5-0 out of 5 stars question
I haven't used this book yet. I wanna know how many exercises does this book have? I'm looking for a book that has some good eye exercises, not just information about eyes, or basic stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thorough and Clear
The information is presented in a very clear, well-organized, and succinct way.The instructions for the exercises are very clear and thorough.I especially like the "What to Watch For" and "Notes" sections for each exercise.I feel like it's hard not to do these exercises correctly with all the notes and observations the author adds. The testimonials at the beginning and the introductory chapters really gave me hope and enthusiasm in this program.I just started the program, but I feel this book will have been valuable even if I do not see improvement in the "First Stage" of the program.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than the other books!
If you are looking around Amazon at all the different vision improvement books, this is the one that is worth investing in. It is clear, succinct, and offers a step by step program that is thoroughly outlines and easy to follow. A lot of the other books on the subject offer a lot of information, but fail to give the reader a program to follow. Martin Sussman's book also explains why and how vision works and why it will improve with this program. I just got the book, but already his techniques have completely changed my (previously negative)attitude toward my vision. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect sight---your birthright!
'Relearning to See' is the largest and most comprehensive book ever written on the Bates Method of Natural Eyesight Improvement Re-Education. The author has taught Natural Eyesight Improvement and Teacher Training classes since 1983. He has recently relocated from San Francisco to the Natural Vision Center in Ashland, Oregon. RTS contains the pioneering work of ophthalmologist William H. Bates, MD. This educational program is *not* about eye exercises---a common misconception of the Bates Method. The most important contribution of RTS is that it concisely describes the 3 principles and 3 habits of natural vision. Yet each principle and habit is thoroughly explained, since all of them are necessary for normal, clear sight. RTS is a 521-page tome containing 60 color plates, over 150 illustrations and eye charts, (not a small booklet like most other books written on this topic), and contains information on how to improve nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, strabismus (e.g. crossed-eye), amblyopia (lazy-eye), and many other vision problems. Even many serious eye problems have improved with this educational program. RTS covers reading, driving, using a computer, in nighttime vision, flying, light tolerance, artificial lighting and many other topics. Glasses are an artificial crutch, and contact lenses are foreign objects. Both tend to reinforce strained vision habits and make your eyesight worse. RTS educates you about lenses and prescriptions so you can go to your eye doctor and get legal, safe, reduced-power glasses while you are improving your eyesight. One of the most interesting and valuable chapters is called 'Brains and Vision,' where the author presents a larger perspective on the Bates Method using the modern right brain/left brain model. Bates stated that vision is primarily mental. The sections on left-brain myopes versus right-brain farsights are quite revealing. There are many mental and vision quality benefits to improving eyesight naturally, including memory, concentration, imagination, creativity, color perception, depth perception, contrast and texture awareness. While Dr. Bates did make some errors, his *solutions* of re-establishing correct vision habits are flawless---because they are created by nature. Read Chapter 1, Chapters 2-4 if you have been wearing glasses or contacts; then jump to Chapters 9+ and get started with natural vision principles and habits.
5-0 out of 5 stars Relearning to See:Improve Your Eyesight - Naturally!
Fantastic book! I have been wearing glasses since 1970, but since reading this book and practicing the principles explained within it, I doubt I will have to continue wearing glasses much longer. After only one month, I have noticed a definite improvement in my eyesight -- glasses which were once too weak for me are now almost too strong!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing non-allopathic approach to healing vision
I tried this for 9 days while on vacation and I was amazed by the results. All of the bad vision habits that Dr. William H. Bates discovered I had. After a few days practice, I was having "flashes" of perfect vision discussed in the book. I was seeing details like leaves on trees rather than a big amorphous blob of green.

