5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful Introduction
This simple, sensitive book is a wonderful introduction to those new to therapy and/or exploring their childhood histories of abuse. It is written for people of all backgrounds and thus is accessible to most. I've probably referred well over a hundred people to this book at some point in their therapy. Reactions have included "It doesn't apply to me", but were mostly along the lines of "I couldn't put it down - I kept reading and re-reading it." The beauty and power of it lies in it's simplicity. It's almost impossible to get lost in it intellectually - you have the space to "get it" emotionally.

2-0 out of 5 stars Outgrowing But Up-growing
I thought it was a little immature. Not for older readers. It's for young teens to sit around and read to understand their "so-called" feelings about what they have experienced in the recent past. Or a older teen that just remember about a past experienced about at the ages of 4-6. Not for prelonged abuse survivors.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good read--but a bit short
This is a simple read to get a survivor physical, emotional, or sexual abuse started. I found it a bit lacking in depth--perhaps because it is so short--and I did not care for the illustrations. Again, recommended as a good starting point. For a more in-depth examination of this subject, I found Miss America By Day by Marilyn VanDerber to be extremely compelling. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
This book is the most comprehensive book I have read.It truly helps the newbies that are interested in pilates.I have a better understanding of my body and it has helped me truly understand pilates and how it affects my body, not just my core.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in pilates.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must read!!!
Pelvic Power is an awesome book to read and apply to your life. My once awful sciatica is now non-existent thanks to proper care and the aid of this book. I found areas in my pelvic floor region that needed attention that normally dancers don't even think about during our careers!! THe flexibility and control is remarkable and the results are immediate. I look forward to enjoying a very ahppy married life in the future, LOL!!

5-0 out of 5 stars best exercise book purchase ever
This book has helped me more than a very expensive pelvic floor workshop I attended which just taught me how to become tense. These are the best fourteen bucks I have spent in exercise literature. The book has to be slowly digested and paced to fully grasp the content. The explanations are simple and the visuals are wonderful, but the simplicity is deceptive: the subtle movements require complete calm and focus. I have a lot of problems around the pelvic/hip/lumbar region and these exercises are a treasure to me. I feel I have only started taping into the benefits they can bring if done correctly. I keep coming back to the book and the exercises again and again. Totally recommended! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book should come with diagnosis
This book is essential.I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in late 2003 and was given this book as a gift from a survivor I'd never met and still haven't to date. Because of her thoughtfulness, I was able to better understand, work with my treatment and get well again.I have given my copy away, that copy passed on by the person I gave it to again and I trust again since that time.Another friend of a friend was diagnosed in Florida (I'm in Michigan, my benefactor in California) and this was the first thing I did (after saying a prayer for her).Best Wishes for a speedy and full recovery to any/all who have need for this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simonton's "Getting Well"
Book is very informative and offers hope and help.It is far too old and needs to be updated to more current situations but many of the facts remain true and it is still probably the best cancer help book out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars An essential book for anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer
The theme of this book is that with positive expectancy of treatment and the patient's positive outlook, you CAN turn your cancer diagnosis into one of renewal of health. A patient CAN do this!Of the many books we have read, this one is outstanding.Dr. Simonton's book, Getting Well Again, is referenced in other volumes as well. The ideas are concrete, meaningful, and most of all---can be implemented. Positive expectancy is the key theme. We have read and reread its passages many times and have received renewed HOPE and OPTIMISM with every reading. ... Read more

