1-0 out of 5 stars Cure HIV/Aids with diet, exercise and castor oil packs?
While I have an excellent understanding of the metaphysical philosopy, the idea that one can diagnose and cure disease such as HIV and Aids with diet, castor oil packs and the like, is absurd. As a registered nurse, my first and only encounter with this author, leaves me unsure, other than book sales, why she would make this claim.
2-0 out of 5 stars Misses the mark and with leaps in logic to hasty conclusions
I have to preface this review by saying that I am not a Caroline Myss fan. This is not based upon my past religious upbringing, but rather on her approach to an attempted synthesis between the Jewish, Christian and Hindu teachings on metaphysics and energy systems. In short, I think she missed the mark and tried to force fit areas together based more on her assumptions about reality than a natural meshing together of concepts.
3-0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings
for most of my life, I have felt that a connection exists between our psychological and emotional experiences and the illnesses we develop, that in many ways our illnesses represent a metaphor for the emotional and spiritual crises that we go through.over the course of the last few years I have been exploring different forms of spirituality and healing practices that integrate spirituality with an understanding of the body.in a lot of places I would read references to the idea I described above, of illness as a manifestation of spiritual crises, but no one ever really seemed to go in to the subject at great length.so I was excited when I found Myss's book, as it seemed to delve deeply into this subject, and also explored the relationship between healing and mysticism.

4-0 out of 5 stars What a great textbook!
This is one of our required textbooks at the school I'm attending and it is structured in such a way as to make the information you need quickly easy to find.
3-0 out of 5 stars Healthy Healing that's also a commercial
There is a lot of good information in this book, but the information is often overshadowed by the fact that the book feels like a several-hundred page advertisement for the nutritional supplements Linda Page sells through her company. If you can get past the fact that she mostly recommends her own products, there are important things to be learned from the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great information!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very easy way to be introducted to this concept
This is a book that is very easy to read and introduces a western person to concepts of Budism without the religious part.It is a great way to learn concepts that are helpful in daily life.It can help a person to be more focused and effective in life by being mindful. This is a must read.He also has CDs or Tapes for meditation which are very easy to learn to meditate from.It is not religious either. It is just focusing on your breath. This is budism that can be incorporated into the life of anyone of any faith because it is just the concepts and not the religious aspects, but after learning these things one might want to explore more into a faith that creates such wonderful things.

this book is ok i didnt find it very interesting for a mature mind it lacks inthusiasm for the reader although informative.

4-0 out of 5 stars Heal Your Body/New Cover (Paperback)
Easy to read; good suggestions for change. Good resource book for therapists/counselors working with clients having anxiety disorders and/or depression.

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Book, Powerful Words
I have given away several copies of this book and reference it in my presentations and small retreats.Similar to another reviewer with a charismatic background, I was surprised that I now recommend this book! However, in my case I found the ideas in this book (but not necessarily in all her books) to be very consistent with faith, positive confessions and words that "create."We have a God-given creative ability that can be blocked by what is in our unconscious. Our unidentified/unaddressed negative thoughts or emotions (hurt, anger, bitterness) counteract everything positive that we read/believe in our conscious mind. When you address those things, all of you is on the same page, and it's very powerful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Feel great!
I don't really see this as a diet, it's so much more. I've elimanated toxins and regained my health, have energy, and understand my body and what foods I'm allergic to. My husband and I did the Detox Box, and would recommend it to everyone. We now want to continue to Detox with each season change (4x a year). We both lost weight, stopped drinking coffee, and now eat with much more awareness. We were following the UltraMetabolism program for 2 months (also by Dr. Mark Hyman) before we started the Detox. We stayed on the Detox for 28 days, one week longer than suggested. We are back on the UltraMetabolism program for about 2 weeks now. I've lost more than 30 lbs, and so has my husband.I know I am following a program that is very healthy and I feel great mentally and physically!

2-0 out of 5 stars buy this only after really committing....
This product was very interesting and informative.Difficult to follow detox rules are made much easier with this product that breaks down each stage and day into an easy to follow cue card format.A lot of info is consisely written into a cue card format.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun

2-0 out of 5 stars Not his best work
I love Dyer's voice and thought this would be quite incredible so my expectations were high ~ my mistake. All is well until it comes to the sounds he is instructing the listener to chant and then his voice becomes the most annoying drone that distracts the meditation and thus defeats the purpose.Later he adds some affirmations that seem out of place and throws your focus off even further. It may have been helpful if he had included some music in the background to make the recording more relaxing and give the listener something else to hear besides Dyer breathing between chants.Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of his work and always will be.However, I'm a little surprised that this recording remains on the market rather than being re-recorded to bring the quality to a higher standard.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Cruisin' Meditation
I love this CD.I have always felt silling trying to meditate at home, but have been using this in the car during my commute to and from home. No, I am not zoning-out while driving!I just chant along with Wayne & find myself calmer and more centered when I arrive at my destination. It's a great way to "shed the workday" before you get home.

