The book was primarily a reprint of short quotes grouped together by subject. There was no summary information or analysis. I stopped reading half way through. Very boring!

Life Coaching Starter Kit
If you are thinking about becoming a life coach this is the book for you. Not only is it inspirational it also has practical information about how to set up a life coaching practice. It is in three distinct parts the first dealing clearly and effectively with life coaching basics, how to start a practice and make a success. The second part comprises of very clear and simple to follow usage of NLP within life coaching. There are several case studies and examples which make the process not only interesting to read but also easy to put into practise. The final part uses an adaptation from the Spiral Dynamics double helix model to clearly define its uses in life coaching. Not an easy task but one which the author has achieved excellently. I highly recommend this book not only for life coaches but also for anyone involved in the coaching world. A must have book. I hope you enjoy and benefit from reading this book as much as I have. Extremely dissappointing book
Drawn into the misadventure of buying this book by the glowing reviews of other readers (who put them up to it?), I felt cheated after reading it. The title of the book and its claims give you the idea that this is the only coaching book you could need.Far from it!The treatment of the topic lacks depth and is superficial, a bunch of NLP concepts are thrown into the book as chapters and you wonder what you're supposed to do with these.The summaries at the end of each chapter seem to be randomly selected sentences from the chapter body (Almost like filler and very transparent...it really insults the intelligence)I sensed a lack of authenticity throughout this book.But most disturbing to me is the author's underlying attitude towards the client you begin to feel as you read the book. It's an attitude that lacks an honest measure of respect and appreciation for the client and is geared less to "dancing" with the client--inquiring into his or her values, dreams, issues, and subsequently working in cooperation with the client towards growth--and more towards manipulating the client with a bag of verbal tricks and other ploys. In short, this book lacks respect for the client or for the reader's intelligence.Far better is Julie Starr's book, a gem, which has obvious depth and sicnerity in its treatment of the subject of coaching, displays a true appreciation for the client sitting in front of you, and give the reader a lot of valuable and useful techniques that will serve the prospective coach.

Taking Care of Parents
Many of us are faced with the aging of parents and often the onset of dementia. Eleanor Cade's book gives us examples of that common stuggle and what other people have done to cope with this difficult transition in our parent's life. After I'd read this book, I gave copies to my sister who is a primary caregiver of our mother, my cousin and another friend. All of these women found hope and encouragement in the stories of others. Irecommend it.

Taking Care of Parents Who Didn't Take Care of You
Eleanor Cade's book has been an enormous help as I wade through elder care for my mother. It provides practical advice, straightforward talk, and especially emotional companionship. It's a really difficult situation, and we need this kind of support. My mother even read it and said it helped HER! That's amazing.

A Most Kind and Insightful Gesture of Help
"Let Evening Come", was loaned to me by an 83 year old friend. I am 52.The truths in this book are insightful and comforting. Mary Morrison is an honest, compassionate and generous writer. I read the book once and then returned it to my friend. I am ordering my own copy. "Let Evening Come" is a gift for any age; it is about life and living in grace. The reader learns a great deal from this book and is reminded of the place in the heart where age, if we are lucky, awaits us all.

A Valuable Overview
I recently started working as an LPN in long term care and I have found this to be most valuable in providing me with a basis for understanding the many types of dementia and mental illness with which my residents are struggling.I highly recommend this work to anyone working or living with an elderly person.
Helpful but missing a key issue
I found this book to be helpful overall, however, it was missing any discussion of what I have found to be a key mental health issue with elders and that is hoarding. There was a not a single mention of hoarding and from my experience in the field, hoarding is a serious problem with the elder population.

How to Find Work That Works...
This valuable resource provides direct service approaches for job development and placement supports.It will be useful for staff training and self-empowerment for those with high functioning autism.

Does it work?
The author of this book is a vocational consultant and the founder of an employment agency for people with Asperger syndrome, so it does contain lots of practical advice and useful information. It is intended, not for people on the spectrum themselves, but for those who are helping people on the spectrum to find work, such as other employment advisers, teachers, parents, friends etc. However, it does contain things which you still might find useful iftrying to find work for yourself, even though you might find it just a little patronising. This book is not about finding a career, it is about simply getting a job. It's strategy for getting people with Asperger syndrome into work is helping them to be what employers want, and it explains what that is clearly and well.

Wise, Useful, and Entertaining
While this is not a mega-sized collection of quotes (just one quote per page) it IS an amazing selection of time-tested wisdom, humor, and experience.I collect quotations; and this book was an outstanding resource from that standpoint, since the preponderant majority of the quotes were "keepers."I have collected 20,000+ in a personal database over more than a decade (an odd hobby, some would say, but I guess I'm pretty easily amused).While a few of the quotes familiar to me, most were fresh and original, and the preponderant majority were "keepers."But you don't have to be a quotation collector to enjoy this book; if you're looking for inspiration, "words to live by," (from folks who have "been there,done that"), or if you just enjoy reading books that give you something to think about and more than a few chuckles along the way, I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Incredible habit-changing story.
Being creatures of habit, human beings often have downfalls and pieces of themselves that inhibit them that they would like to change. This short book really helps with a wonderful analogy to show in plain terms what it is we do when we are forced into a habit. This has helped a few people Iknow, and it has helped me tremendously to help me turn around and practicemy Christian faith, not just preach it. Funtastic and Clean Humor
Barbara Johnson is a joy! Her sense of humor and writing style make this an exjoyable book. Unlike most humor writers, her style is clean and wholesome...no vulgarities.Recommended to every woman who is approaching or is in middle age or older, and is looking at peri-menopause and beyond with dread instead of anticipation.This book is uplifting.!There is some humor that is a bit "corny", but it's a laughable kind of corny.Definitely "thumbs up" for this work!

For Older Readers
I'm 49, post-menopausal, and I love the Golden Girls, Erma Bombeck, and The View, but that type of sharp humor is not in this book. This author's humor is mild and corny, with LOTS of capitalized words. You know, for EMPHASIS! That said, it's pleasant to read. Companionable, but not terribly compelling. A nice book for the nightstand, to pick up now and then.

They Are Called 'The Golden Years' For Sure.
This book is "For Women Only" as the seal on the front cover shows.She is somewhere between Erma Bombeck and Fanny Flagg with her type of humor and sayings.This volume was written for those with a sense of humor but, if you've heard all that homespun advice, it's not so funny anymore.
