4-0 out of 5 stars Have the older version.
Used this in medical school. Excellent resource. In my time google and yahoo were not around, so this was the quick source. now that [...] is around, not as necessary, but still valuable. There is a pediatric version as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference through the years
I have been using various iterations of Fitzpatrick throughout my 12 years of practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. The organization, wealth of information, excellent photography (it really looks like what a provider sees in a person's skin!) all make it an invaluable reference. I am pleased to see the addition of more photography involving people of color, as upwards of 50% of the US population is now minority.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great reference
My preference overall in terms of derm texts is Habif, mostly due to organization, but this one comes in a close second.Lots of great pics and simple straightforward explanations (sometimes a little too simple). Also probably a great book for laypeople with some knowledge of medical terminology. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT NEW EDITION
Forget the hype about Bolognia, this is the best book on clinical dermatology out there today. Written by three of the top clinical dermatologists in the country, there is a unity of writing and approach and and a consistent high quality level that you don't get with texts with hundreds of co-authors (many of whom are in training themselves). There is also a refreshing aspect that this book is written for practicing dermatologists and avoids much of the incomprehensibility of so-called academic dermatology texts. Andrews is much improved over the last edition with color photos and the input from Dirk Elston, one of the most prolific dermatogists in the country. This is the one book EVERY dermatologist should have on his desk.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Resource!
The Pilates Reformer is a great resource for pilate teachers and students. The photos are beautiful and the descriptions of each exercise is very helpful.I would receommend this book to teachers and students who are experienced. This book is not for the novice.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Pilates Professionals!
Being in charge of the Pilates Programming for Healthtrax in Pittsburgh, I have found this book to be an incredible resource for myself and my Pilates staff. Clark- and Romani-Ruby have made this book very user friendly and have not left one important detail out.All exercises are broken down step by step and include important breathing and alignment cues, visualization cues, pre-requisite moves (both on the reformer and on the mat which too is useful!)and spring requirements. What I like about the book is how various modifications are given for each exercise so that you can customize your classes (or training sessions) and give individuals exercises (and modifications)that are specific to their physical abilities that will help them to attain their goals. This book will help Pilates professionals take their classes and training sessions to a higher level and give them a more personable approach to teaching/training.Having taught Pilates for over four years and fitness for nearly 10 years, I've attended quite a few workshops, certifications, industry conventions and have seen many DVDs/Videos featuring Pilates.None have contained the obviously well-researched information included in this book. The background in Physical Therapy and fitness that these two authors possess has been well put to use in this manual. This book did not disappoint! It is a must have for any PILATES PROFESSIONAL!I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to the reformer
Although videos are a great way to learn Pilates, serious students of the reformer will want to study each exercise in as great a depth as possible.Books abound on Pilates matwork techniques, but it is less easy to find instructional materials on the use of the reformer.Readers should not be put off by this book's subtitle, "A Manual for Instructors." The information found here is presented in a logical and straightforward style and would be helpful to any Pilates practitioner interested in exploring reformer techniques.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars No question that it works.
I found this book after googling a bunch of different things, and came across these reviews.Lots of good reviews, a few negative ones.Well, I noticed that all the negative ones were either people who hadn't actually tried it or people who didn't really stick with it.You can't rate a book negatively if you don't follow the program.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!!
I highly recommend this book, it works and it's the BEST.Even though I hadn't followed most of the recommendations like the enemas and baths it still worked for me just due to the diet change. What I would suggest also is to try to personalize it more, by finding out what works for you with diet.. mostly concerning laxatives, as for me most of them perscribed didnt' work (I guess my system is quite hard) so I explored around and found out that for me things like fresh papaya, dry figs, dates, eggs, and moloukhia (a green spinach like plant popular in the middle east) also other foods that are cleansing and remove toxins are good to increase, then decreasing the starches and adding more fruits, veggies and such foods into the diet really works.
1-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A HORRIBLE TRICK!