4-0 out of 5 stars Let's learn all the facts.
I don't know, myself, exactly what I think of craniosacral therapy. But I've made a point of searching out the most sceptical material I could find on the subject, and I have read the ENTIRE BCC meta-study on it that was released a few years ago, not just Stephen Barett's opinions on it (which is all that some commenters have read, I think!) This "study of studies" was basically for the purposes of trying to decide if craniosacral therapy should be covered by third-party payers, and it reviewed all studies to date. It basically came up with three conclusions:
5-0 out of 5 stars Controversial but not quite a quack science
Au contraire Mr. Deveno, everyone knows the cranial rhythmic impulse, like the pulse rate and blood pressure, varies from time to time and from person to person and from measurer to measurer. But this is an aside. A recent article in the respected Journal of Pediatrics, showed that osteopathic manipulation (which included CST) helped in cases of otitis media (i.e. ear infections). What makes CST controversial is the theory that the cranial sutures are being moved and that cerebrospinal fluid motion is being influenced. This is the theory behind CST. For all we know the working mechanism of CST could be completely different. Upledger's book is well written and gives practical advice on the treatment of patients, as well as the current working theory behind CST. He includes not only his variation of the vault maneuvers, but also the classical vault maneuvers developed by Sutherland.By the way it should be noted that Upledger taught CST at MSU-College of Osteopathic Medicine which is consistently ranked as a top 50 medical school by US News and World Report.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why craniosacral therapy is a quack science ...
In various studies of craniosacral therapy, when multiple practioners are asked to determine the craniosacral pulse rate of a common set of patients they quite consistently fail to agree on rates. But this is an aside, the fact of the matter is that bones of the skull really are fused after a certain age of childhood. Craniosacral therapy has been objectively studied ... and found wanting. This is the primary reason why most respectable osteopathic teaching schools have decided to leave craniosacral therapy off the curriculum. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Dash Diet Action Plan
It was a great read. It was informative but not a boring. I would reccomend this to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book makes it easy!
The other books, and the federal guidelines didn't make it easy to follow the DASH diet. Finally, a book that makes it practical. It has real life suggestions, without getting too bogged down in the minutia of how the research was done. This plan helped me lower my blood pressure. And I didn't expect that I would find it so easy to lose weight, too. Real common sense approach (that isn't really so common today). Definately recommended for anyone who wants a healthy way of eating, rather than a fad diet that makes big promises.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but overpriced
When I received this book, I almost thought it was the wrong book.Although there is a lot of information, much of it is common sense.I received another book that was less than $10 more but the author is well known and the book was three times the size with pictures and extensive information. If this DASH book is going to get many sales, the price definitely needs to drop.I was honestly expecting a lot of recipes and would never have ordered it if I hadn't seen it first.Sorry. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Important work if one understands its place
This is an important work, helping to document the validity of herbal medicine. However, it is not an all-encompassing work and obviously isn't referenced. Nevertheless, the German Commission E's method of publishing monographs based on the information gathered from companies, researchers, and practitioners (but apparently kept confidential) serves a useful purpose. It is always helpful to consult this text to get some solid conformation for common traditional uses. Every practitioner and researcher should have this book, though it certainly cannot be used in a vacuum.

