Peter Deadman's A Manual of Acupuncture
Not possible to find a better English language reference source than this book. I have used the book in hard copy but prefer it on CD. Quick to find items using CD and a notebook and CD weigh less that the actual manual. The pronunciations that come with the book on CD seem accurate, depending on the area from whence your Chinese comes. Good background data for all point locations and rationale for their use.

This is the best book of veterinary acupuncture that I know that it is for sale for the internet.
It is a simple and easy book of understanding, of the way that the students, in the course beginning, need to understand the Chinese medicine, mainly the acupuncture. But for an acupunturista he is also very useful, because it serves as much as a study book and of headboard as of fast consultation, in spite of his size to turn it a little difficult to transport. But I always drop it off at my clinic and I read it whenever it remains a time. Each reading that I do learns a little more. I already possess there is him two years and I still didn't get to read it entirely. It is the book that more has been contributing to my learning as acupunturist. I recommend and a lot to all that are interested in the subject: Chinese medicine and veterinary acupuncture.

A good primer
This is a wonderful text on complementary medical therapies for pets. I highly recommend it and as a fellow holistic veterinarian and author (8 Weeks to a Healthy Dog, The Allergy Solution for Dogs, and the award-winning The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats,) I found the information quite useful.
Loaded with information!
Very thorough book on veterinary acupuncture. It seems intended for veterinarians which may make it hard to digest for the lay person. The theory is very well explained, the chapters on history and studies are informative and the illustrations of points charts are excellent. It lacks on the practical side though. It gives you general knowledge but does not go deep into how to do point selection in relation to your clinical findings.Read more

Acupressure Potent Points by Michael Reed Gach

Acupressure's Potent Points
Excellent self help guide. I did check with my own doctor per the instructions in the book.Found it a great help in between visits, with excellent guidelines. This book is also great if you are going on vacation, and have an existing problem which could bother you while away

The formatting is its downfall
I needed a quick reference for the accupressure points that are relevant to various ailments, but this book drowns the essential usefulness of accupressure with entirely too many words.It tries to present theory and anecdotes in addition to a listing of accupressure points, and ends up being unbearably repetitive.While each treatment has a step-by-step accompanied by photos and lengthy descriptions, a better format would have been to present a short list of the most effective points followed by secondary points for each treatment.As it is, a person who is trying to perform the steps would be too busy reading, rather than concentrating on the points themselves.

A great little review book
I really recommend buying this book. It's better than Mosby's Review, because it actually simplifies the concepts for you. I didn't get a feeling of being overwhelmed when I studied from this book. It's a good review for anatomy in general. It gives a great overview of each system, and I love that it went over contraindications for each disorder/disease too(very important). The only thing it is lacking would be information on Modalities. There just isn't enough. I got at least 4 or 5 questions(it may not seem like a lot, but it is, trust me) on Aromatherapy and essential oils (which ones do what, etc.) on my NCE, and if it weren't for my essential oil-addicted teacher in class, I wouldn't have had a clue about aromatherapy.
This is not needed for the TN test for NCBTMB
Nothing from this book is on the test. Yes it is a good book but if you are looking for a good study guide to take the test in TN please look elsewhere I know it has cost me another 225.00 to retake the test!

Disappointed.....
I purchased this book a few months ago, because of the reviews on Amazon. I used this study guide, made a few hundred flash cards and aced the review exams, but on the day I actually took the National Exam I failed. I was blown away by the difference between the type of questons asked on the exam vs. how I thought it was going to be from this review book. Yes, it was helpful to a degree, but I wouldn't bother purchasing save your money and spend it somewhere else. It is misleading.

As a medical professional, I have an interest in what works to bring health to the system.At times, alternative medicines when appropriately applied, in the hands of the right people, ones trained in health care and disease, can offer stimulating results.But the question of how to obtain reliable material to diagnose and treat a disease remains a current issue.This book helps bridge the gap between Chinese diagnostics and the Western approach to disease.Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis provides visual illustrations of various ailments, mapped outwardly on the tongue, and includes written descriptions and symptoms.When applicable, it correlates the topography of the tongue to Western disease.However, the book is not all inclusive.It lacks treatment.I would suggest a companion, Radiant Health by Ron Teeguarden.Teeguarden's work covers portions of the ancient Chinese art of health and offers a treatment program designed to correct deficencies and disturbances in Qi.The two together provide a reliable source for a medical professional to understand and apply the basics in Chinese medicine.I highly rate this book when accompanied with Teeguarden's.