To reap the holistic benefits of any mind-body exercise, students must relax and stay focused throughout their class. That's tough to do when the instructor seems to be--or actually is--speaking a foreign language, or when the physical movements seem equally foreign to the body. In Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MindBody Fitness for Dummies
This book wins the"fitness relevance" award for being virtually the first to apolitically and respectfully describe the major mindful exercise modalities that exist in the West today - in one concise volume. There are hundreds of yoga, tai chi, Pilates, martial arts and derivative publications today each extolling the papal and fitness-related virtues of their own species of mind-body exercise. Therese has put together a utilitarian compendium of the classical and contemporary forms, yes in somewhat abstract form, but always with skillful instruction and quite meaningful resources. This is a wonderfully organized reference for those desiring a wide-angle and descriptive view of the major players in mind-body exercise modalities. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars underwhelmed
I ordered what I thought was a full size intro to yoga book and got the pee wee version for elves. I had been breathlessly waiting for my full size edition to arrive in the mail because I was so excited to be starting yoga. As I held the pitifully small thing in my hand I got so depressed because it reminded me of some bad relationships i've had in the past--big promises and nothing to back it up with. I binged on a quart of dulce de leche ice cream and a dozen black bottom cupcakes to try to numb my pain. These evil satanic deceivers must be stopped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent TCM Source
This is an excellent book for TCM practitioners. It covers a wide variety of diagnostic techniques all included in one book (rather than having to buy 20 short books with similar info). From face diagnosis, to nail diagnosis, to in depth pattern recognition (for thin necks to swollen ears to stomach aches), Maciocia has included it all. I found the part about using palm lines to show tendencies towards certain types of diseases very interesting. There are colour plates in the back of the book that show examples of body type, tongues, and skin conditions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful tool for physical and emotional transformation
Anodea Judith's Chakra Balancing Kit continues to amaze me.I first bought her Eastern Body Western Mind about five years ago as I was beginning on the path of personal awareness and growth.I found that book to be extremely informative as I navigated the early stages of my own awakening conciousness. The information was somewhat overwhelming at times. If the Balancing Kit had been around when I first began this work I think I would have chosen to buy it first. The book Eastern Body seems to supplement the Balancing Kit well. The information in the kit is more accessible and the applications of the ideas much more practical.I would recommend this kit to anyone who is serious about exploring themselves more deeply.

I am relatively new to the field of Chakras - and I found that this "kit" was very helpful and informative.I learned a lot not only about myself, but why I act and react the way I do.I highly recomend this book - or kit - to anyone that needs to learn more about themselves.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Nothing new in this book and CD does not add to the value of this purchase. I purchased the book and CD combination in hopes of having experiential exercises. Exercises are provided, yet the author merely explains these on the CD versus guiding one through a meditation. It feels as if he is merely reading the directions for the exercises and the exercises are not new or imaginative. If one is new to self help books on healing trauma or anxiety, this may be the book for you. I've read and heard authors and psychologists talk about the flight and fight response over 20 years ago. I, personally, have found more healing/success in spiritual books, guided meditations or intense physical exercise where my heart rate increases or in strength training.

Sometimes in life we have to take a chance on ourselves and really try for change. If you want to change your body for the better, your mind, your habits, do the program and stick with the program you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I suprised myself with the gains that I have posted, and I am making more and more. Great information and great results but I was catalyst. The results I got was because, I got out of my head and did exactly what the program said to do.I am better for it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
The writer of this book clearly wanted to help men in need of sexual performance and treatment for weak erections. This book is meant to teach self control for the male, tell about the different symptoms of impotence and other sexual disorders and be a general informative guide. Unfortunately it is way to general for me, so when i needed something that had more depth i read "Volume II - Natural Penis Enlargement: New methods of avoiding and curing impotence, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction safely and inexpensively. ... Book on CD-Rom for PC & Mac Computers" by Platinum Millennium, a book that really satisfied me