2-0 out of 5 stars Huge Disappointment!
I had hoped this book could be my benchmark for herbal information. What I found was a book that was hard to use with little useful information....Otherwise, Facts and Comparisions' Review of Natural Products is a better choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Solid and Dependable Work on the Market
I have worked with herbs for many decades and have shelves and shelves full of works on Herbs and Healing. The German Commission E Monographs is still an often used Reference that in my oppinion belongs on everyone's shelf who works with Herbs. True, it does not cover all that the herbs are capable of and due to lack of proof, many wonderful herbs are not approved, BUT, and this is most important, whatever you find in this book is scientifically proven and you can believe it. I VERY strongly recomend this book, and the CD as well.Whenever you explore a new herb, or need to know facts, check it out in the Commission E Monographs. Then you have a very good outline from where you can start to work with, and together with other herbals get to know and experiment to arrive at your own conclusion. And that is not to mention the inclusion of interaction with other drugs, side effects, mode of administration, active composition for each monograph and different chapters that cover all that is important.A MUST for every practitioner and professional. A MUST for Everyone involved in healing, period. If you can only buy one book on herbs, I would recomend this one. Herbs are gentle and effective healers as a rule. That does not mean that when handeled and prescribed wrong they can't be fatal and dangerous as well.Due to a long time of suppression, there's much information that is doubtful at best, plain wrong and harmful at worst. So even if it's not always approving old favorites, and not mentioning all properties of all herbs, it is an amazing work. Non Nonsense and you can count on everything it says to be true. Five Stars? No way, but that's the maximum available. I would give it many more if I could. But YOU be the judge. Check it out for yourself in a store if in doubt. But don't let this work pass you without giving it a chance. It is truly a treassure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Absolutely the best first book to get on the subject of essential oils.I have purchased a few others, and this is by far, the best in the lot.I take it everywhere.
5-0 out of 5 stars Useful
There are other reviews that go into great detail about what is in this book. I will only add this and say it has been a useful book in many ways. It has paid for itself in stress relief recipes alone. It is interesting and helpful and has cured what ails my family many times over.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for essential oil blends
I love using this book to compare and contrast with Roberta Wilson's "Aromatherapy: Essential Oils for Vibrant Health and Beauty."The two books are similar in many ways, though I do consider Roberta Wilson's book to be somewhat better.Nevertheless, I'd still recommend having both on hand, as you can learn a lot from both. There are many blends to choose from in Worwood's book, and lots of ways to get ideas to formulate your own blends.I also enjoy the fact that the book is grouped by condition, which makes it very easy to find information regarding specific issues. There's also a lot of background information on both essential oils and the various states of being they address.I do have one gripe, though, and strangely enough, it's not even about her coverage of essential oils.In one of the chapters, she refers to Bloody Mary as Queen of Scots, which just blows me away, as these are two totally different people.I really would have expected a better knowledge of Northern European history coming from a native of that very region.Other than that and Worwood's questionable knowledge of felines where EOs are concerned, I would still recommend this book as a good addition to your essential oil library. ... I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
2-0 out of 5 stars No comfort food recipes
I was very disappointed that this cookbook didn't have more comfort food recipes. It used ingredients that you wouldn't normally have on hand.I was looking for recipes for meatloaf, mac & cheese.I won't buy another cookbook that I can't review first.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book drove me to drink.
Very informative. This was the book I needed to give me the confidence to begin. I was curious about the subject and wanted to begin a program of diet and detoxicfication; however, I questioned the sanity of the venture.Steve Meyerowitz does a terrific job of dispelling any fears and he makes sense of the practice of fasting safely. A very complete study on the subject including a nice aray of receipes.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Guide for Everyone to Detox and Become Healthy
I found this book to be a great tool for all methods of detoxing concerning liquids. The author explains the nutrition and healing methods of different juices concisely and without the "bull" in most books.I read through this book in an afternoon - I literally could not put it down. The author covers water, fruit juice, vegetable juice, and liquid detoxing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Mr. Meyerwitz knows his stuff
Don't listen to the reviewers who gave this book low stars and complained that it was "too simple" or "cultish" or "anti-religious" or "too religious". They obviously didn't understand, apply, or perhaps even read through the information.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
As I read this book, I get the "eureka!"-feeling at nearly every turn of page. It all seems so logical when Myers lays it out. This book has really sparked my interest for Structural Integration therapy and I am going to order all of the Anatomy Trains DVDs - the first three are already on the way. I can also heartily recommend Ida P. Rolf's books on Structural Integration - she's the originator and (or should that be "but") is easily understood, just like Myers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended
Easy to read and use.I am a massage therapist and this book has helped me emensely.

5-0 out of 5 stars ANew, Global View of the body
I have been a professional body therapist since 1979.Anatomy Trains is one of the best books I have seen in my entire career spanning 36 years. This is a great book for all kinds of body therapy styles and forms. The book clearly states and I agree that a detailed knowledge of human anatomy is necessary to follow and understand the book. ... A great resource book for everyone. Everyone can benefit something from using this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Help for Borderlines who really want help
This is an amazing workbook. The first time I looked through it, I thought is was over-simplified and would not be of much use to me.But I was wrong. It teaches readers how to understand where their emotions come from, how to identify emotions that seem to come out of nowhere, and how to control how we react to those overwhelming emotions. It's indispensible for anyone who has Borderline Personality Disorder and truly wants to get better. It's also great for anyone who has difficult controling extreme emotional feelings. The workbook format makes this very easy to read. The exercises are very helpful and informative.Heck, some of them are even fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for clients
I've found this to be a very user-friendly, readable workbook.Interesting, informative and normalizing w/o unnecessary jargon or psychobabble.I'm going through it with a client who's learning what it means to be "borderline".The DBT principles are beautifully woven in.It is a great introduction to her of what a DBT group could offer her and a very helpful adjunct to our individual therapy, especially now while a DBT group is not an option for her. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars very interesting contents for acupuncturitst and biomedicine
This book wrote very interesting contents for acupuncturist and biomedical researchers. what is Energy medicine? this book wrote not difficult! understand easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars The communicating whole
Oschman did something quite exceptional in this book; he expressed my understanding of the way living things work, but went beyond my dark intuitive sense of the significance of the whole, to a crisp, intellectual, yet poetic, expression of the parts in relation to that whole