Excellent atlas of tongue diagnosis
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Chinese tongue diagnosis.The book is divided into sections according to pattern (Kidney disharmonies, Stomach and Spleen disharmonies, etc).Each section contains approximately 30 full-color, well-photographed tongues representing the pattern.This makes it easy to see the range of tongue signs for each pattern.Also, the description of the tongue, the patient's symptoms, Western diagnosis and Chinese diagnosis are printed next to the photo of the tongue for easy reference.(You don't have to flip back and forth between the text pages and the color plates, as in Maciocia's Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine.)This book isn't cheap, but the quality of the photographs and the clear description of the tongues makes it a very worthwile investment. ... If TFT isn't working for you, see someone who is an experienced TFT practitioner!
Thought Field Therapy is real, and it has worked for me, clearing old traumas, anger and sadness. It was quick, and very powerful. HOWEVER, my therapist, walked me through it. The first time was in her office. Years later, I was living in another state, and called her to see if we could work over the phone about something that came up. She walked me through TFT again, and WOW, stuff poured out, and cleared up.
TFT is an easy, fast and effective way to address the psycho-emotional realm.
It can be very effective to help people who are stuck and seem to not heal because of psychological reasons. Often one session is enough to treat/cure a phobia for example! TFT is the main healing modality in use today to address emotional and spiritual issues. You'll find it is truly remarkable the way TFT combines Oriental Medicine (acupuncture points) and Body Centered Psychotherapy in one effective treatment. The other great thing is that it is possible and easy to treat oneself for a lot of conditions. Roger Callahan's system is composed of procedures that consist on tapping on certain acupuncture points that are connected with certain types of emotions. By tapping on these points, we are able to cleanse the emotional energetic charge that is connected with a particular situation or event that is the source of stress, fear, anxiety, pain and sorrow, anger, rage, and so on. So that at the end of the treatment we are able to be neutral and non-affected in front of this particular situation or event or while remembering anything traumatic that happened in the past. From this neutral place we can look at a traumatic situation and just say, 'yes it happened' and move on with our life.

Pretty interesting!
I am new to this kind of therapy - the book wasn't exactly what I'd thought it was going to be, guess I didn't bother to read all the reviews or other info about it before ordering. BUT it did bring about some change in my life. I would recommend it especially for people with the particular problems it tries to help resolve. I take acupuncture treatments and was looking for more of a health oriented book, this deals with exactly what the title states such as overcoming guilt. Could have used better pictures
The book is a pretty good introduction to tongue diagnosis. It could have been more exhaustive, though.

Every MT who wants to move beyond Swedish massage should read this
This was the book that convinced me that I could indeed so something more interesting with an LMT license than just "slapping bodies" at a spa. It opened my eyes to a whole range of new possibilities and confirmed ideas and approaches I had suspected but not articulated yet. Excellent articulation of intelligent, sophisticated and sensitive modes of touch and therapy.

Finally, the Auriculotherapy textbook
The 3rd edition of Auriculotherapy Manual by Terry Oleson can be used as a standard textbook. In my view, this is a highest praise in the world of acupuncture with its differing approaches and disparate methods. Those differences are necessary, I must add, as it is the nature of acupuncture to depend greatly on personal needs of the patient and abilities of the practitioner.
A useful book for the experienced
There is no doubt this book is comprehensive, combining a variety of different styles of ear acupuncture in one book.There are lots of diagrams of ears showing you the location of the different points of the different styles, which can be a bit overwhelming and confusing for the newcomer.If you are experienced in this field and/or need to know this level of detail on ear acupuncture, this is the book for you.If you just want the basics of one form of ear acupuncture, I suggest�gChinese Auricular Therapy�h by Bai Xinghua (Scientific & Technical Documents Publishing House; ISBN: 7502322612), which is a good standard for Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners.

A true east-meets-west medical model
Terry Oleson's Auriculotherapy Manual is the mostcomprehensive text on the subject.If you are practicing Auriculotherapy (a system of ear acupuncture) or intending to do so, this manual is a must-have.This edition is a vast improvement over the previous, which was difficult to use.The new edition is certainly not easy to use, but it's an improvement.The subject is deceptively complex.Just sticking a needle in someone's ear is not Auriculotherapy--there is a level of understanding required to use the system effectively, and using a medical feedback mechanism is essential.Read more

This looks like fraud
I did this treatment for my son with Autism. We went to a local practitioner and paid about $125 per hour and it did not work.