For years now, my best friend and ex-boyfriend of almost four years has been suffering from severe psorasis, as well as psoriatic arthritis. He had been through several doctors and has tried multiple kinds of treatments, ranging from with or without a combination of photolight therapy, sun and water therapy, topical treatments, and systemics (Methotrexate, Soriatane, etc).A few months ago, I discovered Dr. Pagano's book and shared this information with him. After having read the book, he decided to really dedicate himself to the diet and everything Dr. Pagano had stated in the book, such as the monthly visits to Dr. Pagano, the olive oil, the flaxseed oil pills, the peanut oil baths, the 50/50 combination of the peanut oil and olive oil, etc.For a few weeks only, it worked wonderfully. It seemed to be working for him, but after those few weeks, he broke out.Dr. Pagano had stated that he would have a break out before it would get better because the "toxins" were trying to leave the body, but after his psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis kept getting worse, Dr. Pagano finally told him that he would have to go back on phototherapy and systemics (Methotrexate). For a little over two months, because of this diet, he had the worst break out ever.He literally broke out all over his body, even on his face and neck!I truly believe that this diet would work for those that are only suffering from mild to moderate psoriasis, but for those suffering from severe psoriasis, I suggest that you beware! If you see yourself breaking out too much and for too long of a period, maybe you should try a different treatment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Derm Book!
This is a wonderful dermatology book! I just got it and can't put it down. Very comprehensive, clear, well-organized. Lots of pictures. Covers more material than Fitzpatrick, and much more clearly. As an internist, this book is perfect for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to reference, easy to help treat
I'm a Physician Assistant student working in a busy military hospital. This book is absolutely wonderful if you're looking for a quick diagnosis and treatment to common skin diseases. It's easy to reference, there are diagrams showing lesion distribution as well as beautiful pictures of common presentations, and an easy-to-reference treatment section. This won't cover everything, and you'll have to use a more comprehensive derm book for "zebras", but on the whole it's an excellent reference book in a general care environment. ... Most of my fellow pathology residents have been using Lever's book, mainlybecause that's what we have available.I decided to go out on a limb andtry this brand new book.I'm quite glad I did. This book is a pleasure touse. It is well written and beautifully illustrated. My only criticism isthat the index and table of contents could be more helpful.By the way, mycolleagues are also glad I purchased this book.I hardly get to see itanymore! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars healed my lyme
I have tried a great many things for lyme disease; I have been sick for over 6 years. This protocol was incredible. After only a few weeks most of my symptoms were gone. After six months all my symptoms were gone. Stephen Buhner's knowledge of the herbs is incredible and this protocol is the most thought out that I have seen. It has given me my life back. While it may not work for everyone the vast majority of people on the lyme internet groups report incredible success with it. Thank you Stephen Buhner.

2-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful
I have had Lyme disease for some time now, and am always interested in treatments that could help keep it at bay.I tried andrographis, the first of the core protocol herbs that this book suggests, and after three weeks of following the recommended dosage I broke out in hives all over my body.I have never had an allergic response to anything in my life, so I was quite surprised.Even after taking benadryl, my face and hands were severely swollen the following day.I saw three physicians to determine the nature of the allergic reaction, ended up on prednisone for 9 days, and I have since returned the remaining androgaphis bottles I had purchased. The author did indicate that very rarely people have an allergic reaction, and I suppose I was one of the unfortunates.I am sure the herb works wonders for some, but please be careful.I would not have expected to fall into a very rarely category.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good on lyme, disappointing on treatments
The first few chapters on lyme contain more information than any other source I've heard of and are impressive. That information alone makes the book worth buying, and a true "find".I've been researching lyme for a year now, and he had information I'd never heard of before, like the way lyme infests the renal system and infects the urine so it can infect grazing animals.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, it is hard to accept but it has relieved my asthma greatly..