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional compilation of research
I received this book from Amazon a few days ago and am halfway through it. I'm so impressed by Oschman's compilation of research - it's provided me with countless answers I've been seeking all my life. I am a degreed mechanical engineer, and am currently getting an advanced degree in Oriental Medicine. I've also been practicing Reiki and other energy healing modalities for several years, having been drawn into these alternative healing fields because of my natural ability for sensing subtle energies ever since I was little. Until I started reading Oschman's book I never had a scientific explanation for this energy or why it was so helpful in healing others. I've always known that these energies are real but I definitely appreciate a scientific explanation for any type of energy phenomenon - it makes it much easier to explain to others who haven't had similar experiences why and how they happen. I meet a lot of people who are interested in energy healing and some who are quite skeptical of its validity. Thanks to this book, I now have a clear way of explaining what I and countless others have known all along - that energy medicine really does work. If you're simply curious about why energy medicine works, or you're a practitioner yourself and have wanted a scientific way of explaining its validity to your friends and clients, you'll definitely appreciate this book (even with the $40 price tag). Keep in mind, however, that this book will not teach you how to practice any of these energy medicine techniques - it will simply give you a very clear and easy way to explain why they work. ... Editorial Review

The first edition of this workbook is regarded as a classic in its field, and was the first book to introduce trigger point therapy to the general public as a self-care tool for alleviating chronic pain caused by a variety of conditions, including arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, headache, muscle ache, and repetitive strain injuries. As the author makes clear, all such conditions are related to lack of oxygen in exhausted or injured muscle tissue. Trigger point therapyhas been used for decades by doctors, pain specialists, and massage therapists to quickly stimulate the flow of oxygen and promote rapid pain reduction. This book makes the same techniques available to the general public with instructions that are easy to follow, and abetted by an extensive collection of charts and corresponding illustrations. 4-0 out of 5 stars Okay, But...
This a good trigger point therapy workbook, complete with "rubberball" tools, but the problem is, once again, this therapy is being touted as the "be-all-end-all" approach to pain management and health.Trigger point is a modality, a bodywork modality, and needs to be recognized as such.Just as massage, reflexology, and shiatsu are modalities, there needs to be a line drawn so people don't confuse this with a health book.Gangi's book does much better in defining our path to balanced health, and also redefines therapies such as this one so people aren't confused or misled. High on the list because it's used in massage schools, but not the best for people wanting to find the cause of their pain, and then dealing with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Useful Book for Me
The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook is founded on Travell and Simons' research, but it's Travell and Simons LITE.Sixteen-hundred pages of difficult medical language have been reduced to a concise, easy-to-read 323 pages, while retaining all the essentials of trigger point science.
5-0 out of 5 stars 'Trigger Happy'
Feel a sore "knot" in your neck? Back? Leg? Then you likely know trigger points. Headaches? Sore back? Hip? Then you likely know trigger points. Why not get to know them better - and help them move out! The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook clearly explains trigger points, how to locate them, and how to de-activate them. There are well over 100 muscles identified (including pronunciations) in this book. The delightful news is that you don't need to learn them all (or how to pronounce them) before you begin! Thanks to the smartly-designed illustrations and easy-to-understand guidelines, you can begin the healing process right away! Being a colossal skeptic, I am hesitant whenever I encounter an exaggerated claim...but here goes. This book has actually changed my life! And I'm confident it will continue to do so. Within two days of using this book, I felt genuine relief from my long-time companion: pain. As a great believer in the "patient, heal thyself" approach, I have tried many remedies over the years - including massage, reflexology and accupressure. I continued the search. I was aware of trigger points and some of the mischief they can cause, however, it was not until I came across this book that I actually understood trigger points. This book has changed my life - and I'm thrilled to have found it! Can this book change your life? Yes. Will this book change your life? I encourage even the most skeptic of skeptics to give it a try. You will be glad you did. Mr. Davies and his daughter, Amber, have given us the tools to help us help ourselves heal. They note on page 45: "You deserve to be pain free. Give yourself this gift." It's in your hands - literally. A piece of advice...get yourself a good highlighter. You'll want one. Happy healing!