I have used this book in addition to Relearning to See and Better Eyesight. I am excited by the results I am seeing (naturally). I haven't worn my glasses since November.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why are you still wearing glasses?
I wore glasses for over 8 years.I read this book and then threw them away.I don't have time to preach to you about this. I have exciting things to do now.If you want to be more free, read this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars It really does ease eye strain.....
I was always able to see the "floater" images within the pictures. The books calls this "divergence". When I do it, totally relax my eyes, I see the image within seconds. The problem for me was when I read in this particular MagicEye that I need to practice convergence. In other words, bringing the eyes together, and seeing the opposite of the 3D image. It's like a sunken image. At first, I had pain from doing this. It caused me eye strain, which was similar to eye strain I always feel after reading or sitting in front of the PC for a period of time. Now, after practicing the techniques to increase convergence (i.e. the pencil moving in and out for 10 seconds), I see the image, and more important, no more eye strain! It does work, or at least it worked for me..........

3-0 out of 5 stars good pictures, bad text
The pictures in this book are good, but beware! About every other page is a full page of text, of self-gloating from the authors! I am sure that their arms are tired from patting themselves on the back; and there are a bunch of stupid quotes from supposed customers of how their pictures cure cancer and the like... I would say that half of the book is a waste of paper because of this. I do not think I would buy this book again, false advertising.

4-0 out of 5 stars I found it!
I had this book, loaned it out, lost track of it, and recently had it returned to me, out of nowhere!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
Perhaps more importantly than anything else about the kit, this vision improvement kit has taught me that my eyesight is NOT a static thing, I am NOT damned to poor sight; my eyesight changes every minute - and with the help of Schneider's activities and thorough guidebook, I've come to be very aware of that. Schneider explains to us that our eyes are a very integral part of our mind and our way of thinking (he goes as far as to call them a part of the brain), and that like any other part of our body, only if we take good care of them can we expect them to perform well. The exercises, included CDs, and guidebook are intended to teach us how to "pay attention" to our eyes, and he is right when he says that they'll respond!
1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
This is like doing Yoga for the eyes, bottom line it sucks and is in-effective.

5-0 out of 5 stars I've tried these eye exercises and they work
Born without sight, Schneider has devoted his life to learning about sight and self-healing systems. Based on natural vision techniques pioneered by ophthalmologist William Bates, he created his own total approach for self-healing and used it to reverse his own blindness. This course has a variety of eye exercises and other health recommendations. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential info for all Eye Doctors
I practice Nutritional Optometry (educate my patients on any and all supplements that are beneficial for their particular disease, or family history of disease). This book gives the reader an exceptional overview on the do's and dont's of nutrition as pertaining to the eye.1-0 out of 5 stars A misleading title providing false hope
I suffer from Macular Degeneration and bought the book, hoping to find, as the title suggests, a way to reverse the disease. There was no proven cure in the book. Plus, the book has only one chapter on MD, not the whole bookas might be construed from the title. Millions of Americans suffer from MDfor which there is no definite cure. The title is a good sales booster.People like me who have been told by numerous physicians that there is nocure, will buy the book. If you are a patient of MD, eat a lot of bilberry, antioxidants and lutein( found in leafy greens like spinach) and most ofall, pray. God made us and He only can cure; we can only try, it is He thatcan make it happen.

1-0 out of 5 stars snake oil for a vulnerable community
The theme: that nutrition ought to accompany any medical regime, is sound. But the silly sixties warnings about "processed foods" and other health food myths make one wonder if this is a book designed to make a buck for the authors rather than to help those with vision problems. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Macular Degeneration Discussion Inadequate
Remarkably this book has only one chapter on macular degeneration.Other eye diseases are discussed in chapters that follow.Useful descriptions of macular degeneration research or ways to achieve living independence arelacking.Heavy emphasis is placed upon nutrition therapy.I found otherbooks to be of more value in understanding the role of nutrition strategiesin preserving sight and practical ways to follow them in daily living. Thisbook alone will not fulfill most needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Down to earth and extremely helpful...
Provides concrete advice for those who have researched "fix-it" methods and found them wanting.Definitely for those who are interested in natural means to retard degeneration of remaining vision.

