I love this book!5-0 out of 5 stars I found a great gift for Mother's day!!
I was looking for something for my beautiful wife's 50th BDay. She was very nervous about this particular passage for reasons that I thought were silly. She's looks great for any age and this book showed her that 50 isjust a number that doesn't mean the end of anything - just the start ofeverything!!

4-0 out of 5 stars This Book Hits Home
Bought this book for my mother. She read half but put it away because it really hit home and she felt the auther was talking about her.she doesn't want to face the reality of her life or the reality of what the book is saying so she will not finish reading it.I find the book interesting in knowing that all older people go through this and it helps to see the humor and the understanding of aging.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful! Humorous! Touching!
Who would have thought having those forgetful, sometimes embarrassing, senior moments could be so much fun--at least when they happen to someone else. I thoroughly enjoyed Karen O'Connor's depiction of the delightful roller coaster ride we take in the process ofbecoming "blessed with many years." Her humorous and sometimes touching stories provide models of how we can greet our advancing years with a philosophical attitude and a wry smile. Her comments and prayers at the end of each story help us put it all into perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful!
Karen O'Connor's new book is a gem.I found myself laughing out loud, nodding and then relaying her quips and common sense with friends and family.I've always enjoyed Ms. O'Connor's other books, but this is the best yet. It's also a book to share. Buy one for yourself and give 'em as presents "just because."That's what I'm going to do. ... Read more

The authors blended together (in eloquent prose) concepts, strategies and techniques to sharpen the mind. This book is not merely one to read, but a book to study and review periodically. It contains valuable information that one needs, and should know about the human brain. The authors did their research and it shows. They combined substance, style, and wit in presenting their information in a manner that makes the material "unforgettable".If you are looking for a gift that just about anyone can benefit from, this is it!It was a terrific gift I gave myself!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hidden Sexuality Phases of Men
The bravado of patriarchy and its reliance upon presenting males as strong, vibrant creatures able to take on the world when young, and equally powerful when old has always been a myth perpetuated as the alpha male syndrome.
4-0 out of 5 stars For the layperson
This book is really for the layperson. The book "Andropause Mystery" does describe evolving physical, sexual, psychological and mental challenges encountered by the aging male. It does explain hormone replacement for men and the potential problems. There is a nice chapter on the psychological impact of aging on sexuality. It is easy to read and understand, but I prefer "Aging Men's Health: A Case Based Approach" by the same author. No doubt, it is a textbook, but there is more depth and detail for the professional person.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stop aging or slow the process
Some useful information, but nothing you can't get for free on the internet. Book is only 45 pages long and doesn't justify price. I've read a lot of articles by this author, and usually respect his writings and opinions, but am very disappointed in this case.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting short read and lots of good info
I have been using oxygen peroxide for quite a few years, not IV therapy or internally, but for ear infections, chronic sinuses, bathing ocassionally, gargling etc. and I can tell you that it does work.As a sufferer of chronic ear and sinus infections 10 yrs. plus after using the peroxide for these they have subsided. NO more antibiotics and no more chronic sinus issues! Maybe I will write a book telling you how effective it actually worked for me. HA! Not really, but I can't say enough about it's effectiveness.