After a lifetime of being told that salt is bad for me, I finally let go and started to use celtic sea salt liberally (as prescribed in the book). At first I only drank the water, but adding the salt completely maximized my progress. At 4 separate times this past weekend, I stopped my own asthma attacks at each onset. It took me about 7-10 minutes each time. It took alot for me not to use my inhaler, and to just give the water & salt a chance to work.I am extremely grateful and rather emotional about it, since I thought I would be on my proventil inhaler for the rest of my life. The inhaler has caused a number of side effects, and I am now planning a detox to remove the residue of this drug from my body, which I've been dependent on for more than 27 years. And I've only been doing this seriously for 2 weeks, (and getting better with each day). I thank "Dr.B" for giving me my health back (along with hundreds of others whose testimonials I've read on the www.watercure2.com site). These are the same testimonials I was so compelled to read again and again, because I just could not believe and accept that something so simple could cure this disease that left me so weak and scared about the future of my health. Not to mention, very likely preventing other diseases I would be on the road towards. I suppose this is my own testimonial, because it really happened, and I hope that readers searching for an answer will forget their fears (that it won't work) and try it. Yes, it is still hard even for me to believe...even though it continues to work for me. But I do know for sure that I will never stop Dr.B's water & salt prescription. I will say this - if you want your health back, just take it back by taking action.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Poor
No real info other than what I already knew. There was a small two sentence reference to the info I was seeking.A real rip-off!I'm going to return the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good advice, but add magnesium for even better results
There is significant evidence that the root cause of many, if not most, cases of asthma (and many allergies as well) is deficiency of magnesium. This fact is discussed in detail by Dr. Carolyn Dean in her excellent book The Miracle of Magnesium. Dr. Dean recommends 600 mg of supplemental magnesium daily. People with asthma who follow Dr. Dean's advice about daily magnesium supplementation often improve dramatically even if they have continued to struggle with asthma under other treatments which omit magnesium supplementation. If you are suffering from asthma please read Dr. Dean's excellent book and follow her advice regarding daily magnesium supplementation. It may well be the most important thing you will ever due to relieve this terrible ailment. By the way, although a variety of magnesium supplements are available, and beneficial, chelated magnesium -- which is readily available in most health food stores -- is the most effective. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good book and good products
I saw her on the PBS special, read the reviews of this book on Amazon.com, and bought the most expensive PBS package which included this book, some of her products, and DVD. I felt her book did have useful information in it, although I was personally disapointed that she did not recommend a specific solution for the dark undereye circles I suffer from. What was most interesting in her book was that she explains how the cosmetic companies work, and how it is that even though they are including the latest ingredients in their products, their products still wind up ineffective due to being present in amounts to low to do anything. Also of interest is that she does recommend products of *other* companies; not just her own products. She sincerely seems like she wants to help everyone stop the aging of their skin.Personally, I have suffered from female late onset adult cystic acne, for which I took Accutane about 7 years ago. The Accutane effect has somewhat worn off and I do have cystic acne from time to time. I can honestly say that I think her products have made my skin feel the best of any cleanser that I have used to date. My skin has felt more consistently soft. It has not solved my acne problem, but I suspect that it has helped. I have also had a couple microdermobrasions and a micropeel this year, and I do believe that this has helped with some fine lines and helped to diminish the lingering red marks from acne.

5-0 out of 5 stars So Excited to Find Dr. Denese
I just saw Dr. Denese on PBS and ran here to buy her book.EVERYTHING she said correlated directly with what I represent being an Arbonne representative.I was so excited to see corroboration with yet another skin care expert (Dr. Perricone being the first) that everything Arbonne uses in their anti-aging line truly are the best ingredients available, even down to the peptides in the RE9 line and the CoQ10 in the supplement lines. And ESPECIALLY the advice of avoiding petreleum based products. You don't see that too often elsewhere, and it's is vital information - you have to check labels to make sure there aren't petroleum products in your skin care (unless you use Arbonne of course, because we never use petroleum products).Mineral oil (aka baby oil) is the main petroleum product used in 90% of skin care, yet it actually can contribute to the aging of the skin.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book, Fabulous Skin Care Line
I bought this book after watching the PBS special and buying her defense day cream (SPF 30) and her amazing exfoliating facial pads. Both products are wonderful. As I finish up the current line of cosmetics I am using, I am moving into her skin care line.

5-0 out of 5 stars No other book is as good
I think the biggest complaint or criticism of Dr. Perricone's recommendations is the excessive cost of supplements and creams. With regard to the supplements, Dr. Perricone gives recommendations on the vitamins and supplements you should take. I spent some time looking at all the ingredients listed and realized that you can get those same supplements, vitamins, and minerals at your local health food / vitamin store GNC carries a lot of them get DMAE here and so does Trader Joe's you can get the Complete EFA essential fatty acids, Alpha Lipoic Acid, but does not have DMAE, and Costco good price for CoEnzyme Q10! The prices are much more reasonable. In fact, on the nvperricone website, the vitamin packets list all the ingredients and the amount of product included in the packets. In his book, he makes dosage recommendations too. I hope this helps.