5-0 out of 5 stars Offers a natural alternative to losing vision!
My eye doctor told me I suffered from macular degeneration and I would gradually lose a good deal of my eye sight. He said there is no treatment for the condition that he was aware of.This book offers a naturalalternative to losing vision. The book isbased on fairly substantialresearch. The book gives you a detailed program of proper food andnutritional supplements that have been successful in halting theprogression of this problem and even reversing its degenerative eye-sightrobbing effects.I've started the program. While it's too early to reportimprovement at least I now have hope of improving my condition. The bookis written for the lay person and is very easy to read yet packed withinformation. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Buy This Book!
I have had this book for awhile now but I have been lazy about actually putting a lot of effort into the practice. I can just be lazy. But even so, with the little effort I have put into doing the exercises I have seen my sight improve. To others it might not be anything miracle worthy but to me it means a lot. When I first started I could not even seen the computer screen clearly without my glasses or contacts. Now I can sit at my desk and productively work without them. And the clarity keeps improving. This book teaches you how to see again the proper way and teaches you about the eyes. I have asked a few eye doctors over the years why eye sight fails and they have been honest enough to admit they honestly don't really know. I appreciate their honesty but is this good science? This book gives answers, which you may be surprised to learn are not new just ignored. For the price this book is definitely worth buying. The information on the eyes and the exercises which will make your eyes feel healthier and not so tired and stressed are well worth it even if your eyesight never improves, which I believe if you even try it will. Don't expect fast results though. Progress may be slow, but if you stick with it you just might be well rewarded.

5-0 out of 5 stars vary informational
I highly recomend this book to anyone with slighty weak eyes,i feel confident in the exercises given to improve your eyesight.

5-0 out of 5 stars important info, highly recommended
This book is informative, interesting, and to the point. It is easy to read with no fluff. Hence the reader can grasp basic concepts and start doing the eye improving methods immediately.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a gift for everone using glasses
This book is written from knowledge and experience.Jacob takes the Bates Method, adds plenty of his own experience andexplains it in a way that you cannot ignore. The book is full of factual, methods for relearning to see easily and effortlessly without glasses and also deals with the more subtle psychological resistances many of us have towards seeing clearly. Its a great book and written with love.4 weeks in and my eyesight has improved 6%(from 5.5D with 1D astigmatism to 5.25D with .75D astigmatism.I wear glasses only for the computer and driving now.I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to throw away their glasses!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best yet
I almost didn't buy this book based on a review. So I am writing to say that this is the best book on vision I have read yet. Since I must have 10 or 12 such books in my possession, I consider this quite a statement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Positive experience...
First off I will simply say that this is, in my experience, an excellent book on the topic of the deeper nature of eye-sight and why (in many cases) it deteriorates.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Eyesight:The Complete Magazines of William H. Bates
I am amazed by how much this book has helped me.Bates' principles really do work!I have only been reading the book for about a month, yet my eyesight is improving.I can't wait until my next eye appointment so I can surprise my ophthamologist (who gave me stronger glasses at my last eye exam -- they are now too strong for me to wear!).

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Eyesight Naturally
This book is an important addition to Better Eyesight Without Glasses and Relearning to See.

5-0 out of 5 stars A legend
This books is more easier to understand then the other book by Thomas Quackenbush. This book is more practical in that it explains the principles of better eyesight and how to improve on it. The Relearning to See book is great but it's more of a scientific academic fact kind of book. This book is more motivating as it gives case studies and proof that the method works. You can't get this priceless information anywhere else. It is my opinion that this book is the best book out there on natural improvements of eyesight. If you have only one book to choose for eyesight. Get this one. It's a legend in it's own right. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Try this first
I read this book with skepticism, I did the exercises with skepticism, and I watched my prescription go from -2.25 to -1.25 in three months. Not bad for a method that "doesn't work" according to the people who sell me glasses, contacts and laser surgery.I highly recommend anyone considering laser surgery to atleast check this out first.Someone please republish this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars As easy as breathing
Fronm the age of 8 I was wearing spectacles (which I hated so much) until I visited my friend's art studio and left my glasses on the table.Recognizing it I feld in panic.I called up my friend to find out when I can pick up my glasses.I was shocked by my friend's reply that I don't need any glassesand, that I am addicted to them like a junke to his drug.Nevertheless I was invited to pick them up any time I wanted. So I went there again and my friend along with my glasses gave me a book to read and to think about it.The book was Aldous Huxley's "The Art of Seeing." I simply followed the footsteps of Huxley and ever since I have told "SAYONARA" to my glasses.I was so happy that the method works that i shared my joy with my occulist, who was also my friend. He insisted that the method doesn't work.Upon checking my sight he stated that I'm an exeption. When I was about to elaborate more on what I did he said to me that he doesn't wan't to hear it.He said that he has wife and kids and he has to make a living. He showed me the door and that was the last time I saw him.I've lost a friend and won back my eyes.No regrets. The method is so important because one by improving his eyesight is improving his mind. And the mind is responsible for the function of the entire universe of the body. And so on and so forth. If I can recommend anything I am recommending this little wonderful BOOK.