5-0 out of 5 stars It works
This is an incredible book.I purchased it in June of 2006 and as of July 2006 I have already lost weight without any pain and frustration. It is easy to follow the advice and the facts are backed up by the research that was done.I am happy to say I have lost almost 12 lbs and the pounds are continuing to come off.
4-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring
I have just finished reading Ruth Heidrich's latest publication. Found it an inspiring read for a vegetarian whoaspires to veganism "most of the time".Ms Heidrich has obviously written this book to encourage readers to take that first step in thinking about their nutrition differently.May I say though that Ms Heidrich's dedication to veganism and competative running could present as daunting to the average punter who is looking for direction around lifestyle changes. This is acknowledged by Ms H. who does encourage her readers to start off slowly and work towards goals.I am planning to order Ms H's. cookbook and work towards refining my diet using ideas already discussed in this publication.MmmmmYum Yum...Kale & Celery for Breakfast..???Reframe that (a technique Ms H. discuses in her book)... So muchbetter than Beta Blockers & Anti inflammatories for brekky.More Please.
5-0 out of 5 stars Jump start your journey to health and fitness
By most reasonable standards Senior Fitness is an exceptional book on health and fitness. Its basic message is simple and intellectually sound. The recommendations are based on both solid science (multiple studies with convergent findings) and the results of the author's own heroic battle against cancer. On a personal level I found the book quite inspiring, providing just the impetus I needed to adjust my personal diet and exercise regimen.Dr. Heidrich doesn't equivocate or offer us simplistic solutions that require no work on our part, but the reward of good health and a vigorous old age should more than justify our efforts. The message is clear, the science is sound and if you're looking for a good book to jump start your own personal fitness program this is a great place to start. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ten books in one
This is a deep yet amazingly easy book to understand if you are attracted to read the book. It is not for the beginner. Every sentence could be a chapter. Every chapter could be a book. So much depth of wisdom is packed into every paragraph. 5-0 out of 5 stars "Oneness" is truly a gift to savor ... for a lifetime.
"Oneness" is one of the most astounding books we've ever read.It presents a rich and multi-dimensional perspective of our journey through this world that encourages us to live life fully and embrace our lessons. This book pulls no punches regarding the adventures that one encounters on this journey from the prison house of reactive ignorance to the palace of eternal light. "Oneness" also reveals the nature and impact of the accelerating energetic environment on our physical, emotional and subtle bodies. It provides the insight necessary to traverse these times when many of our habits and cultural structures tend to keep us in patterns that are unfavorable to the ascension process.
5-0 out of 5 stars Speaking to the Divine Nature of All Things
This book is a must for those who have a deep sense of knowing and seek affirmation of such.Every word, sentence, paragraph has meaning that speaks to the reader the way life does... when one is ready to hear it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A prescription for a better medical care system as well as for us
Denial of Aging is both a call to arms and a personal guide. It connects two themes: 1) most of us will become infirm eventually; 2) when that happens, our medical care system will fail us, often worsening quality of life instead of improving it.Two kinds of failures are Medicare rules that favor institutional care over care at home, and a fixation on (expensive) high tech treatments that have a low chance of success in the infirm elderly, but that carry a high rate of complications.Dr. Gillick shows that we can avoid some of these problems through individual choices, but that others require concerted political action -- for instance, making Medicare more responsive to the needs of the infirm elderly.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on aging...Must read for boomers, MDs,RNs, and anyone growing old...
Whether you are a boomer about to face aging or a clinician advising patients, you will age more gracefully by reading this extremely readable and well-written book by one of this country's foremost geriatricians. As in her other books, Muriel Gillick makes the stories come alive in technicolor, which is no easy task when nursing home and senility are the subject matter. And that's exactly the point: Dr. Gillick breaks the aging stereotypes that most of us conjure when thinking about aging. Whether it's preventive medicine, health policy, or just what stance one should have towards growing old, you will walk away with a more informed and humane understanding of what aging means and how we can all live our life's final few chapters gracefully. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars a powerful book
I agree with the previous reviewer that this book is a celebration of aging, but I'd also call attention to how incisive it is about aging as suffering in our society: and how convincing I found it on replacing despair with quiet exultation. Henri Nouwen always moves me with the deep simplicity of his writing. And the beautiful photographs intervene effectively in the text.

This text is slow reading and the topics are not well linked together, however the repetitive nature of the writing style allows the concepts to be revisited and helps reinforce each topic. A strong class room instructor can manage the material, helping the student link the topics together. There is a wealth of information in this text for an undergraduate couse inaging.

3-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat dry and the ideas aren't linked very well....
I took a class which required this text for reading thoughout the term. I found it to be hard to follow and a little on the dry side. Several topics could of been linked together, and several statistics in the book wherequoted twice with varying values. I also found over ten typos withoutlooking. ... Read more

A book everyone would benefit from reading. It's a MUST read. 3-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile in Spite of the Hype
I've done various exercise systems over the years and I'd say this one is far beyond all others in terms of giving a workout to the fingers and wrists, major sources of stress in the computer age. It is also a very methodical system, going step by step; for example, one exercise involves the legs, the next adds arm movements, and then another integrates breathing and visualization.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I will reccomend this book to anyone! This is one of the best books!