Editorial Review

Women considering hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause symptoms and health benefits should read this controversial, provocative book first. "Advertising and research dollars are spent trying to convince women that estrogen will cure everything from heart disease to Alzheimer's," writes John R. Lee, M.D., "but there is scant evidence for any of these claims and reams of evidence that synthetic estrogens are highly toxic and carcinogenic." Lee has studied the research and concludes that estrogen is not the magic bullet for protection against heart disease and osteoporosis, nor does it retard aging. Natural progesterone, instead, puts postmenopausal women's hormones in balance, says Lee. He cites study after study that indicates that natural progesterone, obtained in cream form, delivers what the usual HRT only promises. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent work - you must read carefully
As a professional health specialist I have read extensively about natural progesterone cream and hormones since my diagnosis of breast cancer in 2001 and have been using it since that time instead of the drugs and radiotherapy recommended by my doctors.Dr Lee's work is remarkable but you must read carefully otherwise you will be under misapprehensions like some of these other reviewers who are still making mistakes about the difference between natural progesterone and synthetic progestins! They are molecularly different and natural progesterone does not carry the same side effects or risks that the synthetic ones do!I am the Hormone Health Expert for the CMA and Bio Vitality Limited where we also advocate hormone testing so that you do not supplement if you do not need it!It's really what the doctors should be doing before they give out hormones of any description.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good advice - but remember everyone is different
I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids seven years ago, and through browsing the internet I found out about Dr. Lee and this book. I took his advice, and I must have indeed been progesterone deficient because using the natural progesterone did clear up the fibroids and repair some other problems I was having. Dr. Lee also has other good pieces of advice that most physicians will not talk about in the realm of nutrition and environmental toxins. Especially eye-opening was his discussion of how non-organic meats and milk are full of estrogen due to modern farming methods. In retrospect, he apparently was also right about Premarin, as in the past three years medical trials showed this drug to be so harmful that the test was in fact halted due to its initial findings. Prior to that it was being passed out like candy by physicians to practically all menopausal women. However, I do have an aunt who has been on it for over twenty years, closely monitored, and her quality of life is probably higher because of it. This is because for her, specifically, the drug works without side effects. As for me, as I passed through menopause and continued to take progesterone, it began to cause problems for me. My blood pressure went up, I was constantly hyper, I had palpatations, and my blood sugar went up and down like a roller coaster. I took a saliva test for my hormones, and my progesterone was off the charts. The nutritionist I was working with said to stop the progesterone immediately. She also told me that although natural progesterone is a godsend to many women, there are some, like me, that are very sensitive to the cortisol related to progesterone and have the woes I described. Within three months of quitting the progesterone, everything returned to normal with the exception of my thyroid, which still requires supplementation to this day, three years later. I guess the moral to this story is that there is always something out there - whether it be a pharmaceutical or a natural product- that helps some people. Progesterone is one of those natural products, but please monitor yourself with regular hormonal saliva tests to insure that you personally are in balance. It's just too bad that proponents of natural cures and traditional physicians have to look at each other as enemies and not realize that both have something to add to the quality of life.

4-0 out of 5 stars Digestive issues? Read on...
I thought this book was really helpful for those who are stuggling with their weight or have digestive issues but are unclear why.
2-0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor
I read this book, and found it to pretty much be a rehash of ideas and theories that have been around the internet and "hypochondriac" community for a while (I say hypochondriac community because that's how most doctors treat us and we're left to go find our own solutions).
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy, useful reference
The book recaps material from other authors, such as Sherry Rogers, M.D. and other experts, in a handy and straight forward way. Having read numerous more complicated books while struggling with fatigue and brain fog, this one was a breath of fresh air (pun intended). It also has significant original material that I had not read elsewhere. All in all, an excellent read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE this Book!
This book has remarkable research and amazing spiritual confirmation for the channeled information that I received about water. Since incorporating the wisdom from this book and Dr. B's many other books of which I have many of them and have read them all, and also through the messages I received confirming these messages through Dr. B's books, I have lost two dress sizes, 2 shoe sizes all without even trying! I have also incorporated Dr. B's books, along with my own research, and spiritual messages into a new book I just published ~ Stepping Into Spiritual Oneness available at http://www.lulu.com/diamondlady and here on amazon within the next few weeks. As a fellow doctor, author of two books myself, I surely have enjoyed reading and learning from this book and highly recommend it!:) It is the fountain of youth that we all have been looking for; a fountain of youth that is free from being found within an age-defying cream or diet pills, but through what we are made of ~ Water!