5-0 out of 5 stars This really works!
I read this book 10 years ago and I freaked out my eye doctor when I wnet back a year later and went from a -2.25 in each eye to a -0.75 in each eye.Not perfect, but close to it.He asked what happened and I told him about the book.He said that the shape of my eye had changed and was wondering where I found the book.I told him a used book store, because it was not republished at the time.I am glad it is now.You have to have patience, but it really does work!Good Luck! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What a shock!! I'm that SMALL % with NO improvement
I was doing the 10 week program. After 9 weeks of doing the program, I gave up.. I have not seen any improvement. I would notice something because I can't see anything clear past 7 inches from my face. So forgive me for not doing the 10th week but I don't believe the 10 week is the magical number where everything changes suddenly.
5-0 out of 5 stars Personal review of "Improve Your Eyesight" by James Bellevue
I purchased this book and tape ten years ago and have not yet had to purchase new glasses. The book is very easy to understand and the video is easy to follow with very simple and clear to understand directions.I highly recommend this book to anyone for eye vision improvement.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Author Responds
I was a little perplexed by the following two reviews.I do not understand how Mr. Hwang claims the video contains only 3 exercises. There are 16 different exercises on the video tape, some are demonstrated and others are animated graphics which are watched.Maybe Mr. Hwang received a defective video tape, in which case I would request that he return it for a replacement.I assume he didn't watch only the first 5 minutes of the 90 minute video to make his evalution.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for sufferers of Thyroid Eye Disease!!
I bought this book based on the reviews I read and I must say, having read several books on the topic, this one is by far the best! There is so much detailed information and yet it's easy to understand.Plus, the biggest benefit is that it has made me a more informed patient with respect to discussions and questions I ask my endocrinologist.I'm now an active participant in my treatment vs. a receiver of dispensed information by my doctor. This book covers so many aspects of eye involvement in Graves Disease, such as anatomy of the eye, causes of inflamation, treatment options (surgical and non surgical), overview of the immune system itself, environmental factors, the importance of self-care along with real-life case studies and much more, and at great depth. No other book I found was more thorough and straigtforward.A must read for those suffering from Thyroid Eye Disease.I would highly recommend for anyone with a recent diagnosis of any thyroid-related disorder. My eye disease presented itself six months after my hyperthyroid diagnosis and there is so much you need to know about the various treatment options. This book is sure to make you a well prepared, well informed patient.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thyroid Eye Disease:Understanding Graves Opthalmopathy
This is a fabulous, fairly new book. I showed it to 3 of my physicians, and they all copied down the title and author, to purchase it and to recommend it to their patients..Said it was the best book on the subject they had seen. One doctor particularly like the diagrams of the eyes, which a layman could understand.
5-0 out of 5 stars A marvelous book for Graves' patients with eye problems
I learned of this resource through England's Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) foundation, and I'm forever grateful. There is simply no other book on thyroid eye disease, also called Graves' Ophthalmopathy, for patients anywhere in the world. The author skillfully weaves together basic information with detailed treatment options. Bravo! ... Read more