Does NAET work? Evidence to the contrary.
I'll keep this short because the book is well reviewed by others. You must go to a licensed practitioner of this art to receive treatments ... dozens of treatments. If you are persuaded by this book, it will still take your faith in the writer and endorsers to embark on a series of treatments that will take many hours of your time and thousands of dollars - with no warranty expressed or implied, if you know what I mean.

Super excellent production
This book is super excellent on every part. Is concise, very graphic and very easy to understand. The best is that has every theme on the same book. The only thing I don't like is the external plastic cover because it fall apart so quikly. The rest is fabulous.

Touch for health- new edition
It is a very complete edition compared to the last ones which i felt were sub standard. The only thing i would have found useful were - if the colour of the tabs represented the colours of the 5 elements. its a small detail perhaps but important to a practitioner. otherwise excellently laid out.

I have had no training in 'Touch For Health' and I am finding the book really easy to grasp and to put into practice. Makes pulse diagnosis easy for anybody
I Realy enjoyed this book. It makes pulse diagnosis acceessible to anybody even without a lot of experience. Very clear and sharp distinctions are made between the different pulses. The writer shares his experience which realy helps.

Wonderful
This is the best book I've found on Amazon that has all a person needs to know about starting massage.There's information on table heights, contraindications, business practices and everything else.I would recommend this to anyone interested in taking a massage course, or starting in the profession.

Goodreference for national board massage exam
I used this book for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodwork.It is useful as good knowledge source for the massage techniques parts of the exam.It is also listed as a reference by the National Certification Board of Massage and Bodywork for the NCETMB.I also used the following books which were very good: Medically detailed & Belongs under Nursing as well.

Great assistance to energy work
A good reference book for those in an equine therapy role.

good introduction
This is an interesting and well written book on equine acupressure, and also the only on the market! Very clear and simple explanation on TCM (traditional chinese medicine) and principles behind it all. This is a keeper!
I purchased the book and the video tape. It is truly an excellent reference manual and I believe is a good basis start with. It's easy to understand and you can go out and start doing it. It's nice how the book has different ailments broken down so you can refer to a specific problem without wading through a bunch of text. My horses love it and I love doing it for them. ... Read more

A Voluminous (only slightly flawed) Mainstay
This book got short shrift in our education even though we bought in in the first year or two. Still a worthwhile reference
When I was in college, we learned the ill-fated Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion for exams, but this was the book we actually used in acupuncture classes. We called it the "Shanghai book," as it is an abridged translation of a four-volume set, originally published in Chinese in 1962 by the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, revised in 1974. Since most of our teachers were from Shanghai, this book was the favorite for teaching English-speaking students.Read more

A Must Have
A must have for beginers, even for therapists that have been in business for a while. Great marketing ideas and tips.This book has changed my practice, by not only giving me the confidence I needed but also to be able to follow through with ideas and the know how on how to do it in a more professional manner. Loved it and couldn't put it down
It's been the best book on massage marketing that I have read and better than any massage marketing class that I have attended. I really couldn't put it down and spent all my down time reading.Most of the suggestions are in practice by many, I'm sure, but it's just some common sense advice that she gives or maybe just a positive attitude towards our service oriented careers that has made a big difference for me.I can't say that since I've read the book (one month ago) that I've had a surge in clients, but it's made the clients I have more satisfied. And my head is definitely filled with new ideas.

The information is a good overview of the business side of things. I haven't looked at the CD yet.However, it really is meant for TCM and not physician acupuncturists trying to integrate acupuncture into their business model. There are some good chapters though on workers compensation. Overall, the info was decent but the text is priced too high. I'd recommend finding a used copy if possible. ... Read more

Trigger Point Therapy for Myofascial Pain
This manual is concise and easy to use.I bought it to use as a ready-reference in my practice and am very happy with the presentation.It can be flicked through quickly to find the relevant muscle or group you are evaluating and the text is easy to follow giving the main points under headings.The drawings are excellent.
Revises, expands the original INFORMED TOUCH with more techniques!
Donna works with Steven Finando, Ph.D., L.A.c. in TRIGGER POINT THERAPY FOR MYOFASCHIAL PAIN: THE PRACTICE OF INFORMED TOUCH , which goes a step farther in revising and expanding the original edition of INFORMED TOUCH to include chapters on qi, palpatory skills-building and more.
