5-0 out of 5 stars Superbly Informative
I bought this book two years ago when my eyesight was failing. It described in detail using both text and pictures the cataract surgery I was to undergo, thus allowing me to be an informed patient. I recommend this book highly for anyone interested in educating themselves about eye health and treatment.
3-0 out of 5 stars Very Technical
This is a very encyclopedia-type of book. It has a lot of information about different eye problems and is a great book describing the functions of the different parts of the eye and what goes on at visits to the eye doctor. But it doesn't give alot of information on saving your sight, taking care of your eyes, remedies for problems or anything like that. The book claims to be "The Owner's Manual for your Eyes" but I don't think this to be very accurate. Its from 1998, but doesn't even include alot about laser surgery.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book

5-0 out of 5 stars Natural methods of improvement of eye sight are the best
This book is amazing. I recently took part in a course, based on Dr. Bates' methods. In fact, my entire family i.e. wife and daughter attended. My number was -2.25 (each eye), while my wife had recently been prescribed reading glasses, and my young daughter (10 years old) had also been recommended glasses of -1 diopters.5-0 out of 5 stars genuine understanding
This book, originally published in 1949, conveys Corbett's excellent understanding of the Bates Method. She was one of the people whom Dr. Bates trained extensively to teach the method to others. This is now one of the top books I recommend to other people interested in improving their vision, not because Corbett delves deep into any complexities, but because she presents the Bates Method in a very straightforward, truthful way, without making any of the mistakes that even well-meaning Bates followers often make. This book is a great starting point. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars outstanding graduate level introduction
This is the best book on bipolarism that my (bipolar I) wife and i have ever read.It combines readability with many references to academic/medical studies and snippets from interviews of bipolars. The book is informative and detailed as well as compassionate. The anecdotal pieces are not vague musings about being bipolar, but rather personal experience to complement the scientific data of any given topice. The book does not forever dwell on what bipolarism is, but instead quickly details the disease then moves on to how to continue living with the highest possible quality of life when you have the disease.Like any good graduate text, it starts with the most basic information and quickly helps the reader up the learning curve of the topic to discuss the most advanced and recent research on how to deal with the illness. This book is outstanding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for taking control of mood swings!
I bought this expecting some kind of basic book on bipolar but it is so much more. The mood charts & advice on medicines and natural health are something I should have had years ago. Left me asking why I had to buy a book to find out these things, and thinking about buying another copy for my doctor.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is mislabled
Except for 2 Chapters in the book the bulk talks about areas other than Bipolar illness. This would be good as a dictionary if you wanted a paragraph or two only on something related to different topics that cover mental illnes. It does introduce the novice to wide variety of possible treatments and physical illness that might cause a misdiagnoses of Bipolar illness. Its a good starting point for futher reading. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars fairly simple, insightful
Occasionally, someone who has experience improving their eyesight with the Bates Method writes a book to help clarify things for others. The Bates Method is comprised of many subtleties that just about everyone misses at first (and some people never get it). Many people who claim to understand it don't, so it's always refreshing to read a book by someone who knows what he's talking about, and this book is no exception. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Philosophic and spiritual look to the eyesight
Conscious seeing is a very touching, deep and poetic philosophy of seeing. This system of thought treats the eye as an ideal model which helps us to understand the speciality of human perception. To make the reader understand this reasoning, the author operates with many metaphors and vivid stories which are literary works of imagination.

5-0 out of 5 stars The personal stories of the author Susan Krieger's slow loss of sight
These are personal stories of the author Susan Krieger's slow loss of sight and provides ten brief reflections and one novella-length drama which follows Susan's birdwatching in a New Mexico desert, learning to use a white cane, and final enjoyment of life's visions before losing her sight. Outer landscapes may change, but inner vision persists - and Susan Krieger faces disability and a changed life with renewed vision. Things No Longer There is very highly recommended reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Power Vision System...this book deserves the name!
I've read this book and I recommend it to anyone willing to improve his/her nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism. Some months ago, when I started doing the exercises described in this book my prescription was -2.25/-2.5. Well, after constantly practicing my vision has improved and now my nearsightedness is -0.75/-1.0...amazing! The same exercises and principles can also be applied for prevention purposes and the author can be contacted for further questions. Highly recommended!
4-0 out of 5 stars Different then the others :o)
It's true, that the book is a pretty hard read, and that it shows that Davids native language isn't English just as it isn't for myself. Actually I needed to go through it 2-3 times, underlining the essentials before I was able to put everything together - how to practice and USE the exercises and what the exercises included. But still the book is different then the others..and I have read pretty many.
5-0 out of 5 stars A no nonsense book
A no nonsense book about restoring one's vision. Mr. De Angelis has put together his own experience, with all the elements necessary for others to accomplish the same. He does not hide the fact that only those committed, with discipline and perseverance will succeed. The book's bibliography has many good references for those interested in exploring the subject in depth. I commend Mr. De Angelis for making the effort in documenting his experience, and making it available in English, in addition to his native Italian ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Informative for Anyone Considering Lasik
This book is packed with answers.I feel like a mini-expert on Lasik now.I found the author's website for anyone interested:5-0 out of 5 stars The Eye Laser Miracle : The Complete Guide to Better
This book is extremely informative! It pretty much answered every question I had regarding LASIK, in a very objective and easy-to-understand manner. In fact, I was so impressed by Dr. Caster that I scheduled an initial (and free) consultation, to see if I was a candidate.Turns out I was, and after a more thorough pre-op exam, including an unanticipated trip to a retinal specialist (they saw something they wanted checked out and preferred a specialist's seal of approval), I went through with the LASIK procedure.I can't praise this book enough, for giving me helpful information that made me a better, more informed patient.I felt very much in control -- well, as much as I could be, under the circumstances; and that, I think, should be any patient's ultimate objective, regardless of the medical procedure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent description of a miraculous new medical procedure!
Dr. Caster describes in detail the LASIK procedure, a miraculous new laser eye surgery that can cure nearsightedness and astigmatism. After I read the book, I had Dr. Caster operate on my eyes, and I have now thrown away myglasses. This is 21st-century medicine delivered in the 20th century! ... Read more
