wherefores.But once the foundation information is established, the rest goes quickly and easily.Contains listings by herb as well as by ailment, making it easy to study either a single herb or try different approaches for a single ailment.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Practice of Aromatherapy : A Classic Compendium of Plant Medicines and Their Healing Properties
What can I say - It's a must have if you are at all serious about understanding Aromatherapy and the philosophy behind it.
2-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but not Convincing
This seems to be a typical old-fashioned herbal, only with emphasis on essential oils and aromatics rather than simply herbs. In other words, lots of untested claims. I assume they're untested, as the author provides little evidence for his assertions, save a very few anecdotal stories. I have no problem with anecdotal evidence, but I'd like rather more of it if I'm to be reassured a treatment is worth trying. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to Alexander's Technique!
This is the best overall introduction to the Alexander Technique that I've come across--and I've read my fair share of AT books. While it's a bit wordy, in part that can be explained by the fact that it was originally written in England. I personally find most books written in England are much wordier than books written in the United States, and they tend to have a peculiarly bland quality about them that sometimes can make them difficult to read. This book has some of those features, but if I were you and wanting to learn about the Alexander Technique, I wouldn't let the writing get in the way of my education. And there is enough informational meat in this book that it is worth overlooking the occasionally bland writing style.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For ANYONE interersted in Reiki-A very good instructional guide
Penelope Quest's book is a very in depth and insightful book for anyone interested in not only learning about Reiki, but for those teachers that are interested in using an additional text to their own materials. I use this book with students both in person and distance. All have found it very helpful in explaining the concepts as well as the actual practice of Reiki. I would highly recommend this book!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Reiki Book Ever!
This is the Reiki book you've been waiting for!It is really comprehensive, well written, easy to understand, and useful for anyone with an interest in Reiki, from beginners right up to Reiki Masters. It gives a good grounding in energy theory and the metaphysical causes of illness, plenty of basic information about how Reiki was discovered, how it has developed in the West and in Japan, and what the training involves at each level. However, its main strength is the way it explains how to use Reiki at each level, including all the hand positions and lots of advanced Second Degree techniques you won't find in any other book, plus creative uses for Reiki like enhancing your psychic ability and healing past lives. It includes some vital information about the need for energy cleansing and protection, plus many additional techniques from the Reiki traditions in Japan.Added to that, it emphasises the importance of spiritual development with Reiki, suggests how to manage Reiki sessions and set up as a professional Practitioner, advises on how to become a Reiki Master, and gives brief details of 28 different Reiki systems! It's an easy read, but an amazing resource that you'll want to go back to again and again - definitely the best Reiki book ever! ... Read more