5-0 out of 5 stars You'll love this book
I became interested in Dr. Perricone theory once I saw him on PBS over a year ago. He was convincing enough to make me, old sceptic, get his book and follow his advice... I recommend The Perricone Promise to anyone who wants to lead a healthier lifestyle and have younger looking skin. It is actually a continuation of the idea presented in his previous book Perricone Prescription.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Self Help Book
Great Self Helf Book which gives you wonderful insights into the emotional factors of your condition. Let's suppose skin conditions are partially genetical, partially caused by wrong food intake, partially caused by external conditions (wheather, dust mites, etc...) and partially caused by emotional/stress factors (some say ALL skin conditions are caused by inner anger). I suggest you take an integral approach to treat your condition and optimize your food intake and do whatever you can about external conditions. This will take the balance of your condition into the right direction. The next step is to explore the emotional/stress factors of your skin condition. That is what this book is great for!
5-0 out of 5 stars Get this and get better!
Whenever my eczema flared up, my friends would tell me I'm too stressed out.I didn't feel that way, not much more stressed out than usual, so the timing of the flare ups and the stress level at that time was sometimes confusing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly recommended!
For 10 years I have been struggling with eczema.Creams and treatments only did so much, and it never went away for long.I found that stress provoked my eczema and thought that there were underlying psychological reasons, but didn't know where to get help.Desperate I turned to the web and found this excellent book that details the reasons behind skin conditions, how to relieve the condition and to explore and deal with the underlying problem. The exercises to relieve itching work and the accounts of other people's conditions are enlightening. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S A MIRACLE IN MY LIFE!!!!!
The plan and systemic treatment that Dr. Perricone has developed works!I wish there was a way I could give testimonials in his behalf on finally proving that acne is systemic. After having a child at 27 years old, my skin totally changed and I became very acne prone.I would suffer from mild to moderate acne at all times. It was very rare that I did not have some form of breakout on my face, neck, back and/or chest. I went to numerous dermatologists and received great treatments. However, nothing worked.I took the antibiotic - Tetracyclin off and on for over 9 years. Since finding this book, I have been eating the foods and taking the supplements that are listed in the book based on my type of acne.I look completely different.I even choose to go without any foundation on my face. His information is great. For the first time in 9 years, I have not taken any antibiotics.IT IS FABULOUS and my skin is radiant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hives: The Road to Diagnosis and Treatment of Urticaria
Urticaria hives have plagued me for nearly 3 years. Many visits to a Dermatologist and an Allergist plus numerous blood work-ups have not been of any help. Dr. Wanderer's book "Hives: The Road to Diagnosis and Treatment of Urticaria" has been very beneficial in my understanding of Urticaria and has shown me what steps to take in an attempt to pinpoint the cause.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has Urticaria. It may not help you find the cause but it will help you understand what you are faced with.It is my belief that this book should be recommended by all Doctors to people with Urticaria.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully validating and great reference material!
I have been a chronic urticaria sufferer for 5 1/2 years and have been on Prednisone for the last 4 1/2 years. My doctor ordered the book after my recommendation and we are using it together to try new medications and therapies.Thank you Dr. Wanderer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful for a CU sufferer like myself

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute necessity for all dermatology residents
an indispensable guide.extremely high yield for dermatology boards review.i would suggest getting together with your fellow residents, splitting the work of outlining a chapter each week, and then having the handouts to study from while you are in chicago.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Dr. Wolverton has created what will long be a classic of dermatologic texts. This book begins with basic pharmacologic principles and covers all of the major classes of drugs that are used to treat skin diseases including rarely used compounds such as clofazimine. Each drug is discussed from chemical structure to pharmacokinetics to mechanism of action, etc., with handy little tables that nicely supplement the text. The clinical use sections discuss findings of key medical articles and a section on off-label uses discusses case reports of the drugs' use in rarer conditions. Dosages and weight-based dosing tables are included.5-0 out of 5 stars Definitive Drug Therapy
The much thinner first edition of this book has been the definitive source for dermatology therapy for ten years. Now, a revised, more comprehensive version details all aspects of drug therapy for dermatologists, and other physicians treating cutaneous disorders. From topical agents to systemic therapies commonly used to treat skin disease to cosmetic agents, this book is all inclusive. A standardized format presents the different drugs in a consistent fashion and tables emphasize important drug interactions and present monitoring guidelines for commonly and uncommonly used medications.Read more
